Asking for a friend... he would like to propose to his girlfriend in front of the castle but we're unsure if there is a suitable area to do so, can anyone give us some easy to follow pointers of where would be a good spot?

Also, is there anyway we can organise for a Disney photographer to capture the moment? Even if he has to ask on the day, just not sure if that's possible?

Thinking at worst he could tell his girlfriend he had organised an offical to take a photo of them in front of the castle and then propose?

    Any ideas welcome :)

I think unless someone in your party is completely fluent in Japanese you're going to have a very hard time arranging a photographer. When we were in TDR in June '17 there were not that many photographers just roaming the park and in general they were not interested in taking pictures of foreigners. (If they're Japanese then this might be a lot easier...) It's not like WDW or DL.

The plaza in front of the castle is pretty open and depending on park crowds might work for a place to propose.

I guess it depends upon what the proposee would like. I presume that they're inclined to like a "big", public proposal right in front of the castle, instead of something quieter and more private?

I think the proposer will have trouble finding a cast member / photographer right when they need them. I'm sure a local would be happy to take photos, but they may not know what to do once the proposal starts to unfold and the proposer would have no guarantee of the quality of the photos.

Maybe try emailing Tokyo Disney to see if you get any kind of legible response in English?

Thanks for your replies. The person being proposed to is a huge Disney fan and being that we're Australian, we don't get very many opportunities to indulge so the castle proposal feels like it would be a dream come true. Having said that, if you guys can think of a more 'Disney' way to do it, were all ears .

The photographer idea was wishful thinking I guess, you see these great photos online but understand that that's not the Same in Japan. I think at the very least, they will be able to ask another visitor to take a photo afterward.

It's hard to tell without knowing the couple but has he considered proposing over a romantic meal - the Blue Bayou springs to mind. then, there's still the at Disney element without the spectacle of a public proposal.

Of course if he wants to go out I'd also suggest the Plaza Gardens area.

DisneySea offers a number of lovely proposal options. For example, while taking a gondola ride, especially through the Venetian portion. Or on the upper / forward deck of the SS Columbia, especially at night. Or crossing the Italian style bridge. Or somewhere on the upper fort.

There are also the "fun" options like Splash Mountain or Space Mountain with a sign that is shown in the ride photo.

Another option may be the Mickey meet and greet. IF you use google translate or another program to write your idea (i.e. the proposal) and somehow secretly show it to the cast member when in line. Then you would have Mickey and professional photos.
