What is the difference between the standard Beach Club room, and the "Concierge"? I hear lots of people talk about different services and "free" food and drinks, but how does it all work? Are the rooms different? Is the concierge located in one section of the resort? I am definitely interested in this!!

Hi there...

Generally speaking the rooms are pretty well the same - perhaps with a better view, upgraded ammenities, robes and in prime locations... but unless you are booking a "deluxe" room or a suite of somekind - the regular rooms and concierge rooms are not too different.

Usually your room has turndown service and chocolates are left for you in the evening, also quite often a little gift of somekind is left for you during your stay.

You pay extra for concierge service and for this extra cost you have itinerary planning available to you in advance of your arrival, restaurant reservations etc... it is generally agreed that the tables for concierge guests are in very good locations in the restaurants and generally no wait when you arrive for your PS.

In addition on arrival - at the hotel - usually there is a separate & exclusive area to check in - as opposed to waiting with the masses... same for check out.

Your room is generally (but not always) available when you arrive - instead of having to wait till 3-4pm. Also, often any special room requests will have been met - if possible.

Your room is usually on a secure level - that only fellow concierge guests have access to.

There is a lounge with continental breakfast, beverages & snacks, hot appitizers & other foods and desserts & coridials in the evening... this lounge is only for concierge guests and is a nice area to relax in - other than your room.

Concierge staff will help with any further requests problems you may have - but they are human - so there has been varying reports on quality of service provided and friendliness.

I did a quick search on the internet and came across an interesting article on the history of concierge...

The latin root is "conservus" and translated it means "fellow slave"

Here is the link to the article for anyone interested...
