As long as everyone who’s in the park at opening can get a BG, this does seem the most logical solution. Putting aside Xmas week, when all bets are off, the big issue I see would be if they do get to a point where people in the park at rope drop cannot get a BG and do not have hoppers, I’d suspect they’ll want to go to a different park instead. Curious to see how guest services handles that if it happens.
The only way I could see that possibly happening is (a) when the official opening returns to 8am or later; or (b) if the the tapstiles are ever allowed to open an hour before official opening. I think the bigger threat is some kind of ride meltdown but so far so good.

My hunch is that once the ride is fairly reliable you should be pretty safe for at least 5-10 minutes once BGs open. I’m there end of January so have a bit of time to see how it works. Going to DHS at rope drop and if we get a late group will just walk to Epcot and head back later.

Does anyone know how they assign BG once it hits 7? Is there some random generator?

It's fastest draw of the app, not random except for the factor of how long your own app takes to realize boarding groups are open compared to others, and how many people have managed to enter the park by then. It's just that a matter of a second could put you back by 30 boarding groups or more.

I wonder if the Christmas crowds will be such, that when the boarding groups open some people might be shut out right then...

Would require twice the amount they've been getting at an hour earlier than they've been getting it. Unlikely I think.

Hollywood Boulevard is DHS' Main Street. It stretches from the entrance (after the tapstiles) up to the area in front of the Chinese Theater.

On the blog it says we may welcome guests onto Hollywood Boulevard prior to opening the rest of the park, so that means you could be wandering around the park for a bit, getting a drink & then you could be sitting on Starbucks when the BG’s open on the app?

Exactly. Sunset Boulevard (ToT and RnR) and Echo Lake (Indiana Jones and Star Tours) will be blocked off by CMs until the park officially opens. It will be similar to the current opening procedure at MK.

If you want to be on MFSR or SDD first with minimal waits, you may want to be close towards the front to be escorted over right when the park opens.

If anybody is at the parks in the coming days, can you report back on whether you can check-in for Jedi Training when Hollywood Blvd opens or do they make you wait to do that until the park officially opens. Thanks! That might be of interest to folks as they attempt to fit in grabbing a BG, getting to MFSR quickly thereafter AND registering for JTA (which is seemingly less of a priority than ever at this point...)

I like the sound of being able to be sat down for a coffee & breakfast somewhere while being on my phone trying to get into a boarding group for rise of the resistance. I’m kinda used to being in queues early for rail for concerts but my husband’s fibromyalgia can be different from day to day & he uses a stick so the being able to sit down is more for him than me. It’s one less worry if that’s what they will let us do.

Yes please - my little boy is desperate to do Jedi Training academy! My little girl too, but she will be just shy of her 4th birthday which is a shame (her name is Rey.......)

Crowds will be lower but I am curious when the heavy crowds will start showing up

Left Swan at 536 and through security in line at 546. About 20 minutes later than yesterday. Almost same position.
