Teri and Family, Days 1-4 (highlights)

My chances of actually doing a trip report are quite low... I got sick as soon as I got home, life is busy. So here are some highlights.

On the scene, me, my overworked DH Bob, my DD MaryAlice (10, charming, a bit low-tone and some learning disabilities but you hardly notice) and our son Marc (8, a bit autistic, the biggest Disney fan there is.)

We arrived at Wilderness Lodge Thanksgiving night exhausted and hungry, having worked for several days straight cleaning everything out of the house for the painters.
Next day Bob and Mary Alice wnet horseback riding at Ft. Wilderness, Marc and I went to the petting zoo and he rode a pony. As soon as my scanner is up, you get pictures.

I became the laughing stock of InTouch Radio by dropping my unit into the toilet. Although I know the guy was trying to keep his voice straight, there were moments of crystal silence that could only have come from his hitting the mute button so I wouldn't hear the hysterical laughter. Their replacement service was superb, the representative was extremely kind and did everything possible to avoid cracking up as he reprogrammed our radios.

At the same time, Bob and Marc got stranded on the lagoon when the propeller on the watermouse abandoned ship. They had to be rescued and towed, and they got an extra half-hour for the ordeal. I might have known the deal if I hadn't just dropped the radio into the toilet...

We went to La Nouba that night, it was spectacular.

Next day, we hung by the pool and relaxed. We took the boat to Magic Kingdom for a very short visit, but it was very busy so we didn't do much. DIS meet at 3:00, with Matt (Eeyorestail), DonnaS and Roger, NancyIL, Dan Murphy, my family. Roger and Dan took pictures... can't wait to see them! We hung out at a table between the pool and the marina, watched a spectacular sunset over the water. My Bob and kids went on to DisneyQuest, later Dan drove Nancy and me over to Downtown Disney. Dan and I had a long talk over food from the Gourmet Pantry, sitting at a table by the water's edge, looking over the sparkling lights of Downtown Disney. Lovely.

Next day, we had a fun breakfast at Whispering Canyon before we moved over to Boardwalk Villas. (Marc had a hard time at Whispering Canyon, very overstimulating, but he got through it after some work.) We got there before noon and I asked for a Boardwalk view near the elevators... she said no, then I sighed and said, "Well, I can dream anyway!" She took pity on us, and very nicely found a Boardwalk View room over the General Store (2 floors up from the multi-stripe awning) which had the most beautiful view you could imagine of Spaceship Earth. Marc was in heaven! I will never again have such a perfect room for my family, at this stage of our lives it was about as good as it gets.

We had lots of fun at MGM and EPCOT that day, With the highlight being given special seating in the viewing area next to the Rose and Crown for Illuminations by some very kind CMs. It was very special. Eating Fish and Chips, drinking Bass Ale from a plastic cup, watching my kids love the fireworks - life couldn't be better!

Thanks for posting so soon after your return! Meeting you and fellow DISers was a highlight for me!

I spent most of that rainy Sunday at Epcot, then MGM - before going on the Illuminations cruise with Donna and Roger (and others).

Nancy, were you guys sitting in the pontoon boat right at the bridge near the International Gateway? We were right there on the viewing area next to the waterway, I was wondering if you guys were out there!

Yep - our pontoon boat was "parked" under that bridge, alongside about 5 other boats! I'm glad you had a great viewing spot, too - and REALLY glad the rain finally stopped. :)

Our pontoon boat was the one to the right of the Breathless as you face Illuminations.

I'll really try to get those photos up this evening. I've been putting in late nights trying to catch up on my Web Design class. Last night I took the last midterm and did my final project so I should have a little more evening time now.

It was great to see all of you and thanks for giving me a laugh Teri. I had totally forgotten about the InTouch incident you had!

I'm looking forward to readng the rest of your highlights of your trip! :)

Hi Teri,
I noticed that you ate at Rose/Crown during Illuminations. Did you have a P/S, and if so for what time. My kids want to eat fish/chips and watch as well. What are your suggestions to accomplish this. Thanks.

We got our fish and chips at the concession outside the R&C, no PSs that night. My son is autistic and he was being a bit difficult, the nice CMs were giving us a break by letting us into the area where we could sit down and be away from the crowd. We don't do PSs when the kids are with us, too unpredictable. We always do off hours at restaurants when possible. Sorry I can't help more. The fish and chips from the concession were excellent!

Giggle, giggle. Snicker, snicker. :D Teri, you guys really know how to entertain. :D

It must have been really wonderful meeting the other DISers. I saw Dan's pictures. You all looked like you were having so much fun. :)

I'm glad you got such a wonderful view. Isn't the lake just beautiful? Especially at night with all of the lights shimmering on it. Ahhhhhh...the memories. :)

Thanks for sharing your trip highlights with us, Teri.

Lisa :)

The walkie talkie story is just too funny - sounds like something I would do. Thanks for posting!
