Felice Bryant, co-author of Rocky Top, dies

NASHVILLE - Felice Bryant, who with her husband Boudleaux wrote the hand-clapping bluegrass standard "Rocky Top" and hits for the Everly Brothers including "Bye Bye Love," died today at her Gatlinburg home. She was 77.
Rocky Top," written in 10 minutes in 1968 and recorded by the Osborne Brothers, became a state song in 1982, joining "Tennessee Waltz" and others. It has been the fight song for the University of Tennessee athletic teams since the early 1970s, whipping football crowds of 100,000 into a frenzy at Neyland Stadium.

No matter where I am if I hear Rocky Top, I am transported to Neyland Stadium on Football Saturdays! (I even heard Rocky Top when walking through Frontierland in Disneyland Paris. Had to buy the official CD just to prove it to my friends.)
