What resort would you choose if you have a 4 yr old pre-schooler and 2 yr old?

I'm debating here! I can't seem to decide whether to go with the ASMo or CSR. We've been to ASMo and we loved it and had a wonderful time there! I got a great rate for $49 a night at ASMo and $89 a night at CSR. I wouldn't mind staying at ASMo again, but the $89 for CSR sounds great!

Do you think my family will enjoy CSR or should we stick to ASMo? I'm just afraid that my kids will not enjoy CSR resort. Conventions will not bother us.

Go for CSR, a great price for a fantastic resort! We too lucked out on that rate- though were wiling to pay full rack as we love it there. We have gone twice previously with our young daughters. Last time they were 9 months and 3 years, in May they will be 2.5 and 5 and I am sure this will be the best yet. The pool and playground are superb and the buses cannot be beat as they are never crowded. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else.

When are you going? I would be happy to answer any specific questions.

We've been shying away from CSR only because of the write-ups we read on these boards. A lot of people say this resort caters to conventions and that a lot of business people stay here and that it is the least family-friendly resort. It bums me out, because the theme sounds really nice. I just don't want to take the chance on being surrounded by business people on our vacation. On the other hand, I read somewhere that the All Star Resorts were voted the best resorts for kids by some survey.

The conventioner issue is a personal one for some-but don't forget that many other resorts also have conventions (Swan, Dolphin, GF etc). Personally I love them as they rarely ride the buses or swim in the pool-hence minimizing the crowds you see at other resorts. You may run into them in restaurant and main bar, but have never been bothered-after all they are jealous of us having a great time!

As for children's preferences, show me a child who's mouth did not drop open when they first spotted the magnificent pool/dig site at CSR. From what I have heard the value resorts lack the pool theming and water slides present at the moderates.

I say CSR also!! I've never stayed there, but I want to. I think your kids will love the pool, and I think its a nicer place to stay for adults.
The kids will get enough of the characters and such at the parks-vacation should be for Mom and Dad, too! My kids are exactly the same age as yours, and we recently stayed at DXL and they loved it!! So, I think your experience at CSR with your kids would be great as well! Have fun! :)

Thanks guys for your replies! Carrie, how did you like the food court at CSR? How was the selection and the food? What bldg did you stay at? Do you think my 4 yr old son can slide down the slide? What is the depth of the pool where the slide ends? Thanks for the help! :)

our next trip to WDW is in 6/02 because DH has a convention at CSR. DSs, who will be 4.5 and 6.5, and I would never let DH go to WDW without us so we will be at CSR too. The conference that DH is attending is encouraging attendees to bring their families. I suspect that many of the conferences at CSR are attended not just by the grown-up going to the conference, but by the rest of the family too. While DH will be wearing his business casual uniform of khakis and a polo shirt or dress shirt, I can assure DSs and I will be WDW-casual. If you go to CSR, please post a trip report when you return. Have a great trip! Pamela

Fantasia,

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the food court as we never ate there. We prefer sit down and character meals so I am fairly compulsive in mapping out our PSs before we leave. There do seem to be mixed opinions on it though. There is a nice food stand near pool where we refilled our mugs and enjoyed quick take-out type food such as burger, fries, ice cream cone. Also a great bar. My goal is to enjoy a margarita by the pool now that the girls are a bit older and not on my lap the entire time.

As for buildings we have stayed in Casitas and Cabanas. Cabanas are best if you wish be be closest to dig site, as well as accessible to main buildings. We were in 8B, which was close to bus stop as well. This trip we would like to try for 9B, as appears a bit more convenient.

Our oldest daughter was only 3 last time so did not use the slide. She is now 5 and a strong swimmer so eager to try it out. Not sure of exact depth, but not too high and one parent can be ready for a catch if needed. The playground is great and both your children would enjoy it. Nice that it is right next to pool so you can keep an eye on them. My daughter loved the sand box and CMs kept kids happy by refilling with sand toys. The kids loved lugging water from pool to sandbox for building castles. The kiddie pool would also be great for your little one.

I would be happy to answer any more questions!

Carrie

Thanks padams and Carrie! Thanks for offering to answer my questions. :) What did you think about the room? Was it spanking clean? How was the housekeeping? Thanks in advance! Sorry, too many questions. It's nice to be convinced sometimes. ;)

No problem! The rooms were in perfect condition and sparkling clean. On our first visit in '98 the resort was still new and had not ironed out all the wrinkles. When we returned in '99 what a turnaround! We were greated warmly, including stickers for children, the moment our towncar pulled up. (In contrast this did not occur at DL or even the Yacht Club). Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I really cannot recall any specifics about housekeeping-so I will assume that is because there were no problems.

Having not been to ASMo I cannot compare, but would highly recommend CSR. It is so lovely with outstanding theming and great views, especially at night.

Hi We have stayed at both hotels and had a great time at both!!!!! The only thing was the food courts. The AS are much more kid friendly and seem to move smoother than the one at the CRS. Both have refillable mugs and great pools, but the one at CRS does have a slide, and also cast members that run activities during the day for the kiddos at the pool. At AS, are your childs entertainment. Either choice will be great though!! How did you get such a great rate??? Please tell me??? Wendy
