Perhaps an odd question, place to take a break?

Hi everyone, I will be spending a day at the parks next fall with my husband and my BFF in September. My husband has MS along with other medical issues and will need to take a break in the afternoon. I am doubtful that he will go back to the hotel since we are there only 1 day. Can anyone recommend a place with comfy chairs (in or outside) that we could hit for him to take a break? I appreciate all help.

Not necessarily "comfy chairs" but our out of the way places to rest/take a break are:

IOA - the tables inside or outside of the Burger restaurant with the Jurassic park skeletons as long as it isn't crowded or meal time, there have always been lots of open tables.
There are/were some benches by the water by the comic store but that may now be a smoking area.
The outside area behind three broomsticks - again as long as there isn't a wait for tables but I rarely see people eating out there.

UO - The tables along the water behind the Simpsons bar.
The tables in the Monster café - again unless there is a wait but this restaurant has so much seating and lots of small rooms and I have never seen it crowded
The tables outside the animal show

Kind of OT but I would consider booking a late lunch in a full service restaurant, this way your guaranteed seating, good food and a break.

Could you stay at an onsite hotel? Hard Rock and Royal Pacific are a less than 10 minute walk to the parks.

Otherwise- Book a sit down meal at Mythos. Go and see some shows (though I'm having a hard time envisioning comfy seating at them). I know there's an AMEX lounge for people who buy their park tickets with AMEX (I think that's who the lounge is for??). I like sitting on the steps near Gringotts in Diagon Alley but also probably not what you meant. Same goes for the benches in Knockturn Alley.

There are plenty of restaurants though that could provide a rest if it doesn't have to be super comfy. No reservations needed.

I think we will stay onsite at RPR but my hubby will not want to leave the park since we just have that one day. He is a super man and will want to see the park with us, especially Harry Potter area. I certainly appreciate all of the suggestions you both have given me.

I just thought that since getting to the hotel was no longer to get to than park hopping, it could be an option. Not a big time suck. :)

I would go to the Three Broomsticks and order a hot butterbeer and take it out on the back patio. It's one of our favourite places to sit and hot butterbeer is delicious!!!!

I agree with booking a lunch at Mythos. But request indoor seating as the outdoor tables were not very comfortable. I also agree with benches near knockturn alley. In Jurassic world there is seating by the kids pterodactyl ride.

The Jimmy Fallon ride is a good break area if you can snag a couch while you wait inside.

I agree to plan a sit down lunch makes a nice recuperation period.
City Walk has several options.

I think if you purchase your tickets with Amex card, you can use the Amex lounge in the park. It’s not plush, but it’s a place to sit and have some water. I found it really tricky to find. We only used it once. At the time I had a very bad knee and needed a break. Our last park day I ended up using a wheelchair.

I’ve never had the need to visit while at Universal, but does Universal have a first aid area like Disney does? If so, that can be a place to sit for a bit as well.

Yes. Yes yes. Or a cold/frozen one if it’s hot outside.

Go see the Horror Makeup Show. It's 20 minutes of free AC!

Also, the tables by the Green Eggs and Ham Cafe in Seuss Landing are generally never crowded and a good place to sit for a while.

Will you be touring the Studios, Islands of Adventure, or both?

Studios: Horror Makeup Show, Knockturn Alley in Diagon Alley, Jimmy Fallon (these were all already mentioned, and I agree these a great options)
IoA: Mythos restaurant, Three Broomsticks (I've not personally used the back seating but I think I will next trip)

I had forgotten all about that patio! I loved it when we "discovered" it a few years ago. Putting that on my list again!

I was going to mention the Horror Make-up Show. It is air-conditioned with comfy chairs. Or the Animal Actors show. Not air-conditioned and the benches are kind of uncomfortable, but it is a great place to stop moving for a bit.

One thing that caught my attention is that you are going in September. We regularly go towards the end of September and it is going to be HOT. Like surface of the sun HOT. It is quite likely that NONE of your party is going to be able to make it all day without a break. So plan 2 hours (or so) to go back to your hotel and freshen up (travel time 30 mins round-trip, 1 hour of down time, 30 mins to settle in and to get moving again) so you can all finish the day strong. If your husband feels that he needs more than that (maybe heading back to the hotel a bit earlier), the fact that you will be following soon may take the sting out of it. And if you are lucky, you can also time it to miss the usual mid-afternoon rain (we've gotten quite lucky/skilled at timing this).

Also, the early entry park is likely to open at 7 a.m. (in September, Studios is usually the EE park) so you will probably have about 11-12 park hours. With the Express Pass and likely low crowds (assuming that you are not going over Labor Day weekend), you should be able to fit A LOT into the day. Missing a couple of hours so that you can finish the day strong is probably a good trade-off.

Yes. Yes yes. Or a cold/frozen one if it’s hot outside.

They do have a first aid area near the entrance. I have been escorted there because I cut myself on a ride and asked at a store if they had band aids, and they overreacted a little bit. :) There were at least chairs inside.

With hhn starting early September (6)
and you want to book one night at rpr, think about booking the room soon

Once it is May next year, rates will probably increase due to demand

Suggest you do your full day at UO on a Monday or a Tuesday as crowds would be less and park hours would be longer

The Studios will close at 5:00 on hhn dates but IOA will be open longer

No dates have been released yet for hhn, only date it begins

We will be there on a Thursday only. I’m hoping being September 12, the crowds won’t be horrible and kids are in school.

If you have P2P tickets, you can leave the studios at 4:30 and go to IOA
Perhaps beat any others that head over there at 5 or after
