My DH, DS10, and I all did our GAD today. We helped out an organization that assists adults with disabilities live normal lives, get jobs in the community, and live in their own houses, apt, etc. The woman who runs it, started the organization after she had an accident and was laid up in the hosiptal for a few weeks. She thought to herself, what would happen to her disabled daughter if she had passed away....Well they get a lot of donations and it's hard for her to go through them all. So we spent the day organizing crafts that were completed, crafts that need to be completed, and things that could just be thrown away. Any crafts that need to be completed, she is donating to a nursing home so that they can have craft days. The time went by fast. She had received 100 stovetop popcorn poppers. Turns out the place that had donated them had had a huge flood, and the boxes were musty smelling. She had removed them from the the boxes and had DS demolish them with a hammer. She is going to go recycle the aluminum. What a way to earn a Disney day, pounding pots, and letting out the energy/aggression. It was a fun day, and all the kids enjoyed themselves. The name of the event was awesome, and fitting. Whistle while you work.
