OFFICIAL 2018 Christmas & Holiday Time at DLR Superthread!!

Amyg1975 what was the menu options?? Did you have to eat turkey? Or was there any other option like the fried chicken or anything else??

We are here now and just had the Plaza meal. We had a 4:15 reservation and have passes for the 6pm parade. Same reserved area as for the Pixar Parade. There is curb seating, benches along the back, and then standing areas. Late lunch/dinner was great!
What were the menu options?? Only turkey or could you choose anything else? Also what was the desert?

I haven't been in the parks on a Sunday in a while, but it was staggering how busy it felt. Even DCA felt crowded. I think that it was due to the holiday weekend, the start of the Holidays season, and being a Sunday.

My friends arrived at about 9 and Harbor Security was out to Harbor Boulevard. They walked over to DTD and said security over there was very disorganized. It had an "everyone for themself" feeling. Insufficient crowd control and no way to tell where the lines were (merged, split, and merged again randomly).

On the flip side, the holiday decorations and entertainment are wonderful. We watched the Christmas Parade and it was cute, as was the Red Car Trolley show. More notes after I get home...and get some sleep!

Thanks for the feedback! Is it on the Frontierland side of Main Street?

Yes, that’s the spot. No one was allowed to stand. You either sat on the benches or on the curb.

Menu options were: fried turkey (way too much food!), with gravy, stuffing, green beans, and white cheddar Mac. Dessert was a small chocolate peppermint parfait. It was good. We have never had their fried chicy, so not sure how it compares, but the turkey was good, but spicy (pepper). I liked the stuffing and the Mac a lot. The other options instead of turkey was either a Cobb salad or penne pasta with marinara sauce.

Thank you so much!! You are great. I was wondering what the food was like. The picture helps out so much.

That looks great! I debated doing this to see the parade but we opted to eat at Blue Bayou instead

Thanks so much for the info. I'll probably pass since I like to stand to photograph the parade. That's great info to know going in. I'm always at the back or to the side, but standing gives my shots a better perspective.

The weather for thanksgiving weekend isn’t looking to great! Hopefully with 12 days to go it changes!

I know the Candy Cane dates have already been posted, but this year's date/info card is pretty cute!

Who else is scouring the Festival of the Holidays menus? Here are my must trys:

1. Turkey & Stuffing Tamale with Cranberry Relish
2. Blood Orange Ginger Mule with a Rosemary Sprig
3. Nashville Hot Fried Turkey with Dill Pickles
4. Vanilla and Cranberry Trifle

Anything I just have to add?

Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Ale from Aftershock Brewing Company. We tried it last year and it was really good and very different.

I've heard that the Braised Pork Belly Adobo with Garlic Fried Rice is supposed to be good, and I also plan to try the Holiday Stuffing Mac & Cheese. I had the Milk Chocolate Candy Cane Pot de Crème last year and it was good, so that's definitely on my list for this year.

Does anyone know if the gumbo is completely gone from Cafe Orleans now? I know around this time last year it was removed from the menu and replaced with a seasonal soup which turned out to be the gumbo anyway!

Has it changed again or is it still gumbo? Thanks

We went yesterday and it was packed but manageable. On the way we received a Twitter notification saying all resort parking was full. :scared: It was then we decided to bag DL and just visit DCA and the Festival of Holiday booths.

DCA looks sooooo good! Right as we arrived Minnie walked up so we got a photo with her. Darn, the photopass pic is too large.

After we headed to the booths. The boozy eggnog was delicious! Even at $13 each I didn’t feel it was terribly overpriced.

Oh wait, I had two...

DH tried a couple different beers. We also tried the tater tots, beef with horseradish sauce, and turkey slider.

On our way out we decided to hop the Monorail and walk down Main St. DL looks gorgeous. It was pretty crowded.
