Length of Solo Trip?

I'm seriously considering doing a solo trip, but I'm wondering how long to go for. I went last year with a friend for 7 nights on the FTP, and I know that would be too long. Plus there's the cost issue. Things get pricey quick with no one to split the cost. So I'm wondering what all of you solo experts think.

I've taken 6 solo trips. The first one was only one full day. Got there Friday night, did WDW(MK only) Sat., went home Sunday. Then I increased slowly-3 then 4, 5, and my last trip was 6 nites. Next trip will probably be back to 5 nites. I've never been bored or lonely, even with 6 nites, just needed to cut back a little financially next time. I'd suggest 4 nites, more if you're confident you'll enjoy yourself solo (bet you will!). Remember, if 4 isn't enough, it'll give you an excuse to go solo again!

My two solo trips were 7 and 8 nights. The 7 night trip I didn't arrive until late the first night, so no activities that day and the 8 night trip I left very early the last day.

I need to learn to slow down a little. I think I would have enjoyed my last trip a lot more if I had taken things slower. I was beat by the last couple of days.

I done 6 solo trips. On these trips I stayed respectively for 4 days, 6 days, 9 days, 7 days, 6 days, and 7 days. The 4 day trip was way too short, and the 9 day trip was just a tad long. Nowadays, I never stay less than 7 nights/6 full days at the parks. I usually stay a combination of offsite and onsite to keep costs down, and I have an annual pass. Though on my most recent trips, even 6 or 7 days never feels like enough, and by my last day I am always running out of time trying to do all the rides and restaurants I want to visit! :teeth:

I'm planning my first solo trip this April, so I too am interested in what others have done. :) After much research and debate with myself, I've decided to stay onsite - so I'm only staying 2 nights this time to keep expenses down. I'm also using the time pretty cheaply, exploring the resorts and only visiting one park. I figured out that I really wanted to see Epcot, and the rest could wait for another trip. Maybe it would be helpful to make a "must do" list and then plan the trip based on how long it would take to accomplish them - saving some things to anticipate/justify more trips in the future!

I'll be in Florida for a month this summer, and hope to experiment a little with at least one longer stay and more time in the parks. It will be the most enjoyable "research" I've ever done!!

I just spent a week at AKL on a solo trip and at the end of the week I figured that I could have used at least three or four more days to fit in the stuff that I missed. I never got to DQ, Pleasure Island, water parks, or West Side of DTD. I also didn't get to do any pool time at the hotel or use the spa services. I didn't have enough time in the parks either. So I would worry more about not having enough time than about having too much time.

I have done solo 5 times, and each time I went for 6 nights.
By day 5 I really miss my DH, and my 2 cats.

This past December, it was much nicer keeping in touch with DH and also my Mom, with my cell phone.

I will also be going *This* December, 3 nights in a Disney place that I have not decided yet, and then 3 nights in a Boardwalk
one-bedroom villa. I can barely wait !

I have done solo for 3 nights.. definitely NOT enough... I am planning my next solo trip for 4 or 5 nights... I would do more.. but I just don't get enough vacation time at work!!! If I had unlimited vacation time.. I would say that I could do easily 6 nights..but then I would get homesick.... maybe :) I however llive alone except for my kitties... but I do feel guilty leaving them alone (without me) for that long.... they do miss me.. really!!! But I am sure that I would NEVER feel lonely or bored even for 7 days... Disney is just that sort of place.. but you also have to be that kind of person.... the kind that isn't afraid to talk to people... or the kind that isn't afraid to walk into a bar alone.. or restaurant... if you are.. then start small.. and work up to a longer trip next time....whatever you decided.. I am sure you will have fun!! If you need any other info.. feel free to ask!!

I have gone solo for 3, 5, 7 and 10 days.

Going alone is great for many reasons.

1) You can take as much time as you like at any attraction. I love taking a seat near any of the character and watch the kids react to them. That is truly magical moments for me. !
2) This is a great time to print out a list of the overlooked attractions and check them out. Many times I have been surprsed that I have never noticed some of them before.
3) I have taken most of the behind the scene tours while solo.
You are able to focus on the tour much better.
4) It is a great way to meet people- Just check the board for DIS meets and dinning companions. This is how I was able to check out PI. I was nervous about going to a club alone, but not if I was meeting someone.

I could go on and on.

I have gone on 4 or 5 solo trips. There have been trips when my sister came with me and then I drove them to the airport and stayed another 5 or 6 days solo.

To keep the cost down I usualy stay off property and rent a car. This way I can also check out other area attractions.

Hope you have a great time.

All the best, Paula

Cash and I did a solo trip in January that was 15 days long. We stayed on-site (Beach Club) and off-site (Vistana Resort). I depended on Mears transport for daily trips to the parks when off-site and preferred the time savings of staying on-site by far! Met other solos....( Hi B & T)
Cash and I will be doing another solo 15-day trip in the Spring (PC, AKL, Dolphin, and the Wonder), no car, and then another 18 or 20-day trip next Winter... off-site (Orange Lake Country Club) and then the Magic to the Caribbean, and then a few more days on-site...unplanned right now... Then the AP will be used up...

It'll probably take us 15 days to recover from the trip in the Spring because that's what it took to recover from the January trip. I'm expecting it'll take another ten-day vacation to recover from the Winter trip, too!
Hope to meet more solo Dis-ers on those trips.....

What a BLAST it's been...Lots of smiles and pixie dust! :wave2:

just between upon you - if this is your first trip solo - start small 3 to 4 days - then work up....

my trips are generally 3 to 6 days - but then I can drive there - besides as someone pointed out - work!!!

My FTP solo trip was for 10 days. I extended my FTP and stayed offsite a full day both before and after the FTP. I will admit that I had accomplished everything I wanted by day 6 but I am a ride person so I just rerode my favorite things, explored the parks and spent more time at my resort swimming. I really needed this vacation to de-stress and had a great time in accomplishing this task. I found that I was a little (very small) homesick by Day 5 and really missed my dogs & cats but needed the break from everyone else. I never really felt lonely because there was always some around to have a nice small conversation with.

I would tell you that if you don't go to Disney often, attempt to stay at least 5 to 6 days. Time flies by fast when your having fun and before you know it the end of your trip has arrived.

I did a Disney trip with friends a few years ago. it was a quicky 3 night/4 day thing and I can honestly say that it felt that all that time was crammed into a 24 hour period and went by entirely too fast.
