The B2B on the Fantasy that wasn't meant to be, thanks to Irma

We had actually booked the back to back some time ago, and we always had driven to the port when we come depart and return from the same port, until this set of cruises. We had contacted DCL just to check prices and felt that we could splurge this time, so we booked the air. Our cruises were on the Fantasy from 2-9, 9-16 September. Our original departure was supposed to have a connection in Houston on the morning of 9/2 arriving at MCO around 12:30. On the morning of 8/28 I contacted DCL to see if we should change our flights due to Harvey hitting Texas. I wanted to try to move our flights, if needed to get out of Harvey's path. Especially with the flight being on the same day as the first leg of our B2B.

That afternoon, 8/28 DCL contacted me to change my flight to the day before (9/1) flying into MCO. We were responsible for the overnight stay because we requested to change the flight. I contacted the Hyatt at the MCO airport and booked for the night of 9/1. Transportation by motor coach had already been laid on, so there was no issue.

More to come.

We flew out on 9/1 and arrived at the MCO airport around 6:30 PM. Again, we had made reservations at the Hyatt inside the airport. it's around $220 for the night, but it is truly worth it. Check in was easy and the room was extremely large. The Hyatt has an agreement with DCL, we left the bags in the room and they eventually appear outside your stateroom door. Around 9:00, the DW and I went to Chick-fil-A inside the terminal and grabbed some breakfast. We arrive at the DISNEY bus pick-up sight around 9:30. They assigned us a character for boarding and we ended up getting on the 2nd bus to the terminal. I would highly recommend flying in the night before and staying at the Hyatt, reduces all the stress on the day of...

more to come

We arrived by bus at around 10:40. We were escorted in the side down to begin our check in. It looked like only ground transportation folks were in the terminal. It was around 11am when they opened up the terminal for everyone else. I heard there had been some delays that morning.

We are Platinum so we were assigned boarding number 1. We were able to board around noon and headed up to Cabanas for lunch. Then I headed to the Royal Court at 1:00 to sign up for Palo brunch on 9/3.

By the way, right before we departed a CM went around the Terminal stating that the itinerary had been changed. We were now going to Jamaica first, followed by Grand Cayman and the Cozumel.

Around 1:30 we headed to the room. The Muster went on as normal at 4:00 pm. There was a passing shower so the Deck Party was held in the Atrium. The ship left the port around 5 pm.

I was right there with you. This was our Honeymoon cruise... Still had fun, just used our 25% off to book Honeymoon 2.0!-)
