NEXUS Renewal 2024 - Documenting my progress (Update: Approved in 10 weeks)

So we should get a new card? Mine was approved in the fall but I never did. I’m just renewing my kids cards and just figured that out…

Yes you should because once your old one expires it will be no good and you need to activate your new one. If you haven’t received it yet I would be contacting them.

Find the Canadian Nexus phone number and give them a call. There was a problem sending out cards last fall and some didn't get sent. From a reply I wrote a while back...
For my kids I opted to call the Canadian Nexus information line and left a message which resulted in a return call the next morning. In talking with them, they acknowledged that there was a problem sending out Nexus cards back in September and they knew that many didn't go out properly so they would send us new ones right away for both my kids. Of course, in my head I'm asking if they knew there was a problem and cards weren't sent, why didn't they resend them already before I waited for months and months and called, but oh well.

Thanks for posting your experience. We just submitted our nexus renewals today for myself and two kids so will see if similar experience (end April). It seems like we will need interviews though, which is a pain as we would need to drive to the States (plus our son is only home for 4 months and then out of town in the fall for university).

We applied last summer, got approved last October but they didn't send the cards until last week. We used the expired ones for two trips. Funny thing is my son is now 14, so he's grown a lot since his first card, but they didn't even ask for a new picture. I guess it's good until he's 19 now so next time he'll have to get it on his own lol. He was 7 in the picture I think? It was so long ago.

We have interviewed at the Ottawa Airport for our nexus cards in the past. It appears it is still an option. The link is dated 26 Jan 2024. There are other Canadian airport locations listed.

Thanks. Good to hear. We are in Toronto and Pearson is listed in the link you gave. Our understanding is that it hasn't opened back up again for Nexus.,,,but maybe it is as of now?

I did my Nexus interview at YVR April 6 and 7. The catch with doing the interview at an airport is that it is in two parts. The Canadian part can be done at any time but you need to book an appointment online. The US part can only be done when you are flying to the States the same day.

I was flying to Anaheim on April 7 in the morning so I booked an appointment for the Canadian part on April 6, took a ferry to Vancouver and stayed at the airport hotel overnight, and then the next morning I did the US part which does not require an interview. I was approved after the US interview and I received my card in the mail on April 18th.

Thanks for explaining. What a pain! That is super inconvenient and may not even be possible depending on the timing of arrival and trip. If we need an interview, I think we'll just coordinate a Buffalo trip (by car).

Mine was approved in October but I never got a new card. I emailed to ask about it last week and they told me to order a replacement. Not sure if it’s a coincidence or not but it showed up in the mail today without me requesting it!
