The Journeys of Lil Medic

it is the worst, especially knowing that it is your last trip of the season.

Hoping for 3 more here.. 1) Just my younger son and I to Seaport RV resort in Mystic this weekend 2) Columbus Day weekend at Nelson’s Family Campground in East Hampton, CT (their “Halloween” weekend) and 3) Sunfox Campground in Lisbon, CT Oct 25-27 for their Halloween weekend. Never camped past Columbus Day before up here, so hope the freeze stays away... I get nervous about temps and plumbing after Columbus Day...

it is the worst, especially knowing that it is your last trip of the season. Not going to Disney ’till, not sure when. So for now I will be getting ready to winterize.
Im 50/50 on winterizing vs another trip. Even if i winterize i hold off on it just incase.

While it isn’t a camping trip, dad worked long hours for the last 3 weeks, 92 hrs. each. Today he took off from work and we are spending the weekend together as a family.
First it was off to Burlington MA. For Duluth Trading Company so he could pickup some new fleece lined jeans.

Dad is going to checkout the casinos later this evening.

Woke up this morning and got ready to head back home, hopefully before the snow storm started, no such luck. First it was to get breakfast, of course if there is a southern place to eat in the north then that is what we are having.

They have a shop in the casino. Now we where off to Albany NY, trying to stay ahead of the storm. Our first stop was to Crossgates mall. DW seen a bag she wanted for here computer and accessories, of course it had to come from the Disney store.

Next it was time for lunch, again at a southern restaurant,

Had to pickup a 50 - 30 amp adapter, just in case.
for the most part we stayed ahead of the storm and made it home, 706 miles.

when ever we travel, we find the nearest Sonic and Krispy Kreme, I wish someone would open both up on the land around Walmart in Northern Vermont.
I enjoyed your Camping adventures. we have stayed at Moose Hillock a few times. I hope to get there this summer

the land where the drive-in was in St. A is a Subaru dealer, I looked at the plans last week.

Went out last night and put the battery charger on the MH. will have to get a battery tender this year. The cold weather drained all three batteries. Have a appointment next weekend to get the new tires put on then go up the road and fill propane and fuel tank. Camping season up here is 3 weeks away. :dogdance: it’s been a long winter and we are ready for it.

Went out and took inventory of the of the things we will need to restock, other than food and clothing for now we are all set.

The new tires that are sitting in the MH.

Also bought our car dolly last month.

I have the tire pressure monitor on order will install those after the tires are put on. I ordered 10, one for each wheel touching the ground.
Also need to pickup a few more hand tools and that will be all taken care of.

Tires changed over, they where weather cracked in between the treads not on the sidewalls. The sad part was the tires where still like new. Guess I will need to by some tire covers to see if that will help.
Filled the propane tank and the fuel tank. Now to wait two weeks..

Forgot to mention, the guy that did the tires was having a hard time getting the rear ones balanced so he put a bag of balancing beads in each tire. i have never used them before so we shall see how they work.

So this is how the trip to Fl. started:
Sunday morning after getting the new tires on the day prior we decided to make reservations, we chose not to camp at Disney because of the high price per night and it was such a spare of the moment thing. The only other choice we had was the KOA in Mims. It would be a nice campground if they put a little effort into fixing the place up.
We loaded up the MH, filled the water tank and hooked up the car, their was a lite rain going on at the time. With the MH all set we headed out. Once we got on I-87, about 40 minutes from the house the sky opened up and it was pouring rain, and the wind was also gusting to 40 mph. My arms where sore from trying to stay on the road. We had a full tank of GAS when we left. We made it about 40 miles south of Albany when we had to stop for fuel, 222 miles down the road, if anyone is wondering I got 3.72 mpg with towing the car and fighting the wind gust. Filled the tank, 150.00 later and headed down the road again. It was about 6:30 and 32 miles later the girls were hungry so we pulled into the service plaza, shut everything down went in and got dinner and ate in the MH. When it was time to leave I reached over and turned the key and the MH started up but idled rough and died. It did this 3 times. Not wanting to get further down the road and have it die and needing to be towed and sitting at a repair shop we made the decision to turn around and head back home. 4 1/2 hrs of fighting the wind and rain again we pulled in disconnectedthe car and parked the MH. Everyone was upset that we where not able to get to Florida.
