My Disney Experience

Thank you for the update :) I am assuming you're not within 499days?

I don't understand how they've changed their booking system. That info is exactly the same as when I booked my last trip in 2015.

When I eventually lose patience and call I hope I get that cm.

The US booking system which all reservations have to link to for MDE went through an "upgrade" about two weeks ago. They system was done for longer than expected and was really glitchy afterwards for about a week.

(I was trying to book an AP rate for July and it was showing no availability at all, when before the upgrade there was a lot of choice, then when it did I had to phone to book as it wasn't letting me do it online)

I was aware of the upgrade but the cm said they've changed their system and you have to wait until at least 499 days from the trip but it's always been that. Or at least it was in 2015/16.

I'm not in any rush but it's so annoying when every cm tells you different info :guilty:

yes we are about 530 days out, but will be back on the phone at 498 days:rolleyes1

We got a letter through today from Disney telling us about the drink changes to the dining plan and there was a reference number on the letter  was hoping it would connect us but no luck :sad2:

We are 480 ( something like that) days out :guilty:

Oh no, talk about false hope, with a "new" ref number

i've been itching to ask that question too.

there's not really anything you can do on there until 180 days out (ADRs).

I am not at the stage where I want to ring yet but it's like an addiction ( I know that's a strong word ) waiting for it to link :rolleyes1

And then one day :tink:it's like magic and it appears :)

You can play around with your magic bands. Even though it's a way off, it is nice to see it all there in front of you and build notes in your plans. Anything for a bit of a Disney fix

notes and scheduling are in charts that i create in excel and word.
No way all the required info can fit into DME.

you have to create a calendar, fit in the hours, figure out where you'll be each day

It's much easier to understand in a graphical format, not in the DME.

as for magic bands - yes you can customize them and keep on customizing them until about 6 weeks out.

you're so far away from your holiday, they may come out with MB3 before then..

Can I ask if there is a particular reason you want to connect to MDE so far out - apart from the obvious excitement.

Yes apart from the obvious magic bands and plans, it was because when we booked in 2015 for 2016 I didn't have a problem connecting straight away. When I phoned to ask why I couldn't connect for this holiday the CM said its was because I had only just booked and to give it 72 hours. I did this and still nothing. Phoned back and was told it could be a year before I can connect:crazy2: . So asked on boards if anyone else was having same problem. Some members had phoned UK Disney asking for a new number and managed to connect that way, so phoned for a third time, the CM said wait until 499 days out. It is so frustrating to be told something different each time. Wonder what I would be told if I phoned back again :upsidedow

did you book that far out in 2015, 2016?

i know that for this year, the earliest it would be for anyone was a year and for those of us at SSR/OKW, 10 or 11 months....
i never bothered to look, so i don't know when it first appeared on MDE...
i only looked at about 8 months and it was there without me doing anything...
my reservation and my son's both appeared automatically on my MDE...i guess because they're linked together...

I'm in the same position, have called 3 times and had a different answer every time. Very frustrating!

My friend who booked this year, in June, for July this year! Still had to ring about her second number. When I was first told they told me that they are having to generate them manually following the recent upgrade and they are prioritising the closer bookings. So they said in all honesty it depended on what they had to input in front of them. I think they are giving people days in advance to take the pressure off but in reality they should have your numbers sooner, like with mine. However, it certainly sounds from everyone's experiences like the CMs don't all have the same knowledge. Very unDisney-like.

480 days out and mine has linked.

With the original reference that Virgin Holidays gave me :)

have you called the special technical support number?
there is, or at least used to be, a number that is specifically to reach disney IT specialists.
I used it one year, when i only bought the ultimate tickets and was having trouble linking up.

i wonder if it still exists..
i wonder if i can find the number that i called at that time..
the person who answered there was extremely knowledgeable....not a regular CM, but one of the IT CMs who actually knew how to handle the system..

.

looking through my records, it seems this is the IT support number i called: 0800 16 90 749
It's a different number from their reservation number..

maybe they can help? they were brilliant when i had a problem, but then again, this was 2 years ago, long before the current massive upgrade to their system...

Thinking on, our original holiday was booked in 2014 for 2015, but because our DD became ill in 2015 we transferred it to 2016.
