We will be arriving about 8am on our arrival day and have a early lunch reservation for Lilo and Stich Brunch @ Poly. Was thinking of busing to MK and taking monorail to Poly. Kids have never been to disney world so thought the ride on monorail would be great.

We are going last week of August. Any ideas for other things to do on maybe a resort hopping trip after brunch

It would be easy to ride the monorail over to the Grand Floridian to look around. Or you could ride a boat.

Also sounds like a great day to head to Disney Springs.

Take the monorail to the Contemporary. Check out the gift shop and then go down to the ground floor and go out towards the boat dock. Take the boat to Fort Wilderness. There is a nice playground near the shore, right next to the restaurants. It is one of the only real playgrounds you will find at Disney. And it is in the shade. If you walk past the restaurants then you will see a coral with adorable ponies. Beyond that is a horse stable that you can explore.

You can get back to MK by taking a boat.

I would monorail hope to GF and CR, get off at CR and take the boat to WL (go look at the lobby) and then the boat to Ft. W (there is a playground there, a cute gift shop and the stables where they house all of WDW's horses). You can then take the boat back to MK and even hop on a bus to another resort (AKL is gorgeous or head over to the Boardwalk to take a look. If it's early evening, there is entertainment on the Boardwalk). You could also take a bus to Disney Springs from there.

The fort wilderness is a great idea but we are going to be doing that on the afternoon of our non park day as will be checking out chip and dales sing along up there

Was thinking could do what some have said and see CR and GF then maybe take monorail to epcot and walk the boardwalk but how much is the construction in that area at the resorts impacting the experience

Unfortunately, you cannot get to the Boardwalk by taking the monorail. The boardwalk area is on the opposite side of Epcot from the monorail - you would need to enter Epcot (using a ticket) to walk to the international gateway at the back of World Showcase to get to the Boardwalk.

You can take a bus from Epcot to the Boardwalk Inn.

Or take the monorail to MK and then take a bus to Boardwalk Inn. The downside of this is taking your children who have never been to Disney to the front gates of the MK and then getting them out of there!!

Either way it's a 2-step process.

You can take a bus from Epcot to the Boardwalk Inn.

Boardwalk and the other Epcot area resorts do not have a bus that goes to and from Epcot. They would have to take the monorail to the MK bus depot and then catch the Boardwalk bus. :)

How busy of a road is epcot drive? as could just walk the 3 miles to the resorts going along the roadways, even less if cut across the wold drive to the dirt road clearing to beach club parking area then its only 2 miles

Disney doesn't like to have its guests walking along the roads.

If you want to get to the Boardwalk from CR or any of the MK area resorts, then take the bus to Hollywood Studios. There is a walkway that leads to the boardwalk and other Epcot resort hotels. It is a nice 20 minute walk from the DHS bus depot to the Boardwalk. :)

We always like to resort hop, enjoy the pool, and have a great meal on our first day. It gets us in the vacation mode while keeping us rested to get an early start the next morning. It sounds like you are on the right track!

I'd take the monorail to the Contemporary and Grand Floridian, as others have said. Then I'd take a bus from whatever resort you end up in to Hollywood Studios. Walk towards the entrance then down the boat ramp and take the Friendship boat over to the Boardwalk to walk around.

You could even visit Wilderness Lodge and check out the fireplace in the lobby and the geyser by the pool. No going into the pool, but just walk by it from the boat dock to the lobby.
