Anyone else had this "virus"? I had strep throat a couple weeks ago and half way through my antibiotics I started feeling really awful. I had dizziness, nausea and plugged and ringing ears and felt like my throat was closing up. I went back to the doctor who gave me some vague suggestions about it being an inner ear virus. It's been 20 days!! And I've felt like this every day! I have an appointment with and Ears, Nose and Throat doctor at the end of July. I am starting to get a little depressed because there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. Anyone else have a similar problem? Is something like this actually going around or am I a freak case? I'm getting worried. Any encouragement would be greatly appreciated!! (and pixie dust!)

I think going to an ear, throat and nose specialist is the answer..

About a week or so ago, I had the worse case of vertigo.. it actually scared me and I was vomiting terribly, it lasted one full day.. and I was in bed that whole day. I am sorry this is happening to you and I would get to a specialist as soon as you can..

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't get an appointment until the end of July. I REALLY hope the symptoms are gone way before then.

Have you tried the ER? I'm not sure what specialists they have there, but if you have good insurance, it definately couldn't hurt. I would also ask the ENT to put you on a cancel list incase something opens up sooner. Good Luck and I hope you feel better:goodvibes

Are you really sure it was strep you had and not mono? I would suggest being tested for mono in the mean time but of course I had mono for a month and never tested positive.

Are you taking anything for allergies? I get all the same symptoms when my sinus/allergy problems are acting up.

Does sound like inner ear infection to me.I have ear problems all my life and tho's are some of the symptoms I get also..

I went to my chiropractor yesterday and he diagnosed me with an "Atlas compression which was irritating a cranial nerve".
He did an adjustment and said my symptoms should subside in 36 hours or so.
I really trust my chiro, and he's helped me in the past so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he's right and it's not something worse. If I'm not feeling better by Monday, I guess I'll have to start over. :headache:
I've been taking various allergy medications and they only make me feel loopy, and don't do much of anything else. I have thought about testing for mono, and that will probably be my next step.
Thanks!

I have something similar right now. It started off with a fever and aches, then conjunctivitis, which was very bad. My eyes were stuck together and I could barely see. Then a few days later my head felt like it was going to explode, my throat was itchy and felt like it was closing up and my right eardrum ruptured. Of course this happened at night, so I couldn't even go to the doctor. I actually felt a little better after that, but a couple days later the feeling came back and I thought my left eardrum was also going to rupture, so I ran to the ENT.

He gave me Cipro and eardrops, my my head is still all clogged up. He said my sinuses looked ok, so why am I so stuffy? I feel nauseous from the antibiotics or the illness and dizzy and I can't hear a thing.

Let me know if the chiropractor actually helped because I've never been to one, but at this point I think I would go if it would help, because nothing else is helping.

I hope you feel better!

Don't get discouraged. The ENT is a great idea. I have had all of these symptoms. One time the plugged ears were because I actually had cotton from my q-tips in there which caused and infection. The ENT vacuumed my ears out. Hooray!! I could hear. I also have suffered with the dizzies for several years. Actually started after a trip to Disney. After an MRI, "maybe" a brain tumor diagnosis and a bunch of other stuff, went to an accupunture person, who fixed me. It was a combo of several things. Now I feel great!! If the ENT can't figure it out, go to someone else. It's a pain, but you have to stay proactive about your care, cause honestly they aren't. Hang in there! :yay:

I was diagnosed with a pinched nerve in my neck. Weird, huh? It seems that a pinched nerve can cause a slew of symptoms including everything I have plus loss of sensation in my arms, tingling in my feet, numbness in my face and back of throat... I had an MRI which was normal. I'm still going to see the ENT and a Neurologist just to be safe. I was convinced it was turning into something terrible, but my Dr and Chiropractor assure me that it's not a brain tumor or MS causing the problems. They both said that Strep throat can lead to irritation of the cranial nerves and that is most likely what is going on.
Thanks for the encouragement! :)
