Loving the Journey - Feb 2020 W.I.S.H. Challenge

Starting to make dinner reservations for August trip-my husband and I have a reservation for the Flying Fish that I’m looking forward to. We’re also doing dinner at Spice Road one night to watch Epcot Forever with the family. It’s a miserable, rainy day here, so fun to be planning summer vacation.

Two of my favorites! No one in my party wants to do Flying Fish, so I'm going to have dinner at the bar by myself one evening while we're at Boardwalk. And sitting outside on the patio at Spice Road is a lovely break.

I'm just so happy that the temperatures are above freezing, so we are only getting rain. We normally get a lot of snow this time of year. I'm grateful to be spared. We already have two snow days. As of right now, we are getting out of school on Friday, June 19th because of the snow days. We are leaving for Disney World on June 24th, and if we get three more snow days, I will have to take a personal day on the last day of school. Downtown is being difficult about how we use personal days, and it would be really nice to have the 20th-23rd to prepare for our vacation instead of being in school. So for once in my life, I really DON'T want anymore snow days.

I'm thrilled that the weekend is around the corner. Some of my colleagues are having a rough time and there is illness at every turn. We all need a break!

Hopefully I will stay on program this weekend. We are ordering pizza takeout tonight, and my goal is to control myself.

I am paying for doing some house cleaning but the area from my front door to bedroom door in front of the book shelf looks much better. At least the floor has been picked up minus a couple of cat toys The items in plastic totes if needed can be easily moved else where. With my chronic fatique and fibro just doing that little 3x4 ft area including sweeping the floor means I am dealing with lots of pain.
I then got frustrated again this morning with 15 year old for not getting up or even answering my phone calls or calling for her since she decided to move to the basement and I have a real hard time with stairs if she doesn't answer her phone I hollar through the floor boards near a vent so she can hear me. I decided to gather up quite a bit of the laundry including 2 bag that are large enough to hold 2 large loads.
I did have DH go and get the laundry from the hall bathroom that the girls use but mainly 12 year old puts her clothes in there when they are not dropped wherever she happens to an article of clothing off, plus I had DH take the bags and of laundry and everything out to the car for me. I also had DH go down to the basement and get 15 year old moving when he took the first load out.
To access the basement you have to go from the main level of our house to an entry way level that is level to the ground on that part of the house (due to how our landscaping is to drain water away from the house our front door that would be accessible once we finally get the garage built for those coming to visit if we don't do as my parents did and have a walk in door on the opposite side of the entry way from the garage and then you have to go down a shorter flight of stairs because technically it is a daylight basement.
Between my balance issues and my knees I do not do well with stairs on a good day much less on days when I can barely walk on flat ground. Needless to say we didn't get a chance to leave the house until late because of waiting for 15 year old to get ready in fact I actually went and sat out in the car and waited for her which I ended up calling DH to hollar through the vents because I had called her several times as I was heading down the main stairs.
We barely had time to go to a fast food place to grab something to eat through the drive thru because I didn't know how long she would take so didn't take time to make myself something especially knowing if I had I would either have to stop and get her something and then I would want something or I would have to wait even longer while I waited for her to eat something. The rest of the stuff we barely had time for was going to the bank to get cash out of the atm then going to the credit union to pay the credit card bill (why mail it to the server address when the place that issues it is right in my town and I can go in knowing the payment was received and have it on a receipt.
This payment was a bit high because for some reason I did not get the January bill so I had the payment from that one plus the late fee plus the payment from this one), go to the 4-H office in the extension service to get a key to the 4-H building on the fairgrounds so I can lock up the building when we are done tomorrow.
There is a group scheduled in there before I have it reserved as the small animal leader for most areas we have members in (someone else handles the poultry) so getting in should not be a problem but since we are the last group for the day I need to be able to lock it up and thus needed the door key. and getting the laundry done. 15 year old wanted me to run to game stop for her and I was we need to do this and this and then she had the audacity to ask me if we could have DH just bring 12 year old in to meet us or if we could go home and get 12 year old ready and then go back into town.
Hmm is she nuts thinking that after she has not helped me with the cleaning constantly telling me that I will do it later mom and then a week plus later it is still not done so I get mad and do it myself and am now in pain that I am going to do anything for her that requires me to go out of my way. I was nice and just told her that DH could not bring 12 year old in because I was not sure with the amount of clothing changes 12 year old has been doing the past few days that she had any pants to put on that were not shorts and considering the tempatures here lately that would get me investigated so fast by the authorities for child neglect, and as far as the driving back into town I told her that I was not doing any more driving due to the fact that it was snowing on and off and this storm started out with rain so once it was dark it could be fun driving so sorry kid the answer is no.
When we got the mail at the road when we got home (it's another 1/10th of a mile to our house from where the drive starts) I got the lab orders for 12 year old on what they need to get and send into the hospital for children in my state that is so small it is only for state residents so I got the office for 12 year old's primary called to see if they had gotten the faxed order and nope they hadn't according to the receptionist so left a message for her provider's nurse to call me which she did and I was able to talk with her about the number of people it took the last time they did a blood draw (it only took one person to hold her down, one to hold her arm, and 1 to do the draw and all I could do was play a movie for her on my phone to distract her) so they could be prepared to have extra people if needed she said she would make note of it and to call and make an appointment.
I called the front desk back and got her an appointment for early on Wednesday afternoon. The nurse called me back again after closing time to let me know that they were able to track down the faxed orders but I am still going to bring in the hard copy but at least they know what is need ahead of time so can have things ready so we don't have her there as long.
We should get the results back in about 2 weeks after that and either know something or if we need to go to the next level of testing so we could possibly have all the answers by the end of this month if not they have to run more tests but won't have to do another draw and we wait longer at least since our insurance does not require preauthorization for each step that will save some time if they need to go to 2nd teer testing which we have been warned that there is a high chance that will happen.
I actually had started this on Friday night but ended up drifting off to sleep before I could post it so it is being posted in the early hours of Saturday morning my time. Hopefully I can fall back to sleep soon and get some sleep before 12 year old wakes up as DH and 15 year old are leaving early enough to be across town for 15 year old's ceramics at 9 in the morning and they should be home no later than 1 (I told them they had to be) which will give 15 year old 30 minutes to get stuff for the small animal meeting that I have not gotten gathered up and for us to be ready to go back in.
Considering the kids are going to work on showmanship we are taking 2 trips. Now next week with a county cat meeting for 15 year old and a photography meeting for 12 year old back to back (they will be working on portraits) at the 4-H building where we would only need to have the cat in a carrier for transport and then an hour during the photography part we will either just take 1 vehicle with all of us or 15 year old and I will go in first in one car and DH bring 12 year old in later. I am leaning towards that approach that way if the cat meeting runs shorter than they have in past years on length we can quickly load up and head home dropping the cat we bring off and then get DH and 12 year old and 15 year old can decide to either come with or stay home.

Does your district not have built in calamity days? We do. It used to be 5 days and anything over the 5 days we would have to make up. We had a few years that many school districts went over so they changed it. The school day is only supposed to be so many hours. I am not sure what this number is though but anything over this time the school can bank for calamity days. So say the school day is only required to 5 hours but the school day is 8 hours then we would bank 3 hours a day. We now have like 20 some days to use for closing for a day for snow, cold temps, heating issues, illness or what ever else the would have to close on a normal day.

I hope you don't get any more snow days. That would stink to have to use a day when you didn't need to when you booked. My mom is a teacher too and she always wishes for a snow day. Unfortunately for her it looks like we will not get one this year.

We had a quite weekend. DS had a basketball game that they lost but other then that we laid low this weekend. DD's ankle is hurting again and we are hoping it is nothing big. She refuses to walk on it though. She is wearing her boot today. She didn't do anything to it so we are at bit of a loss as to what is going on. This is the ankle that she had surgery on back in June so who knows. We are hoping that the boot takes care of it and she will be fine in a day or 2.

First off... we had sunshine both days over the weekend!!! And it is not going to rain today either!

My session Saturday was pretty deep: I wanted to focus on why I was using sugar to numb and what I was numbing, and some stuff did come out. Still processing, but am hopeful this is a turn around point. One thought that did occur to me is that I beat myself up for starting to eat sugar, but really what is most important is when I stop. It is the addiction that makes the stopping challenging, but that is where I need to focus.

The 'not caring' worked well for my presentation Friday, as I got positive feedback and also felt myself that it went well. And by 'not caring' I mean I didn't blow it up out of proportion and just thought of it as another thing to do during the day. So I'm going to make that my motivation for this week... to not blow things up out of proportion and just take them in stride.

Just back from a trip to the grocery store so we have some good options for the week ahead. I also bought an egg white quiche to try for dinner one night. Before I put things away I plan to haul everything out of my pantry and re organize everything. I’m sure there’s another box for Goodwill in there. Something about Mondays and a fresh start has me motivated today.

Every day that we close for weather or emergency we have to make up at the end of the school year. Many years ago, we lost a week because of a hurricane, and then had a terrible winter. That year they actually took from our April break and then 5 snow days. We got out at the end of June. We used to go 183 days, and after that year, we dropped to 182.

We fly out early on the 24th of June. Right now, we have 2 snow days to make up, so we are getting out on the Friday before. I would love for it to stay that way.

Home sick with a cold today. It has gone straight to my chest, which is bad with my asthma. Last year, I quickly went into bronchitis and then mild pneumonia. I was hospitalized with double pneumonia a few years ago, so my asthma specialist is very aggressive with meds. My doctor put me on very strong antibiotics and prednisone plus a new inhaler which gave me palpitations. I, of course, got thrush. It's a terrible cycle. I would prefer to avoid that again. So whenever I get a cold, I can't act like nothing is happening and go to work like everyone else. I have to stay home and take care of myself and try to avoid the worse case scenario. I called out for tomorrow as well. Hopefully, I heal quickly.

I am sorry, work is crazy at the moment and I totally forgot that I an hosting this week. Can someone take over? I just can’t come up with good questions this week. Have also totally lost all my drive for weight loss again and am up three pounds. Ugh!

I hope you feel better and it doesn't get worse. I got thrush for the first in November after taking an antibiotic. It was horrible. Nothing tasted right.

I am not feeling great today. Not horrible but sick to my stomach. I am at work for now but have canceled meetings to stay away from people just in case. I am not sure if i am getting sick or if it is just my normal stomach issues yet.

TOPIC TUESDAY:

The concept of "inner child" has been out there for quite a while, someone here mentioned their inner child last week (sorry, I've forgotten who it was) and I've been working on "inner child" stuff in my counseling sessions. I recently heard someone use the term "inner parent" and that was a new phrase to me.

Is your inner parent a positive influence or a negative one? Are they supportive or do they criticize and bring you down? How about your inner child, are they healthy and happy? How do they contribute or inhibit your progress towards living your healthiest life?
