"We've gone too far"-A sister trip with surprise guest Irma! Sept 2017 - Completed 4/16

On my way towards the RoL theater I asked a CM for directions to the dining area and he gave me such attitude about being late! It was like, dude, chill, my sister is already there, the show hasn’t started yet, and I can’t help it now! Really rubbed me the wrong way (I think the same guy gave me attitude again the next morning, but I’ll explain that later).
I think we are so used to CM being nice that when they aren't it is so jarring. And sometimes so unnecessary.

I hope you are feeling better!

Thanks for the well wishes! I'm still feeling icky, but was good enough to head back into the office today (though I'm trying to limit my interaction with anyone else)!

Busy, busy, busy AK night! That was a lot to fit in but you managed well. I keep reading amazing reviews about the character interactions at Tusker House...I think I need to check this restaurant out myself one day!

The Tree of Life Awakening sounds so cool, glad you got to see some of it. However, what a bummer about the CM giving you grief for showing up late. He doesn't know your situation, you could've been at the First Aid station for all he knew! Yeesh.

Glad the lightning stayed away and let you see Rivers of Light!
I do love Tusker House. It was my favorite restaurant...until it got usurped by one I visited in March (but I'll leave that for my other TR).

Hi Lesley! Almost caught up with your trip report. It would take me SEVERAL WEEKS to comment on everything I found helpful/exciting/funny - so, just know I'm grateful you're sharing!

I left off at your post on Tusker House - it pushed me over the edge on something I've been waffling on (character meals!) - so I'm jumping on MDE right now to see if I can get a reservation!

(Btw, my younger sister is my go-to Disney trip person, too! I'm 33, she's 31.)
Definitely give TH a try! The food was delicious. Even though we don't really care about character meals, it was still fun with those guys!

I've been following along to all of your trip reports and plans, love how detailed you are! I'm actually planning a December trip as well renting points just a week or so after you, but unfortunately I haven't been able to rent anything yet. Enjoyign all the updates!
Good luck! Where are you trying to rent?

Day 9, Part 1: In the Big Blue World

I had planned from the start that I wanted to attempt a 4-park day on this day. After the express transport bus went away I rethought that and was still unsure going into it. But finally, we made a decision to give it a try!

We started the morning earlyish. There were am EMH at AK that morning, but we decided not to go crazy trying to make it. Instead, we grabbed breakfast at POFQ again. I went with a make your own omelet (mushrooms, swiss, and cheddar cheese), which was pretty good! Lauren got her typical chocolate croissant (looks like I don't have a photo of it...but imagine a typical chocolate croissant :P), and she also ate most of the bacon from my plate. I know I went down to the food court first; can't remember what Lauren was doing back in the room, but it worked out well because I forgot a shirt I wanted to wear at Hollywood Studios, so she was able to grab it on her way down.

OAqm8Yh.jpg

I think at that point we stopped to take care of some stuff at the front desk, because we didn’t get to AK until 1 hr after breakfast. But I can’t remember exactly what (maybe paying off part of the bill...)! :confused3

I did notice the adorable kids chair and TV though! I think I've seen similar ones at most of the resorts I've visited, and it seems a great distraction for kids!

WgWJ7bO.jpg

Arrived at AK and there were definitely more crowds this day. It appeared people who had pushed their trips back by a week had arrived, as well as people who were already scheduled to be there a week after Irma. At least we had already done pretty much everything already.

We stopped to grab a PP, who posed us funnily, and he added a Magic Shot (even though we already had that one)

zlnVs0d.jpg

First, we saw some kangaroos near the Tree of Life. I don’t think they had been out earlier that week. I love kangaroos, though the viral videos of them in Australia trying to break into people’s homes scare me! I’m good with watching them from afar!

vMhx60v.jpg

Onto Pandora, where we had a FP for FoP. I also finally noticed the weaving represented both of the rides and was their version of signage! :scratchin

jNVr80D.jpg
bmDu8Vn.jpg

FoP had a 105 minute wait time, so very happy to have FPs! We got in relatively quickly and ended up on the bottom row in the far left corner. We realized then how even though it is the same video each time, you can have a totally different experience depending on where you are located! You just end up paying attention to a different portion of the screen. And, for any future riders, don’t be worried if you get on the sides or corners, the screen is better designed than Soarin so you don’t get all that distortion, and the screen is so big you also don't feel like you are at the edge that much.

Lauren also noticed what she thought was a hidden mickey in the cave part of the screen. (I confirmed that it was definitely there when I was riding in March.) If you ride, look at the pools of water and you should see it there, but if you aren't in the room on the bottom left it's hard to get a view of it!

On our way out, I stopped by the gift shop where I got a perch for Irma (I realized she can’t really be displayed anywhere else), a shirt for myself, and a pin. Lauren also got a shirt that she’d been eyeing everytime we went through Windtraders.

I love my shirt (the maroon one), and it is nice enough to get away with wearing to work (though to be fair, I regularly wear Star Wars shirts to the office, but I guess this Pandora one is subtle enough to wear to meetings with clients too)! On our way out of Pandora we noticed some filming happening up higher, and I think it may have been for the Avatar kids who visited Pandora (https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...he-world-of-avatar-at-disneys-animal-kingdom/).

We headed up to Africa using the shortcut. Noticed some trees down in the river, and we were also greeted by the awesome musicians who we always saw when we took this path!

EHsBrJG.jpg
eDSyhD6.jpg

The guy with the guitar just loved to pose and smile for the camera!

Originally we wanted to continue clockwise to Asia, but for some reason the walkway was blocked off by CMs. We didn’t know if they were filming something or there was tree damage (didn’t make sense as we had walked that path the night before). Anyways, we were sent back down and over to Asia using the pathway on the backside of the Tree of Life. That was nice as we got a closer view of the carvings (which I loved). I remember watching specials on The Disney Channel when they were building AK, so it was cool to see all of those animals in person!

Oi7BmAQ.jpg

Into Asia and time for another ride on Everest using a FP! I even got to be one of the "friendly, experienced, and professional guides"; I agree with the friendly and experienced...professional, not so much! We were able to identify Epcot and Hollywood studios from the mountain climb. We tried to find Magic Kingdom but later realized it was just too far away and hazy to see! I think we could identify Space Mountain though!

TKYygCX.jpg
Dl55qax.jpg

Another Everest posed photo. When I showed Mom our photos she was wondering why we looked so tired!

gO306gy.jpg

After Everest, we headed down to catch Finding Nemo The Musical. I mentioned the previous night there was a mean CM who told me off for being late to RoL (even though it turned out fine). I think he was working the Nemo show too, because as we were walking to get in line, Lauren started to go to the FP entrance (thinking we had one of those). I corrected her that we didn’t, but then he yelled out, yeah, and you would have needed to get here earlier (in words it doesn’t sound bad, but it was the way he said it). Whatever dude, anyways, we made it in and were in the upper section, but still near center seats.

I really loved this show! Just a great effort from everyone and I loved all the puppetry, as well as the actors. I would definitely go again! Just have to be careful not to get “In the big blue world” stuck in my head!

I did stop to take a photo of the bench. Who knows if they will eventually replace the dragons with banshees?

bNmOm8G.jpg

About noon and we were done with Park #1 (but would be back a couple days later), and onto Park #2-Hollywood Studios..

Day 9, Part 2: "Welcome to my spaceship"

We got a bus from AK to DHS. I think it wasn't too much of a delay, because my photostamps show about 30 minutes from getting to bus stop until within DHS.

On our way in we stopped to get a photo with Sorceror Mickey statue. Though it was really annoying as we were standing behind the photographer as she finished with one family and this woman and her daughter just ran up and jumped in to grab the PP!

9xDxPZU.jpg

Rather than doing a ride at DHS, we decided to instead just take a photo with Starlord and Baby Groot! Hey, that counts as an attraction! Luckily the line was pretty short. Lauren had grabbed my “I’m Mary Poppins Y’all” shirt for the photo, though it didn’t get as good a reaction as I was hoping (I just threw it on over top of my tank top, rather than actually get changed). :confused3

BbphzLT.png

Baby Groot is adorable!

VjJuLaR.jpg

The meet was ok. Nothing crazy. Still don’t like the actors they have portraying Starlord! They need more muscle! Though the guy was nice and would come over and escort guests from the line to his ship… But he didn't even mention my shirt :sad2:

GMIId9x.jpg
PGvEBtL.jpg

Both Lauren and I were hungry but didn’t want to stop for a full meal, so I grabbed a Mickey bar and Lauren got some popcorn. I had to make sure to take some PP with my snack goals shirt though!

kBAKTWh.jpg
uKXYmVg.jpg

On our way out I saw this awesome bubble blower which I wanted to get for my friend’s 5-yr old (Max from the Knotts trip). Lauren made me text his mom, Amanda first, and she said, sure! Lauren then double checked to make sure she knew, it made sounds and lit up, but it was still a yes, though she appreciated us asking first! (I ended up waiting to get it until the next day at DS)

wrWcRoU.jpg

:offtopic:

I finally gave Max and Alice (his sister) their bubble souvenirs, and they were a big hit. I also got one for our other friend's daughter (Maya). Max ended up with a Tie Fighter, Alice got BB-8, and Maya got Glow Mickey. Turns out bubbles were the Christmas present of choice, because Maya's dad got Max and Alice a bubble lawn-mower, which they raced all around our backyard! Max tried to refill it with BB-8, which was hilarious!

Cont... Onto Park #3, Epcot, and finally a dismeet!

I did notice the adorable kids chair and TV though! I think I've seen similar ones at most of the resorts I've visited, and it seems a great distraction for kids!
I took a picture of the girls in those chairs the last day and they looked giant in those chairs. Guess my girls are getting big.

It appeared people who had pushed their trips back by a week had arrived, as well as people who were already scheduled to be there a week after Irma. At least we had already done pretty much everything already.

Boo to that CM.

Fun morning at AK! I'm sorry you encountered the rude CM again, that guy needs to chill! Finding Nemo is such a cute show!

Totally agree with you about Starlord, they need to cast that role a little better (though I guess it's hard to compare to the original ;)). Baby Groot is the cutest!

I loved the food here! It was flavorful without being too adventurous. And plenty of it! Lots of carbs too, which is always a winner in my book! For savories my favorites were the salmon and couscous. Dessert, I loved the zebra cake and orange chocolate chip bread. I think I plan to go back here in December, but get a late morning reservation, so I can try the breakfast foods and then get a plate of lunch foods once they bring those out! I was actually very worried about this when I booked, because I am so picky. But it satisfied even me, and nothing was too spicy (I think you could get spicy sauces or something if that is your taste).

TH is my FAVORITE! So glad you enjoyed it. I love the way you described the food: flavorful w/o being too adventurous. I'm currently dreaming about that salmon.... Can't wait to have some in a few weeks!

Ooooooooo, four parks day! I can't wait to see how this goes!

That really looks like the most uncomfortable hug pic ever. Photopass just trying to do too too much lol

That's so cool that they have those tree weavings to represent both of the Pandora attractions. I didn't even know about that.

RIP Beastly Kingdom @ the replacing the dragon on the bench with a banshee or Na'vi :sad1:

I am LIVING fot that Yondu tee! I'm so sad that Starlord didn't acknowledge it. How could he not? IT'S YONDU.

That's so cute how bubbles were the toy of choice. I definitely think your BB-8 won out though.

Good luck! Where are you trying to rent?

I'm trying to get Animal Kingdom Kidani, but found out today I got it so I'm officially going to Disney World! Yay!
And funnily enough I was there in August 2017 the week before they ended Express Transportation, and it was the best for parkhopping! My bf was really disappointed that they got rid of it as it allowed us to even do 3 parks in a day and see Happily Ever After every night of our trip, it's really tooo bad you couldnt experience it

Yes, those chairs are so cute! I was at the Grand Californian yesterday and they have the best little chair area!

I love when you can find something that is usable outside of Disney!

I'm all caught up! Great TR so far! And I think you're back in WDW now? Can't wait to read more!
Thanks! I got back last weekend, it was such a short trip-too short!

They have a couple guys as Starlord in DCA (for the Guardians dance party) and none of them look right. But I do agree, Chris Pratt-swoon!

Sounds like you're off to a good start! I'm excited to see if you make it to all 4 parks!
It was actually easier than I thought! I guess we weren't expecting to do lots of things at each one though!

TH is my FAVORITE! So glad you enjoyed it. I love the way you described the food: flavorful w/o being too adventurous. I'm currently dreaming about that salmon.... Can't wait to have some in a few weeks!

Yeah, Pandora is so lovely, and seems more authentic to have the weavings rather than big "Flight of passage" signs (they do have the wait time signs, but not a big ride sign). I did read about the original plans for Beastly Kingdom and it just looked so amazing! Like you could do a dark side (with thrill rides) or a light side (with mazes/flowers/etc). And then when it didn't get made, some of the imagineers defected over to Universal and used those same ideas there, including for Harry Potter! Like that Dueling Dragons coaster-supposed to be Beastly Kingdom! [https://www.****************.com/features/20131017/14745/avatar-what-was-beastly-kingdom]

Woohoo! Congrats! Let me know if our schedules coincide and you want to meet up at all!

Day 9, Part 3 - Boats are the best way to travel!

When I left off, we were heading out of Hollywood Studios. We decided to take the boat rather than bus over to Epcot and luckily there was a Friendship Boat at the dock right then. The captain was very good and saw us rushing over, so he waited until we boarded before leaving! Very appreciative on that hot day!

OIFjq6O.jpg

Once on board this happened, which I proceeded to tease Lauren about for the rest of the ride! (Note-we did clean it up before disembarking)

bPdUDQy.jpg
lAEQp5U.jpg

I tried to catch a photo of Lauren being classy and eating out of the popcorn bucket by just tipping it into her mouth (her hands were full), but she caught me and this was her reaction… She ended up always waiting until I was taking a photo out the window before grabbing another bite!

crfsSEY.jpg
BDI4lVR.jpg

It was a very relaxing boat ride. I know people say it takes more time than walking, but both Lauren and I were fans, as it felt like another ride by itself! I can’t wait until December when I stay at Wilderness Lodge and can take the boat to/from MK!

On our ride over, we got some views of Swan & Dolphin (which apparently, Lauren really wants to stay at one day…honestly, I don’t really care for them! Lauren’s excuse: “If it’s good enough for Kristen Bell…”. FYI-Kristen Bell was actually evacuated to the Swolphin during Hurricane Irma; Lauren seriously considered breaking curfew to track her down!)

So, when I originally wrote my notes, I said, while the resorts on Crescent Lake seem nice, it's not so much a priority for me to stay there. Of course, now I'm booked to stay at Boardwalk Villas in December, and I'm totally looking forward to it! I think the proximity to Epcot and DHS will be great! And all the great dining in that area! So, it will be pretty awesome!

Anyways, back to our actual trip report! We arrived at the International Gateway and I was anticipating our arrival...

Lauren’s excuse: “If it’s good enough for Kristen Bell…”. FYI-Kristen Bell was actually evacuated to the Swolphin during Hurricane Irma; Lauren seriously considered breaking curfew to track her down!)
You totally should have! Kristen Bell looked like she was having a grand old time with all of the old people.

Day 9, Part 4 - Dismeet!

We arrived at the International Gateway around 1:30, where I texted with @Raeven to find out where she was, as I knew she and Josh were going to be hitting up Food & Wine that day (remember, we were originally planning on getting dinner at Toothsome, but after Irma changed people's plans, they postponed until the next day, and that didn't work for Lauren and my schedules). Luckily enough, they were in France, super convenient for everyone! We stopped in and got to chat with her and also got to meet up with Michelle (@CatNipRules). Also, took an awkward photo!

Unfortunately the dismeet was rather short, as Michelle, her son and his friend were heading down to lunch at Le Cellier (we really didn’t get a chance to talk to the boys much at all). Lauren and I walked a bit with Raeven and Josh as they were heading over to Belgium, but we were both hungry for more food and Lauren had already tried Belgium, so we said our goodbyes.

ujByEDF.jpg

But, I finally found Remy! It was very exciting and I almost jumped up and down that he was back out!

Rfu8vqu.jpg
4ozrHtM.jpg

(I think this was Morocco and Japan)

Now that excitement was done, we continued onto America. I had wanted to get an Mmmhops to support my favorite boys from Hanson, but it was just too hot and I didn’t feel like beer! Instead I just took photos…

o1so84M.jpg
DmSP209.jpg

Saw another Remy in America

TeUdn8O.jpg

And I saw this at Joffrey’s, which called out to me, so I went ahead and got a Frozen Strawberry-Lemon Sunset [Frozen Strawberry and Lemonade topped with Grey Goose Vodka]

VAWQx51.jpg
psu0VqO.jpg

It was too hot so most of the slush had melted. I thought the lemon was very tart and liked the strawberry one. Lauren gave me the tip to just mix them together, which I liked very much!
I did check out this fire department cabinet, which I thought was cool. :offtopic: (I think I’ve mentioned before but I’m a Fire Protection Engineer, so end up noticing all the fire safety measures. Lauren has gotten so annoyed over the years that she has instituted a 5-fire comments per day rule. After 5 I get punched-hard! After I make a comment she will literally catch my eye, hold up her fingers and then put one down!)

6Q4Dqcm.jpg

Anyways, stopped with a PP to get some shots in Germany

LmxR8UW.jpg

And some magic shots, one for Lauren

q7YqbAO.jpg

And one for me, it was supposed to be Remy, so we were a bit bummed to never get him!

C2WfqFE.jpg

Now, it was really time for some savory food (remember, we didn't have a proper lunch)! I decided to try the pretzel from the German cart, while Lauren went to Africa and got Berbere-style Beef Tenderloin Tips with Onions, Jalapeños, Tomato and Pap.

dPVBISl.jpg
VBHhtZq.jpg

The pretzel was fine, but I had heard such great reviews I was hoping it’d be fresher. Lauren really liked her beef tips though (but she said I wouldn’t have been able to eat because it was too spicy).

Since we were outside Germany I also made a stop at Karamel Kouche. It was difficult to pick one treat, between caramel corn, the caramel bar, s’mores, cupcakes, etc.

6Co6VLb.jpg
Ov2oxQM.jpg

I eventually ended up with the caramel-marshmallow swirl

SfioIws.jpg

OMG-this was amazing! It just tasted so fresh! I think of all the food items I ate during out trip, this was the one I just keep thinking about! I know, I’m weird, that a simple caramel dessert would cause cravings, but whatever! I definitely made a stop at Karamel Kouche in March, though it didn't turn out as good .

Lauren and I also stopped in der Teddybear to get some A/C (and Lauren wanted to get a shirt for her friend). While I was pulling out my AP for the discount, she offered to hold my pretzel/caramel treat, with the original intention to try and steal some bites. Well, she then realized the folly in that plan, as she couldn’t hold it and bite and hold her F&W snack! HA HA HA!

A9gRGiz.jpg

Also, spotted Remy in Germany (didn’t end up seeing him in Italy, because I think it was further back in the showcase), the outpost, China, and Norway

NC5uD33.jpg

Then, time for our FEA FP. It was an 85 minute wait, which we definitely wouldn’t have waited in! Though I love our posed photo!

Also, noticed Kristof on the wall outside the ride!

FKuChee.jpg

We were still a bit hungry, so decided to grab a snack from Kringla Bakeri og Kafe. Considered the School Bread or a Troll Horn, but eventually decided to share the Sweet Pretzel with Chocolate

mGhKxJx.jpg

It was fine. Though I thought the dough was too bland and the white chocolate gave a weird after taste. Probably wouldn’t bother to get again!

Day 9, Part 5 "Hi again!"

We tracked down another Remy in Mexico, and we actually went back toward Canada to get another one

Also, Art of pairing, Flavors from fire, and Next eats

In total, we ended up missing Italy, France, and the UK. Though I had actually redeemed the map for a keychain before even meeting with Raeven! We ended up saving the stickers for my friend's kids, Max and Alice.

xUJKDsu.jpg

And stopped to admire the reverse waterfall. No children in it that day (as this happened the day before (I think)): https://www.inquisitr.com/4502118/y...mps-into-fountain-and-swims-through-it-video/

s60JmyF.jpg

On our way out of Epcot, we came across Pin Trader Stitch, which was pretty cute!

7W9fq1a.jpg

Another, off topic, I started doing the whole Pin Trading/collecting for fun when we got our Disneyland Aps a couple years ago. Before WDW I did one of the ebay pin lots to stock up. But I ended up doing very little pin trading (even though I always had my lanyard in my bag). We just decided we didn’t care to really stop. Lauren was able to complete her collection of Winnie the Pooh silouettes, but besides that, not much else!

Before heading out of the park, we stopped to grab another PP from a girl, who unfortunately didn’t have any magic shots, but did have a fish eye lens (which she called her own magic shot)! And I think the bending into the camera, while it felt weird doing it, came out cool looking!

JIvCyfx.jpg
DLJ4SZz.jpg

But we needed another Magic shot, so stopped at the guy in front who gave us this one

afI4gBj.jpg

Ok, so now we bid Epcot farewell, as we weren’t coming back this trip!

Headed to the monorail to get to MK

kBJXZxR.jpg

As we were let into board, I started heading to a compartment, but I could see all the seats were taken. I was about to turn back and see if Lauren wanted to just wait for the next one, but then I did a double take and realized Josh and Raeven were in that compartment! So instead, I hopped right on and said hi! We were all pretty surprised to see each other again! We ended up chatting the whole way over to the TTC and then over to MK. I didn’t take any photos, but I don’t think Raeven will be too mad I stole this one from her instagram :P!

1ZZcmdw.png

Once we got to MK, Josh had to get her a new wheelchair (if you haven’t read her TR, she busted up her feet pretty badly the night before so it was too painful for her to walk far), so we chatted some more. Then a wheelchair appeared and she was about to sit down before Lauren and I stopped her-it was someone else’s chair! It would have been pretty funny though if she did sit down in it!

Anyways, we walked up main street, and the Halloween pumpkins were finally out again (they had been removed for the hurricane and not up for our MNSSHP)

MbfNTKz.jpg

Josh also demonstrated his loyal boyfriend skills by giving Raeven a lift!

jYJv1bI.jpg

We split up around the entrance to Tomorrowland, so another short dismeet, but it was great getting a chance to chat some more! I think we will also have some fun girl-time in December when we have overlapping trips! :cutie:

It looks delish! It was probably really fresh.

OK, if it is an 85 minute wait, why is that boat not full?!?!

On our way out of Epcot, we came across Pin Trader Stitch, which was pretty cute!

Cute.

I did a double take and realized Josh and Raeven were in that compartment! So instead, I hopped right on and said hi!
What an awesome thing to happen. I love that.

YAY FOR DISMEETS (of course lol)! That's too bad you didn't get to spend too much time with each other, but I mean at least you got to see a few DIS friends for a little while. :thumbsup2

I love the magic shots! The one with your sister and Pascal on her head is PERF. I think normally he's on the shoulder by the way his head is tilted so that's so awesome the PP photographer did that for you. Sad you still didn't get the Remy magic shot. Must've been so annoying. But at least the other Remys were out!

Omg the kid in the Imagination fountain. AN ICON. I didn't even realize you were down there when that happened.

That's awesome you ran into Raeven and Josh again! LOL @ them almost taking someone else's wheelchair. Would've been pretty funny if you didn't tell them about it, but also might've led to an awkward situation so good thing you didn't.
