Pre-trippie
Day 1

Day 2
Monday 24 July

Had a good night's sleep at the Premier Inn and were up, showered and ready to leave the hotel by 8:45. Mark was getting the train home so we walked him to the station, said our goodbyes and picked up some supplies from the local shop. Our car was just parked across the road from the hotel so we were soon on our way out of Manchester and headed to Liverpool Airport. I knew we'd be early but wanted to head off anyway in case of early morning traffic.

We were in Liverpool just after 10am and headed to the local retail park in search of an adaptor for Abbey's iphone. She'd brought the wrong earphones with her, but we had no luck in any of the shops we tried. After a stroll around we drove the short journey to the airport, parked the car and dropped off our case. Through security we were soon enjoying some breakfast.

Lewis did some shopping and bought the new Barcelona football top (he doesn't really ask for anything at Disney these days so wanted to spend his money on this instead). Abbey found the earphone adaptor in the small Sony shop in the airport, so she was happy :music:

Soon we were boarding and took off on time at 13:10

The flight was ok, we all had headphones and were listening to music or watching stuff on our phones. There were a couple of upset kids on the flight and I felt for their parents.

Passport control was quick and our bag arrived safely too. John from Ezyshuttle was waiting for us in arrivals and were were soon on our way. John told us that there had been an accident on the motorway so we'd be going the back routes which would take about 10 minutes longer, so we reached Disney at about 16:45.

Check-in was quick and I explained we'd be adding 3 adults to the booking - no problems at all. It cost us 22.30E for the 3 nights. I was given my breakfast and dinner vouchers and was told it would cost me approx 15E to eat in the restaurant for breakfast, more for the others without the voucher but I didn't ask how much.

Our room was in Gramercy Park, 2205.

We had a tea tray this time with kettle, selection of tea/coffee/milk/sugar and paper cups - never had this before. Also a bottle of water and glasses:

The bathroom had a fancy new hairdryer, lol

Loved these 25th Anniversary coasters

P1060652 (640x480).jpg

We dumped our stuff and got ready for our evening in the parks. It was sunny, windy and looked like it might rain so I packed a couple of brollys, sunglasses and we all took hoodies! Be prepared!

It was lovely to be back, strolling through the village. 25th Anniversary decorations all over:

We headed straight for Disneyland Park and the Disneyland Hotel looked beautiful in the sun

The entrance is just gorgeous - I could have stood and watched the changing lights all day

P1060658 (640x480).jpg

The kids wanted to check out Pirates first as it was officially opening today. So, our usual route took is through Liberty Arcade. The boarding house looking lovely too:

We stopped off in Frontierland - love all these new photo points around the park:

P1060660 (640x480).jpg

We tried for BTM fast passes but there were none left and BTM was down just now. Onwards towards Pirates in Adventureland and Pirates was closed too - boohoo....

We checked the app on my phone and the Darth Vader Meet was showing a 10 minute wait so off we went to Discoveryland. For anyone wondering, the queue outside is the only queue, so once you're inside you're pretty much there. It was only a 10 minute wait which was great.

Abbey was first up:

Then Lewis. Lewis is a huge Star Wars fan and he was so looking forward to this.

Both the kids thought this was the best meet they've ever done, probably because Darth Vader speaks to you and is really quite intimidating. When we were outside in the queue a CM as speaking to everyone to make sure they were aware this was a meet only and quite a few people left the queue when they realised this. Anyway, it was a hit with us :)

We were hungry now so headed down Main St to leave the park and go to Annette's.

There was a small queue outside but we didn't wait more than 15 minutes or so. We had the same lovely waitress as we'd had in February - and very nearly the same table.

We all had the Rock n Roll Burger and a soft drink each - total bill was 79.66E with shareholders discount. Service was quick and as always we really enjoyed our meal here.

As we were leaving here we checked the App again and Pirates was showing open with a 30 minute wait so we headed back in through the park.

The queue moved quickly - tip for Pirates is use the right hand lane.....a bit quicker when both loading areas are open.

The new effects where fantastic and the sequence at the beginning going up the climb was actually quite eerie! Very vibrant colours, swinging pirate (although he's a different one....the last guy must have been sacked due to constant lack of swinging...) and different scenes. The appearance of Jack Sparrow doesn't spoil the ride at all and I really think younger children would totally expect to see Jack in there so it makes sense that he's there now. I tried to take pictures but was paranoid about not using my flash so didn't get anything decent.

Some pirate hat trying on:

Another look at the app (this was to become the theme of this holiday) and we were off to Phantom Manor with a 5 minute wait - or walk on.....

P1060681 (640x480).jpg

The ride was great, we'd missed this in February so it was nice to see it again - everything working too :)

We took our time as we left and had a look around Boot Hill. Lewis and I love these headstones - it's usually overgrown around this area and you can't normally see Frank Ballard's mum in the background scowling.....

P1060682 (640x480).jpg

Checking our app we made our way to Star Tours showing a 15 minute wait. On our way we stopped in Central Plaza to look at the lovely decorations:

The queue moved quickly and we enjoyed looking at everything on the way. DH and I have never seen any of the Star Wars films but our kids all love it so we've picked up quite a bit about them.

P1060691 (640x480).jpg

P1060692 (640x480).jpg

The ride is 3D now and was really good - we all enjoyed it except DH who gets queasy on stuff like this.

The Starport looking lovely all refurbished - I think they've done a great job with this and it makes much more sense to use the old arcade area as the shop.

P1060694 (640x480).jpg

Time now for a wander down Main St and through some shops. We popped into the Cable Car and got some muffins/cookies for later. Lewis got a pick and mix from the sweet shop and I got some amazing strawberry fudge to take back home. Then we left the park and had a look around World of Disney. Abbey had been searching for some ears and although she's seen some nice lilac ones, she wanted the gold glitter and finally found them in here. Lewis also did some hat trying on...

P1060695 (480x640).jpg

I got some tea towels, a small purse to hold my Disney stuff and a new shopping bag.

We headed back to the hotel and stopped off in the New York City Bar for some drinks.P1060932 (640x480).jpg

P1060698 (640x480).jpg

Abbey had the 25th anniversary cocktail

P1060699 (640x480).jpg

DH pushed the boat out and had a coke

P1060701 (640x480).jpg

Lewis and I both had the non-alcoholic 25th Anniversary cocktail

P1060700 (480x640).jpg

We got some bits from the shop and then went back to our room to settle down and relax. Lights out around midnight - it had been a long day.....EMH tomorrow?

Thank you :flower1:

I think you can get the cocktail at any of the bars in the hotels but I don't really know as I've not been to the others. There is an alcoholic and non alcoholic version available, very fruity :thumbsup2

Yes, the glow part is a plastic cube that glows different colours if you take it out and press the button on the back - we took ours home with us to use here too :goodvibes
