I love credit cards so much!

Hanging out in 30-day limbo land too ;) I was going to try to sneak both of the SW cards by applying at the same time but after getting the 30-day blah, blah, blah after the first app, I just decided to try for the one.

I couldn't wait any longer so I just called recon to face whatever the music would be and I was passed to verification rep said she needed to review the app, put me on hold, a few minutes later she sent me a code to read off, a couple mins later I was approved and she gave me my credit limit. Said card would arrive in 1-2 weeks. I then requested expedited shipping and she put in the request and said the card will arrive via UPS in 1-2 business days :)

If you get the 30-day message, try calling into the automated line. We did that just 10 minutes after the app was submitted and the status was already listed as "2 weeks" by the automated system, which is usually approved. That's when we went ahead and applied for a second same day. Called recon after the second got the 30-day message and had no issues other than moving around CL.

It was still 30 days when I called automated line so I called recon. Thanks for the encouraging DP but I'm gonna let my 6th go, it was complicated enough getting my CSP! Maybe I'll get in branch pre-approval for Freedom sometime? Fingers crossed!

FYI: I made a test payment on my CIP to my mortgage company through Tio since Plastiq stopped working for me, and it went through with 3X points. Looks like I can easily hit my min spend after all!

So, while my test mortgage payment to Plastiq using my CIP earned 3x, my full mortgage payment only earned 1x :(

CIP transactions through Plastiq are so YMMV right now. I'm sorry it was your larger payment that earned just 1x.

I have rents scheduled for the rest of the year and if they code as 3x, I'm just going to let it ride for as long as possible and not mess with a good thing; but if the next payment earns only 1x, then the transaction fee will be tough to justify without a minimum spend to meet.

Quick question about the SW companion pass: If I already have SW flights booked with points, but am able to earn the CP before the flight occurs and make DH my companion, can I change that purchased flight to a companion flight, or can I only use the CP on new bookings once it's earned? I had a SW Premier already and just got the SW Plus to take advantage of the 60,000 point offer. I just closed my Premier card this weekend since I didn't want 2 cards with an annual fee, but now I'm reading that I could apply for the Premier again and earn the 60,000 bonus since I originally opened the Premier more than 24 months ago. I didn't even know that was possible!

I think you can add the companion as long as there is an available seat on the plane. Also if you were worried about it selling out I think you can book the ticket with points then add the companion and get then get refunded the points.

On to the next SW card?

Idk...trying to think through it...If I applied a week ago, will I still fall under the one hard pull of my CR? Seems like it has been too long. I think this card puts me at 5/24. Originally I thought the CIP didn't count in the 5/24 but since it does, I don't have room for the other SW.

Yes, I guess that's my question. I already have DH's flight for November booked with points. If I get the CP prior to November, can I get for sure get refunded the points and switch his flight to a CP flight? If not, I'm not sure I'll bother trying to get the CP.

Off to look into Tio. Never heard of that one!

Question on AmEx points. I'm anticipating getting our 100K AmEx points in a couple of weeks after meeting our minimum spend. I need to book airfare soon for our January trip to WDW and the airfare prices really stink. Anyway, we have a $100 voucher from Delta for each of us because of delays with our last January trip to Orlando. They will be expiring soon and I don't want to lose that. So, I need to book directly through Delta to use the vouchers (or at least best I can tell I do). So, that means I can't book through the AmEx travel portal. Can I just apply the AmEx points to the transaction once it posts, or do you have to actually book through the AmEx portal to use the points?

It's ok :) I knew it was YMMV. It was a good run for a couple of months though. I am done with my min spend on my CIP so it doesn't make sense to pay the fee and only earn 1x.

They do return the points for a cancelled flight and the fees.

CIP and other biz cards don't count towards 5/24 :)

Off to look into Tio. Never heard of that one!

Someone told me about it on Reddit. I haven't seen too many mentions of it which made me nervous to try it, but it lists my mortgage company as one of their most frequent fund recipients right on the front page of the site, so I decided to give it a try. I didn't expect it to give me 3X, I just needed to reach my minimum spend, but it coded as "trvl, ship, adv, telecom". The payment hasn't hit my mortgage company yet, or at least they haven't updated their system yet. But the payment cleared through Chase already. I'm not going to put my full payment through until I see the first payment in my mortgage account.

Edited to add that the fee seems to be different for each recipient. I calculated that it cost me 2.81%, but I've seen mentions of over 3% for some people. It's worth it to continue using them beyond minimum spend if it gets me 3X UR though!

Agree with @SBWB48. Business cards don't count against your personal credit report. With the CIP, you did have to be under 5/24 to get approved, but it doesn't count against 5/24 once opened.

This is mostly the case, although I have seen some people report that a business credit card has shown up on their credit report. Generally they don't, but occasionally they do, so if you want to know for sure, the only way is to check your credit report.

And I just spent another 30 mins on the phone with Disney. They do not recognize the vendor conf number. Not sure what else to do. The guy from Chase said the reservation would show up in Disney's system 24-36 hours before check-in. That ain't gonna work :(

Sorry for the delay in replying on this. I've wasn't really online this weekend at all. The first time I booked, I made calls back and forth from Chase to Disney because I only had the trip ID (which has nothing to do with Disney) and the long number with the dash in it. Finally on one of my calls to Chase the rep told me she'd have to transfer me to a specialist to get me the vendor confirmation number.

Once I had that I was able to call Disney and explained to the rep I had booked a resort stay through Chase and needed to convert my booking number over to their system so I could link it in MDE. IIRC I was transferred to a supervisor. I gave her the "vendor confirmation number" Chase gave me. She told me since I had just booked a day or so before the reservation might not pull up in their system yet, but thankfully it was there. If you just booked on Friday, I suppose it is possible the reservation had not pulled over into Disney's system yet. Maybe a weekend problem? Sorry you're having so much trouble. On one of my calls to Chase I was also told everything would be set up just a few days before my trip. When I told them there was no way that would fly because I needed to book advance fast passes and such, I was transferred to the specialist to get the vendor confirmation number.

I honestly thought they had corrected something in their system recently because the trip I just booked had what was labeled as the "hotel confirmation number" right on my email. There was no other number with the dashes, like last time. I entered that hotel confirmation number into MDE and it pulled up my booking. I'd say maybe give it until the end of today or one more day and call Disney again. Maybe ask to speak to a supervisor. Hope you're able to get this sorted out. I sure know the feeling and nervousness of not being able to link your resort reservation.

The only biz cards that have been reported (based on DPs from reddit) as showing up on personal credit reports appear to be CapOne cards. Obviously, YMMV, but seems to be the case for the most part. None of the business cards I've had (never had CapOne, so can't confirm) currently show up.

My understanding is yes, you can cancel his ticket/get the points back and add him to the flight as your companion. I'm going to be doing that in about two to three weeks. I hit the minimum spend for the business card and I booked both of us flights with the points just to be safe, not wanting it to sell out, but when my statement closes for the personal I'll get the CP and be canceling his. Our flights are in September.
