Hello everyone.... Here is my TR of Disneyland Paris, land by land.
Frontierland:
First difference: Big Thunder Mountain is on an island! The station is on the shore, but at the beginning and end of the ride, there are long tunnels that takes you to and from the island.
BTM got nice visuals, but nothing really more. As soon as the train pick nice speed, brakes. But, the third lift is fun, thanks to the moving rocks and the trick track ( as the train climbs, its sways to the side a little. ). I still prefer the florida version better.
Phantom Manor got more story to it. You follow Melanie Ravenswood, a bride who desperatly waits for her groom, who was hang by the Phantom ( in the stretch room, when there's the thunder, you see the hanged groom. ). The ride is more morbid here. The best effect are the four singing statues.
Adventureland:
In the middle of Adventureland, there is Adventure Isle, with the Robinson treehouse on it and its like Tom Sawyer Island.
In a corner of Adventureland, there is Indiana Jones et le Temple du Peril... Backward! Why backward? The trains are backward. Nice theming in the waiting lines, with trucks, tents and all kind of archeological stuff. As you reach near the station, you climb a huge stairway, with the loop in front of you.
The station is very cramped. The trains are 2 cars of 3 rows, 2 riders per row. The trains got no padding and the over the shoulders restraints are very hard. The ride itself is a couple of nice drops, the vertical loop ( VERY intense ), a 540 helix and then a couple of drops and 2 turns. Very short ride, not worth the 2 hours plus waits its get on weekends. Also, the unnessary over the shoulders restraints and the 55 inches height limit..........
The Pirates of the Caribbean is longer than in florida and features 2 drops. Also... the beginning and ending of the ride is reversed!
Fantasyland: Didn't went in that part of the park yet, LOL.
Discoveryland: Where is Tomorrowland? Discoveryland is the equivalent of Tomorrowland. Its based on old Sci-fi writers.
Visionnarium is the french version of the Timekeeper. Same as in Florida.
Autopia is closed for the winter. Its like the Tomorrowland Grand Prix.
Honey, I shrunk the audience is presented in english in the week and in french on weekends. For those who need them, headphones are available for translation in half of the seats.
Star Tours is presented in french, I love the waiting line.
Space Mountain: De la Terre a la Lune. Its in the middle of Discoveryland and is the park signature ride.
The waiting line take you in the middle of the mountain and you can see the ride and its quite impressive! The loading station got a wooden ceiling and banners hang. You are assigned to a seat on either side of the station. As you enter the train, you are greeted by a speech. You lower your harness, the cast members give the signal....
You leave the station, to a fanfare coming from the 6 speakers in your seat. You do a small drop and your picture is taken. You engage in the cannon. You're held in place by brakes as the pusher vehicle hooks the fourth car of the trains ( 6 cars per trains, 4 riders of seats ). When its clear, the pusher vehicle take the train quickly up and stops... the music reach a climax, then... BOOM! You are launched in the mountain.
The music takes a quick tempo as the train turns to the left, near some asteroids, you continue turning, as you dodge more asteroids and suddenly, you dive under the walkway. You then reach the first inversion: the sidewinder. Its starts as a normam vertical loop, but 3/4 in, its twists to the left. You pass thru the Blue Moon mining company "moon sweeper" and turns to the right. You are breaked a little, go through the MOM, with sparks flying off. You turn to the right, dodge an asteroid and hits the half corkscrew, you continue turning to the right and.... you are on the B lift. Pusher tires takes you silently up the lift, the music reach the climax: you are facing the moon. Its rotates as you go up, looking at you. At the top you drop to the right, go in a trench and through an asteroid and hit the "Tongue", a huge overbanked turn. You exit the Tongue and you turn to the right, hitting 44 mph, with lights around you. You then reach the Electro De Velocitor, where you are breaked and you enter the station, to triumphant music...
