No we can't call the baby Cinderella - A Trip Report - Day 1 Updated Page 2

Day One: Wahoo off we go. 4th Feb

Well after a pretty early start, for some reason I couldn’t sleep so had been awake since 3.30. Managed to get the kids to have some breakfast, luckily they didn’t want too much as we were finishing off the milk.

We packed the car – neighbour saw us leaving at 6.30 am and told another neighbour who sent text to make sure we were ok and weren’t off to the hospital and didn’t need the boys watched. I am glad we have such good neighbours

We caught the train from Hertford North, to Finsbury Park where we changed and went the one stop to Kings Cross before having some more breakfast kids had a muffin and Doug and I shared a breakfast sandwich thing which was very very tasty.

We checked in for the Eurostar, picked up the kids entertainment packs for the trip. Took a picture of our luggage as I was quite pleased with how little we had. One suitcase and then the kids had a little bag each plus the stroller.

Our 1 Suitcase and kids backpacks which were full up with their sleeping toys.

After our trip on the Eurostar which was quite comfortable even in the standard class, the kids had something to eat, out of the wee packs of goodies I made them. Seth would have eaten the whole pack if I had let him. We had a sandwich and drink then the lady came around with our Disney Express baggage labels, park tickets and meal vouchers.

We arrived at the station and headed up to the Disney Express counter to drop off our bags to the hotel. I am really pleased I decided to take this service option as it meant we could go straight to the park. While dropping off the bags we also made some restaurant reservations and was pleased to learn that Cafe Mickeys would be open on Saturday. So we made reservations for:

Parkside Dinner 6.30 Thursday Night
Cafe Mickey’s 6.30 Saturday Night
Steakhouse Buffet Brunch Sunday 12.30

After leaving there we decided that Friday we would have dinner at Anettes and Saturday lunch we would like to eat at the Blue Lagoon.

Peter Pan and Wendy flying around the big hat.

We headed over to Walt Disney Studios at the request of Cullen who asked if we could go on the cars ride. So we headed straight to Cars which was a walk on and I found it a lot more twirly (is that a word) than the teacups which is what I was thinking it would be like. After that we watched the people coming out of the cave on the Crush ride and headed over for a ride on the Magic Carpets.

The boys riding in their car. I gave this ride a miss for the second time around. Seatbelt was a bit tight around the pregnant belly.

Some random people we don’t know on the Crush Roller Coaster ride....... As I watched jealously. Crush outside his ride

We headed over to the Monsters Inc section and did some screaming and got some photos before we noticed that the parade was about to start so we found a spot (just in behind the stage) and enjoyed watching all the cars and characters. I don’t really enjoy the parades that focus the main singing and dancing in one place, to me a parade can mean that mass audience can watch but then to go and limit the viewing potential by focusing it all into place.

Cullen and Seth with Mike, Cullen looks so bored. But perks up a bit for the next photo. Thats much better showing some excitement.

Cruella strutting her stuff.

Towards the end of the parade Seth was getting a bit grumpy, so we decided
to go and get him something to eat from the Block Buster Cafe but while I was walking there he fell asleep so I met up with Doug and we decided to go over and ride the backlot tour. Seth woke up as we got on the ride and the boys happily watched the world go by on the tour.

Another ride on the cars and Magic Carpets before we decided to exit and head to the hotel. We wandered over to the Hotel New York looking at the decorations of the Disney Village. I quickly popped into World of Disney to get a stuffed Chip and Dale to leave for the kids to go with their letter.
Check in was easy and quick and we headed up to our room 2185 which was a corner room over looking the Lake and the big balloon. Weirdly enough I forgot to take pictures of the room, but it was very nice. Beds however, were very hard. Too hard for my liking and up until then I thought I liked a firm bed.

They had left balloons in the room for the kids and on the bed a Happy Birthday card and a Winnie the Pooh toy for Cullen to help celebrate his birthday which was very nice and he was very excited about.
We rang down to see if we could change our dinner reservation at the Parkside Diner to 6.00 which was ok. So we headed down the kids played in the taxi while I took a couple of photos of them.

Cullen driving (having his turn after a fight with his brother over it) the taxi And Seth having his turn.

The food at the Parkside Diner was hit and miss, we really enjoyed the starter section which was a lot of salads, cold meats, pickles etc and was all very nice. The “main” section selection was terrible, it seemed mainly aimed at the kids with chicken nuggets, pizza, pasta in a cheese sauce type stuff. I really didn’t enjoy any of that and neither did the kids who happily ate more of the starter section. The dessert buffet however, was lovely with lots of nice items and then I filled up on cheese and bread which was fantastic.

The kids arrived back to the room to find their letter from Chip and Dale and their new toys and were very excited.

We started off with Cullen and Seth in the same bed but after they continued to muck around we finally split them up, turned off all the lights and Doug and I ended up going to sleep in the beds with a kid each......... ( I really hate hotel rooms with small children :))

Of course given I was asleep at 8.00 pm I was awake about 3 in the morning but filled in the time until I nodded back off to sleep by thinking about winning £85,000,000 in the Euromillions while we were away – we didn’t win by the way in case you were wondering.

Great start to the trip. Can't wait to see what else you did whilst there. It's nice to see what parts of Disney your little boys like, a little bit of preparation for me.

Is it quite easy to work out which rides you can go on pregnant and which rides you can't?

With my baby head I need things clear and simple lol.

So nice to read all about you and your lovely family and your first day at DLRP. You are so lucky to have visited so many Disney parks ~ it is on my bucket list to do them all! :rotfl:

Looking forward to the next part. :goodvibes

Sorry for the delay everyone in the next installment, I will do it I promise, I am currently trying to organise a Pirate Party for Cullens 4th birthday

These are the invitations I did

The inside has the invitation details printed over a map and then pinned inside the invitation.

I also have two cakes and a heap of pirate cupcakes to make this week. I just finished a Mr Tickle cake for a friends little boy this evening.

Loving this! can't wait for an update when you actually get 5 minutes peace!! Great pirate party invites... would love to see a picture of the Mr Tickle cake - sounds fab!! Do you ever get to put your feet up...?!! :goodvibes

I really hate hotel rooms with small children :)

Me too!! Last year we had a King Size bed for the three of us! And you can't really do much after they've gone to sleep. We watched DVD's on the laptop, read with a little book light and wrote up my trip report! Not very romantic!! :rotfl2:

Thank you, the map will show you with a red triangle and exclamation mark the rides they think you shouldn't ride while pregnant, because the boys are little it was all the stuff they couldn't ride anyway.

Great start. Looking forward to more. :)

Great report! Looking forward to the rest! :goodvibes

Thanks guys, I promise there are some more coming soon. Even some food porn.

Yes only Toyoko to go now, although I am not sure when we will fit that in. When the kids start school it certainly cuts into when you can just travel.

My feet are up a lot, I don't do housework very well. Just the stuff I enjoy. Although I did fold some washing today.

I was just looking at a WDW trip just pricing it up, but couldn't get past us all with a baby in one room and the price was just out of this world. So if we go again I think it will be off site again. Which we enjoyed last time because we like to see other stuff - like Walmart ;)

Not sure when we will go though as next year is suppose to be a trip home to New Zealand.

Here is a pic of the Mr Tickle cake as requested. :)
