have you seen at the Universal Parks and City Walk? Want to add some pics and autograph pages to the kids autograph books for this trip.

Thanks,

Lori

America, Hobgoblin, Storm, Betty Boop, Beetle Baily, Popeye, Olive Oil, Boris & Natasha, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Curator for JP, Scooby, Shrek, MIB guys, Ghostbusters, Blues Brothers, Woody Woodpecker, Fievel, Barney, and Curious George to name a few.;)

How about Sponge Bob, rugrats, rockets, etc? I thought I saw a picture of Sponge Bob somewhere but that could be a figment of my imagination. My 3 yo DD loves him. Even has an imaginary pet Gary that she talks to. She's a little strange. LOL!

That was no figment, that was my kids you saw with Mr Squarepants! I posted that with some other pics from the MG-Con meet a couple (gee was it that long?) weeks ago.
The best time to see characters @ Universal is first thing in the morning right on the main intersection after you enter the gates. They also appear throughout the day all over the parks.
Be aware that due to the costumes many characters ONLY do meet & greets and pose for photos (no talk or signatures). Characters usually have "human" escorts and they will let you know. I have seen some chat and sign autographs but many do not, unfortunately that includes Spongebob (his hands don't move at all).
I have also spotted Scooby-doo and Shaggy, Eliza Thornberry & Donny (Donny kept trying to get in the slime time auditions); Chuckie, Tommy, & Angelica Pickles, the MIB dudes, Shrek, Prince Farquar, the now-extinct (sigh) Charlie Chaplin, Woody Woodpecker and his gal-pal, and others, and that's just @ Universal!
Not really "characters" but just as much fun: near the Animal Planet / Barney/ ET area they often bring out animals from the Animal Planet show. We've met Lassie and a wonderful smart little chimp.
IOA has many characters too, notably in the Seuss area, Marvel Superheroes (these are the most predictable, riding out on their vehicles with sirens blaring before stopping for meet & greets almost every hour or so), and in Toon Lagoon (watch out for Boris Badenoff, he carries a loaded watergun and is not afraid to use it!)
In any case, unlike Disney, the characters are plentiful... you do not have to be lucky to spot one on your visit. In fact you will have a hard time NOT spotting a few if you spend the day. Nor do you have to wait in a long queue just to spend 10 seconds posing with a character and then be herded out so the next kids can have their photo op (sorry but that really ticked me off when we visited epcot a few years back).

How about Character meals? I know I have seen something about a Scooby meal. Where is this at?

Thanks for the replies rocketman23 and suzysezso.

Don't forget the Marx Brothers. Although your kids probably wouldn't be interested in them, lol.

They're very funny when you have your picture taken with them. They hang out in Central Park at Universal, usually playing golf!

We saw Barney Rubble and Fred Flinstone, Doc (from Back to the Future), Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Shrek, Scooby Doo --that was all from "not really looking" for them either.

Here's a tip - We were down at Universal in October and my neices are huge Nickelodeon fans so I wanted to take pictures with the characters to bring home to show them. Was desperate to find Spongebob (one of their favorites). Tried for three days but kept missing him! On the last day I went into Guest Services and they pulled out a sheet of paper and were able to give me the times Spongebob would appear! They were so nice about it too - even called somewhere to double check that the times were correct. Those pictures are some of my all time favorites - neices thought we were celebrities and still tell all their friends that we are friends with Spongebob!

I met quite a few characters at Mythos... let's see, there was Barry "I'll be HOM for Christmas", RobertWalker, MiB999999, KellyM, Rocketman, Robvia, H20Jag, MsDiz, MolokaiGram, nhRenee... oh... you mean Universal CHARACTERS...never mind...

hey hardrockgirl, did you happen to see any of the rocket power gang or rugrats? Was spongebob at US or IOA? Do the characters do both parks or certain ones only at either? Thanks. SAM

dylansdad-
read my first post in this thread- you will see where to find spongebob and the rugrats - mostly by nick studios in Universal.
I have never seen one of the rocket power kids but that doesn't mean they won't be around some day soon!
And like Hardrockgirl said, can't hurt to ask @ guest services- they are a bunch of very nice & helpful people there, and I have rarely seen the Universal Guest services crowded. I think using guest services is one of the most overlooked ways of assuring a good time at the parks!

Dylansdad-
No we have not seen the Rocket Power kids either but they are always adding characters. Spongebob and Eliza Thornberry and Donnie from the Wild Thornberrys were new to us this trip down. The Nickelodeon characters are always at Universal. Definitely take advantage of Guest Services - when we asked about Spongebob they pulled out a schedule which had all the characters listed and the times they were scheduled to appear - sure beats just waiting around for them. Like Suzysezso said Guest Services is usually empty and they are all very helpful. I even had to laugh because here we were two adults desperate to find out when Spongebob and the Rugrats would appear but they didn't even blink an eye. They said that all types of people come in to find out what characters are around. That's why I love it down there - you get to be a kid all over again!

Thanks Hardrockgirl. Was gonna stay 1 nite at HRH and go to IOA after my 5 nites at Disney's GF(myself, DW, & DS4yo)now I'm thinking 4/2 so I can have a day at USF too. What do you think? SAM:confused:

My grandsons caught Spongebob in front of the Nick Studios. Being the uncool grandma I am and the one person in the world who doesn't subscribe to cable, I had no idea who he was. I thought he was a piece of cheese!
