Making a reservation at 8 a.m., how far in the process can you go ahead of time?

Can you open two browsers to make two new reservations at the same time?

It is not possible to do two reservations at the same time in the same account. The system has to be able to take points and complete a reservation from an account that has no other current demand for the same members' points going on at the same time. You cannot do a second reservation until you complete the first.

Has anyone confirmed this process till works?
I’ve had trouble with it recently when trying to refresh borrowed points. I’ve also had borrowed points mysteriously revert into their original use year after cancelling. I think it still works, but there may be some quirks.

Last Sunday at was at my computer at 7:45 ready to try to get a BW Pool/Garden Studio at 8:00am at the 7 month window. (That would be for June 5-10). June 4th was not available - I had tried to book the day before, and when I checked at 7:45 it had the X in it. (I like to keep doing searches before 8am so I don't get logged out from inactivity). Anyway, I kept refreshing the June 4-10 search (planning to change it to 5-10 at 8am) and suddenly at 7:56am June 4th became available! I was NOT expecting this and of course, booked it immediately. The only reason I could think of this happening is that someone with an existing Pool/Garden View cancelled it at 7:56am to free up points to switch to another resort at 8am.

Supersnoops's procedure is as follows. It works only if you would have to borrow some of the points to make the new reservation if you did not cancel the exisitng one.

1. You need two different browers, e.g. Chrome and Internet Explorer (or use two different computers, e.g., a desktop and iPad). Sign into the DVC Member site with both browsers.

2. On one browser go to your existing reservation, click details, and get to the page where you can start cancellation of the exisitng reservation.

3. On other browser, start to set up your new desired reservation on the first page where you can make reservations and once done click to get to the availability page. If what you want is available, click to get to the next page where your reservation is locked in for 20 minutes and you choose points for the reservation. The points shown will be those left without the ones from the existing reservation. Choose the applicable contract(s) and the Borrow icon should come alive. Click on it to bring up the Borrow window and then do nothing.

3. Return to the other browser and cancel the prior reservation. Do absolutely nothing except the steps needed to complete the cancellation.

4. Return to the other browser and click "Cancel" in the Borrow window. The page will refresh itself and show all your points from the cancelled reservation. Now just continue as you would in choosing contracts and doing all the steps necessary to complete the new reservation within the remainder of the 20 minutes allowed

I have used the method twice and it has worked. Others have also reported success. There have been reports that there may be problems with the system when Poly is involved. That seems to be a continuation of the issue that there have been many problems with the system when Poly is involved, including actual availabilty of Poly not being shown correctly in the check availability tool and, in the reservation section, the system's showing availability and allowing you to to go to the page that locks in the reservation for 20 minutes when, in fact, there is no availability for what you want at Poly, and thus the system at some point before you complete the reservation just sends you back to the first reservation page.
Thank you! Replying so I can find this later!

is it possible to make two contiguous stays without it being automatically linked? I am staying 8 nights, booking BWV standard. Would like to do a split stay and half at a different resort. Can I leave it in two pieces so that I can cancel one or the other at 7 months and switch if there is something available? and if not... just call to have them linked up into a continuous 8 nights?

Put one stay in your name only, and the other stay in a travel companion's name only. When you know what you want to do, call (or chat) to add all the other names and link if necessary.

I tried this today and it didn’t refresh. I ended up getting the dates available but had to wait the 20 agonizing minutes for the reservation I wanted to go back into the system and had given up my 11 month booking which someone else grabbed immediately.

Glad it ultimately worked. I have done the method exactly as Drusba described and been successful a couple of times. However it has been in response to RAT stalking and grabbing an opportunity as opposed to attempting at 8:00:01AM. Simply saying that I have been successful at times of seemingly less “system stress”. Just a thought.

The system is having some new annoying booking issues in the past couple of months. Yesterday I was booking a room well within the 7 month window. I went thru and selected point and then it "thought" for a long time and finally came back and said I didn't have appropriate points for the reservation. Note - this was well within the 7 month window - actually 3 months away. So I hit the back button, selected the same points again and it apparently decided I did have the points.

I had this same thing happen in trying to get a CCV 2BR right at 8am at 7 months and never was able to get the entire reservation back that I had.

An added benefit of separate master accounts maybe?
