Major Issues with My Disney Experience App?

I posted the same exact issue on TP.
Currently:
Running iPhone 7.
256GB.
iOS 13.3.1
MDE 5.8.0
Everything was running perfectly until our FB day arrived and I wasn't able to load My Plans on my phone (you know so you can have to active windows at once for planning purposes while grabbing FPP via the laptop.) Lost a boatload of time doing the iOS update and then nothing. Turned the phone on and off, uninstall and reinstall. Delete all other Disney apps (DL and DCL) and still no dice. Lost FPP for MFSR and a few others because of it I am sure. It won't even open on my phone. It takes over 30 seconds to load on DH iPhone X. We are leaving in 57 days.

The best I could do was add the site to my home screen so I can at least manage My Plans from a thumbnail but that won'y help with securing a BG for my family with RoR on HS day. I've been an iPhone person forever and now I am seriously toying with switching to Android (since I am way overdue for an update and have a credit) but I am also hearing of Android users having non compatibility issues? I don't even know now.

Because it's not as simple as you're making it sound.
Apple has released tons of IOS updates that have caused serious security threats or complete phone software breakdowns for SOME users. Bugs are not always universal, and data and how it is used and operated by your phone, the apps it runs, and the communication channel open are all factors in why or why not.

with MDE, it could be account specific. There have been bugs, hacks, and glitches on dozens of apps (Facebook, instagram, Target) that have only affected SOME users based on random pieces of the algorithm.
My SO is a software engineer and developer. Code is not an exact science, and it is far from perfect. 80% of his job is not writing and building code, it's fixing bugs and errors.
I get that. I wasn't making it that simple. You didn't understand my post to the specific IT Dept statements
The IT dept is saying it's an iOS wide issue related to the latest iOS release.
My point is it's not iOS wide issue. It's WAY too specific to each user. Which makes it harder.

I'm having a similar problem and it started with the latest IOS update. I have an IPhone 6s. Since the IOS update, the MDE app will not open at all. It is stuck on the purple castle screen. After about 5-7 minutes, it shuts down altogether and just reverts to my home screen. I have deleted and re-installed the app several times, and have powered my phone down and re-started it. None of this has helped at all.

    This seems to happen a lot. The past couple of trips (in particular our fall 2018 trip - I even had to book all my fast passes using incognito on my PC) we had major issues as was everyone else. At that time, I pretty much uninstalled and reinstalled several times (as well as dumping cookies, clearing out browsers) and it worked for a while. They had done an upgrade and it really messed up the works. I wish you all luck and hope things work out for you; all the planning that goes into a smooth, successful trip is already stressful enough. At least it is for me as I'm not a planner by nature, and I have the task of ensuring the enjoyment of 6 of us.

    It's a shame it cost you FP but I'm not sure why it did. You didn't HAVE to use your phone did you? I've never done that, keeping two things open in order to book FP. I just book the FP, working with the hard to get ones, FoP, SDD, MMRR, MFSR, mainly, first. Then go back and fill in the others later. I wouldn't have spent any time screwing with the app at that moment. That's for later. Maybe idea for next time? Cause as screwed up as MDE is, there is gonna be a next time

    My DD and I are attempting a BG on Friday. It's just the two of us. I hope that we are able to log into MDE. I usually use the desktop version on my phone for FPs.

    Phone 1 (mine): iphone 8+, ios 13.3.1, MDE 5.5.2 - No Issues. takes about 8 seconds to load MDE.
    Phone 2 (DD's): iphone 6, ios 12.4, the latest MDE (5.8?) - Takes more than a minute to load MDE, but if you leave it alone it loads.

    So, is the issue the combo of 13.3.1 *and* the latest MDE (5.8?) the one that seems to cause problems for most?

    Also, I was afraid to upgrade to 13.3.1 from 13.3 due to this thread, but I was one of the iphone users on 13.3 that had the issue with push notifications not coming through on WiFi, so I had to upgrade to 13.3.1, which I finally did last night.

    Like many here. Updated last week and now having all the issues stated above. Stupidly updated my iPad too (air 2) and that’s even worse than my phone. (iPhone 7 latest firmware) it’s been running like a dream until this update. Been checking everyday to see if advance reservations on fir space 220. Trip is in Mid April so hopefully Disney will get this sorted.

    My Disney Experience update 5.8.1 has been released today! Anybody who has been plagued by the same issues as myself, should consider updating immediately. I updated the app and it has been launching every time I have tried without fail! Let’s pray for no more issues...

    just updated ! took a few seconds and it launched. will check tomorrow morning again, as that is when it is the worst
    thank you for the heads up!

    On laptop, I needed to only use the CHROME BROWSER... not EDGE OR INTERNET EXPLORER... hope this helps!

    I know this is a stupid question but I’m not that techy! I have an iPhone 10 that updates automatically and I don’t see that it updated last night. On my old phone I used to manually have to click on update all to get the updates loaded. Is there a way to manually update MDE since my phone hasn’t done it automatically?

    Sure. Just click on the App Store. Then click on your little profile picture on the top right corner. Should show you what’s available to update. If it shows no new updates, drag the screen down to refresh. Good luck.

    Thank you!! I didn’t know to drag the screen down! It popped right up. Hopefully my app won’t crash all the time now!

    You learn something new everyday 😁 Happy to help. I love playing with any new technology I get... I need to know all the fun things it can do! Hope it doesn’t crash on you!

    Pssst, not stupid at all. They moved the feature in iOS 13 and just about everyone has had to ask the first time they tried to see updates manually.

    I just did the update and it did not help me at all. I've tried opening the app a bunch of times and most of the time, it will not open at all. Just stays stuck on the purple castle screen and eventually shuts down all together and reverts to my home screen.

    I have auto updates turned on and see the app updated today. So far so good for me now.
