Hint on obtaining preferred campsite

I was midly surprised when I called last week to make ressies for next January(end of month). We wanted a full hook up preferred site. I found out they are all booked up. I was able to make ressies for a full hook up non-preferred site. We have relatives staying at the Wilderness Lodge and last year we were in loop 200 and loved the convenience. Any hints on getting an opening to change to a preferred? Also if we can't get a preferred what loops would you suggest to request? Thanks!

Just keep calling back, cancellations are common.

The computer system is updated each night to account for cancellations so the best time to call is early in the morning.
