Kirby's Krewe - Final Thoughts

I hit the post button before I realized there were no final thoughts.

I'm not sure whether we will stay in a value resort next time. The price is right but I do like a little extra room to move around in. Also the housekeeping crew seemed to be better in CB when we were there before, but that probably is the housekeepers not the resort.

Beyond the mixup with the passes, the check in and out at AS Sports was great. The CM's very polite and friendly. I really liked the movie playing in the lobby for children's entertainment.

Paying for everything up front was a big help and relief. On our last trip we didn't do this and spent about two years paying it off.

A TV/VCR is almost a must if you are going to drive a long distance. It helped keep our kids entertained.

I am not sure that we will get UMP's next time. We paid for a day and a half that we didn't use. I figured up that we could have saved about $400.00 if we had gotten park hoppers instead. But UMP's are convenient. But are flex features really worth it? Will have to do more investigating next time.

We gave our kids disposable cameras and got some great pics that we didn't expect.

We didn't get refillable mugs this time and wished we would have.

We learned on this trip how flexible you need to be in order to change plans at the last minute.

Bringing your own food in a cooler really can save the bucks. It also helps to have something to eat in the room if you are really too tired to stop in the food court.

I have seen mentioned that those staying at DL have to walk the farthest at the parks to and from their buses but I remember differently. It seemed the AS bus stops were the farthest away. I do know that this is true at TL. I did notice that that the more expensive the resort the shorter the walk.

The walkway through the Asia section of AK is very narrow. Or maybe it just seemed so because of the crowds. I never got lost in this park but it wasn't necessarily the easiest to get around.

Wished we had taken time out to tour the other AS resorts.

Both times we have been to MGM it seemed to clear out about 3:00.

Wished we had done a few more sit down lunches and a character breakfast.

Even though we didn't tour the parks commando style, I wish that we had stopped for awhile in the middle of the day and then come back to the park. I know that we would not have been quite so tired in the evening.

Now that I have found the DIS I look forward to planning our next trip. There are so many tips that I can't wait to put into action.

The DIS is wonderful, isn't it? :D

Thanks for sharing all of your tips with us, Kirby. :)

Kirby,

I can't find your first post on this trip. How old are your children and was this their first tri to DW?

Kirby,

You didn't say much about your son's reaction to DW. At 11, was he excited to be there? He did get some autographs-Did he like the characters?

This was our second trip. Our DS likes WDW but not as much as I or our DD does. He began getting autographs on his Goofy hat the morning we went back to AK, I believe it was Day 5. He got most of the autographs that our DD did, except for the girls like Alice and Rebecca. He is very proud of his hat and wore it every day we were there. He got many envious looks from other kids, especially when the autographs began adding up.

Thanks for posting your thoughts. Sounds like you all have a great trip!
