'OHANA means CHUNKY! An Aug 2017 Family TR THE END 4/26 - The Last Day and Trip Epilogue!

Ok those are some stunning - gorgeous! - fireworks photos!!!!!

Stuck at night on BTMRR.... Good news is that it wasn't in the blazing sun, it was dark so that's something. And glad you guys thought it was exciting; I'd be needing a paper back to blow into :faint:

Your cruise is now less than a week away!!!! Have been reading posts from people who just got back from the first Marvel cruise and oh my goodness, it looks amazing!!! I really hope that this becomes a yearly thing as we wait not-so-patiently for the first of the 2019 dates to be released :jumping3:

The pick a pearl is such an awesome gift idea!! I may have to steal it in the future :)

I'm also crazy jealous of your BTMRR adventure. I really want to get escorted off of a Disney ride! (As long as no one was hurt, of course).

Just a quick note to follow up on everyone's questions regarding how they know that there is a pearl in each oyster.

Pearl Harvesters will cut a small slit in the tissue of the oyster and insert an irritant under the tissue. The oyster will then produce a nacre substance to cover up the irritant to protect itself. This nacre substance, which is also on the inside of the shell (mother of pearl) is what makes up the pearl.

So the Harvesters are essentially putting the pearl inside the oyster. We just don't know how it will turn out, as that is the job of the oyster.

Never knew that thank you for the info

Totally! I've had 2 memorable ride breakdown experiences (both Disneyland).
1) Astro blasters on Dapper Day! Everyone was taking selfies/photos with Zurg! The CMs were trying to move everyone along...yeah, not going to happen quickly!
2) Snow White Scary Adventures. I was solo and got stopped in the dungeon! For a couple minutes stuck there all alone with the scary music! Finally the lights came back on and I was recovered by a sweet young girl CM who realized I was stuck with skeletons and just couldn't stop laughing! She also explained that they sometimes rearrange the skeletons to scare guests until they get caught by their bosses! But she did give me and another group multi-experience passes for any other ride in the park!

That is soo cool taking pictures in your dapper outfits with zurg. Somehow it all just makes sense. :)
Haha that is hilarious about the after-hour skeleton musical chairs. If I were a CM I'd totally do stuff like that...maybe not! I'd want to keep my job LOL. Glad you got another FP to use!

Thank you! It really is an amazing show.

Haha yes, it's not for everyone but since we were in no rush to get anywhere and I had my popcorn I was set. :)

OMG I know! I can't believe it's almost here. I thought I was done packing then I realized I forgot what I packed. I'm just silly like that, and I don't want to spend time making lists on tops of lists...I don't want vacation packing to be a work-like chore! So as long as the FEs and my 3 costumes are packed...I'm good. :thumbsup2

Wow - evacuated from one of my favorite rides. I have been stuck on rides but never evacuated. Adding that that to the Disney bucket list.

It was definitely a cool experience if you love Disney! I think if any of my family were stuck on it they would think it was the biggest pain!

The pick a pearl is such an awesome gift idea!! I may have to steal it in the future :)

Definitely, I stole it from everyone who posted on the DISboards who did too!

I'm also crazy jealous of your BTMRR adventure. I really want to get escorted off of a Disney ride! (As long as no one was hurt, of course).

Haha it's so crazy how we think it is actually a GOOD thing to be evacuated off a ride! I'm glad I just wasn't hanging sideways like those riders on Test Track.

The necklace from pick a pearl is so pretty, what a great gift!

Also super jealous that you got evacuated from BTMRR, hopefully one day we'll all be that lucky. :rotfl:

Thank you! It was definitely a big hit with the girls and I felt good that I didn't have to pay the prices that Disney was charging for the cages.

I hope you get your evacuation moment too!!

Thank you for that info! I figured they were farmed specifically for that purposes! Very interesting!

Had to get caught up again-took some time off for October trip...
those pearl carriages-sooo cool!! and yes-this definitely qualifies you as coolest aunt forever status!!
still need to see space with the lights o

I've not ridden Space since I saw it with the lights on on the peoplemover. Just sayin...hahaha. Popcorn for the win!!
Ummm yeah there is a reason Space Mountain is in the dark. I no longer duck...but I also haven't ridden it in years. Waaaaay back in my CM days I once rode SM with the lights on for hours while the imagineers/maintenance were testing a new braking system. Did you know they (at least they used to) have a number CM's could call to be guinea pigs? 5 hours straight on SM and it is enough for a life time:rotfl: I still ask how the brakes are around the second to last turn LOL! But Peoplemover is a ride I could spend hours on!!

1) Astro blasters on Dapper Day! Everyone was taking selfies/photos with Zurg! The CMs were trying to move everyone along...yeah, not going to happen quickly!
OK this is now on my Disney bucket list :rotfl2:

If I were a CM I'd totally do stuff like that...maybe not
Back in 2004 when we utilized rider swap-we were at Universal and a TM there hung with me while waiting for crowd to catch up at the Disaster ride (rider swap at uni has it ALL OVER disney)-he told me tons and tons of gossip (his wife worked on the morning walk through crew at The Great Movie Ride) for uni and Disney. Lets just say pranks are played, and the estates of people who are depicted in scenes are very very exacting in being... anatomically...correct in every way.

Hi everyone, if you're interested here is the silver Pearl Cage I got from amazon: Pearl Cage
It's so much cheaper than buying it from Mitsukoshi. I think it's like 50-60 bucks in the store. Crazy! It may be better quality but I don't think the kids knew the difference. :)

I personally bought a nicer one for myself. It's still so much cheaper than Mitsukoshi and it's a better quality and a little bigger: Pearl Cage 2
I didn't get a pearl yet though, but I kinda like wearing it without one.

This also may be my last update (or two) at least until the beginning of November. We set sail on the Disney Magic this Saturday for Marvel Day at Sea! Then right after we're off to WDW for our 2nd go around at Food and Wine and MNSSHP. I am not even going to think about how I did not train for the Fall Feast 5k that we're planning to run on Nov 3rd. Let's just hope for no injuries until then! Also DISMeets with: @franandaj @ariane37 @kastoney @Nhebron @soniam @Jenny Sanders @ashw100 and my friend Betsy. Have I forgotten anyone? Please let me know as my brain is a bit fried!

Day 4 Part 1: The one where I ditched my family.

Today was DHS day followed by a much anticipated meal at 'Ohana! We strolled out to the bus stop at around 9am (I let them sleep in). Sienna decided to go with the Polynesian theme and dress up as a Hawaiian sushi chef.

Waiting for buses is a good time to get some nutrients too.

I love Bryan's outfit. I got this for him while visiting Cars Land in Disney's California Adventure last year. I'm so glad he was able to fit into it this year!

When we got to DHS we went to our first FP, which was Star Tours! I knew Eva and Caylee would not be interested in this and neither was CS. Instead the twins took them to meet characters and you know CS was on board with that. The dads were all with us and so was Sophie and Mimi.

Hyperspace glasses on!!

None of us was the Rebel Spy so then we left and headed out. We must have stopped along the way though at Backlot Express to use the facilities or something because I ended up with a frozen banana, my breakfast of choice on busy mornings when we don't' have breakfast plans.

I think we also watched a bit of Jedi Training. Up until the trip Sophie and Mimi said they wanted to do this but now they said they didn't want to. So we just watched for a bit. Maybe next time for them!

Meanwhile I think this was what everyone else was up to!

Sienna: I somehow don't think she is a real doctor....

CT1 had to juggle both kids who did not want to pose with Doc McStuffins. It's too bad because I think they like Doc McStuffins regularly!

I was happily a bit solo for a while enjoying my coffee but now the barrage of texts came asking what was our next FP was...doesn't anyone open their app? Apparently not! So I told them all to meet at Toy Story!

While waking there I noticed they had already put up signs for the new ride that replaced TGMR.

Wow that was quick! They waste no time. :(

On the way to TSM I caught a glimpse of Vader heading towards A Galaxy Far Far Away show.

We all went on Toy Story. I went with DH and he beat me, darn. In fact I don't' think I beat him at all this trip. Grrr. Have to rectify that in two weeks.
Eva didn't really care for the shooting rides apparently as she said it was just ok. Haha.

After Toy Story I think we all split up again. Kelly and her family went to take some PP pictures, and I went with the twins into One Mans Dream as they wanted to get out of the heat.

Here's Us in One Man's Dream. I think we just wanted to cool down a bit since it was so hot, so we just sat among the exhibits.

We then decided to check out someplace to eat so we went to ABC Commissary as it's large enough for find enough space for our group. We ate some burgers and fries. I didn't really eat much so I just picked from everyone's fries (there were a lot!) and stole a chicken finger from Chunkysis. I don't think DH even ate. He take's his 'Ohana dinners very seriously so he tries not to fill up before. #mealprep.

Sienna's lunch today: some sort of berry puree.

Sophie and Mimi had some pretzels:

Soon it was time for our last FP of the day, the 2pm showing of the Frozen Singalong so we all met up there. I think everyone enjoyed this because the kids were entertained and it was cool inside. Haha. We got some great seats in the middle-ish.

The kids thought it was really fun at the end when it started snowing in the theater.

Sienna: The cold never bothered me anyway.

By this time I think the kids were done, and they were hankering to go to the pool anyways, so we all decided to head back to the Poly. All of us except CS of course, who headed to MK for more character pictures since she was wearing her Tsum Tsum dress.

Coming up...dinner with my ohana at 'Ohana!

I am anxiously awaiting your dinner at 'Ohana post. We have not tried it yet, so I am looking forward to reading about your experience. I have reserved it for three years in a row but have ended up canceling two of those years. This is the third try, and I was determined to go through with it, but now I am debating keeping 'Ohana dinner after an AK day this time (Yak & Yeti would be lunch - we would order a light meal - salad or apps) or starting our AK day with an early lunch at Sanaa and then ending the AK day with Yak & Yeti. This would also be our last night, so I want it to be a good one. We prefer simple schedules and not crazy loud meals, so I'm leaning towards 'Ohana being a bad fit but on the other hand, DH would love all the meat and I'm craving a drink in a pineapple. Wish there was time for everything in one trip!

Thanks so much for the pearl cage links. I am going to get the sterling silver ones for DD and I and give it to her either for Christmas or on our first Epcot day during our January trip.

Love all the pics - as usual! Your family sounds like the most perfect travel group. I love that you all are completely fine with each other doing their own things at times but then coming together for meals and rides that you all enjoy.

Aaaaaah...maybe if I just closed my eyes for a bit they will never find me...
I felt like this several times on our trip... but I could never get away! Even if I headed for the bathroom someone had to come.
I was happily a bit solo for a while enjoying my coffee but now the barrage of texts came asking what was our next FP was...doesn't anyone open their app? Apparently not! So I told them all to meet at Toy Story!
Same here! No one else looks at anything. Did they all figure out how to get there? We had to tell people...

I got a moment to just sit and relax with my iced coffee near the confectionery.
Pure bliss. :lovestruc

While waking there I noticed they had already put up signs for the new ride that replaced TGMR.
They didn't waste any time there. :sad2:

Also can't wait for your O'hana post! We've gone several times and have loved it, hope you had a great experience as well.

Have a great time!! I will be in the World through 10/30 so if I see you, please excuse in advance my fan girl reaction. :flower3:

Love how seriously the hubs takes O'Hana. Clearly a pro!!

Totally know what you mean about brief moments alone. Bliss! You have the patience of a saint to be coordinating for that big crew. Although they do seem pretty easy going and agreeable - not to mention photogenic!

I need to read your update but I wanted to quickly say have a GREAT time on the cruise!!! If I don't remember to text you between now and Saturday when you leave I will most definitely text you before we get down there. Cannot wait to see you guys :goodvibes

We set sail on the Disney Magic this Saturday for Marvel Day at Sea! Then right after we're off to WDW for our 2nd go around at Food and Wine and MNSSHP.

What a great few weeks you have planned!

I got a moment to just sit and relax with my iced coffee near the confectionery. Aaaaaah...maybe if I just closed my eyes for a bit they will never find me...

:lmao: If I had such a large family and they were traveling with me I'm sure I'd feel the same way!

Sienna: I somehow don't think she is a real doctor....

Kids say the darndest things!

While waking there I noticed they had already put up signs for the new ride that replaced TGMR.

When ToT became GotG, they were dismantling the ride before it officially closed.

I didn't really eat much so I just picked from everyone's fries (there were a lot!) and stole a chicken finger from Chunkysis. I don't think DH even ate. He take's his 'Ohana dinners very seriously so he tries not to fill up before. #mealprep.

I can understand that. I have such a small appetite that I wouldn't eat all day so that I would be starving!

Sienna: Why is her head so big?

I'm with Sienna, it's a little creepy when a character who is supposed to be a preschooler is over 5 feet tall. . . LOL.

He take's his 'Ohana dinners very seriously so he tries not to fill up before. #mealprep.
I'll have to prep myself for your next update. I'll have to eat while I'm reading it since I always get so hungry with your food pictures. I'm looking forward to it, since I'll be headed to Ohana on my upcoming trip. It's definitely one of my most anticipated meals!

I personally bought a nicer one for myself
I have to get this now. I have a Pearl from many visits back that I haven't done anything with.

We set sail on the Disney Magic this Saturday

Ww that sounds like a lot of great meets.
