Upgrade from Child to Adult Preferred Annual Pass

Can you upgrade from a Child Preferred Annual Pass to an Adult Annual Pass? Planning on taking the grandkids by themselves this fall and next summer and then a family trip in 2019 - If I purchase the preferred annual pass for a now 8 year old and he will turn 10 before 2019 I can I upgrade his annual pass from child to adult in 2019? I am planning on doing the flex pay option so the annual pass will stay valid for more than 1 year.

AP's are the same price Adult vs Child. The only difference is that a child doesn't have to do a finger print scan. So they should be able to upgrade you for free.
