K, I think I finally got almost everything in...
Sorry I took up 2 posts! LOL
Ok totally not clothing but I made some progress this weekend. I wanted to make a baby quilt for a couple at our church having their first. They are really young and have only been married for a year or so so they're still just starting out. I think they're 22 or so...anyway, I got to start it Friday, got it finished yesterday:
I'm gonna have to make some of those skirts for my DD. She hates wearing pants. Maybe once I clear out a couple of projects in my sewing room my DH won't cringe if he sees me start something new.
Beautiful Pooh quilt! Pooh was my favorite as a child!
I can't agree more about CarlaC's patterns. I use them all the time!
I don't think I have picked up a commercial pattern in a couple of years now, except for the Farbenmix ones.
Speaking of Carla's patterns. I just finished this Simply Sweet dress for our trip. Four down, a couple of more to go!
I also used the quilting block tutorial on YCMT's blog to add the hem detail.
No model today, she is too busy playing with her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse stuff to give me any free time!
:applause: Wow! This is gorgeous!
My daughter is the biggest Marie (from Aristocats) fan. I thought it would be great to make her something for our trip in October. I was thinking pink and black, just seemed like the colors would fit the whole Aristocat/Paris theme. I stumbled upon this fabric on
and I LOVE IT!!!! Question is has anyone seen this anywhere where it's not $20/yard
. That's a little...ok a lot ...more than I wanted to spend.
Thanks!
LOVE that fabric! I looked on
for it and didn't see it. I think my ebay searching skills are not that great.
I hope you can get it!
Sadly, I have paid more than that for fabric. I do some heirloom sewing, and some of those fabrics get super expensive. I want to get some dotted swiss fabric for easter. I think it is 60 a yard.
I have to go over my pattern layouts and measurements several times before I can convince myself to cut!!!
Jeanne- As long as you send her back safely I have a Stepsister for you.
My DD4 picked Anastasia and DD2 is Drizella.
Here is the Evil Queen and DD2 is Ursula.
Here is Piglet and DD2 is Pooh. The pics are a little dark but you can see the pink piglet.
This is for Chef Mickey's. The babes dress has a red halter with a black Mickey yo yo.
This is the Cruella dress to match my DD2 little 101 puppy set. I am not sold on this one but DD4 loves it so that is what matters.
I still have a lot more to share- Brier Rose, Working Girl Cindy, Incredibles, Donald and Daisy, Pocahontas, Pop Century and a Minnie pettiskirt set.
These are all so beautiful! You do amazing work! Oddly enough 101 dalmations one is my favorite!
Where do you get your pettis from? I need to get one for my DD. I was going to make one, but I figured out it would cost me jsut as much as to buy.
This is probably going to sound like a really dumb question, but I have to ask anyway.
So, with CarlaC's patterns there is a 1/4 seam instead of 5/8. Where is that marking on the machine??
I see 3/8. 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4. Anyone want to help the brainless??
Usually it is even with one of your presser foots, but it depends how big your presser foot is. If you just take a measuring tape and put it even with your needle you can measure 1/4. You could also get a seam gauge and do the same thing. Seam allowances are very important from what I have learned. Sometimes the difference between 2 sizes is just a 1/2 an inch.
I have to go back to page 42 to catch up. You folks have been busy chatting today!!!
But wanted to type first. I just dont have anyone else I am ready to share this with you all of you are so supportive. Im not sure which way is up. Today has been a bit of a rough day.
The adoption event had it's cons, but thats minor. When I got home DH told me my Mom called and I should call her back. My Mom is a jabber-mouth- for her to call and just ask to be called back is unheard of, so I looked and DH and said 'Tell me whats going on" he said "just call her" me- "Not until you tell me at least something" Long story short I called.
My Dad, as some of you may recall has been fighting prostate cancer for the past 7 years. He has been complaining of back pain for the last 2 months, felt it was the cause of a skiing accident early this season. He was told last week he had a compression fracture- well I guess the fracture- they are calling them "breaks" now and there are at least 4. In the process of getting info on this they realized this is being caused by one of 3 things. They are most leaning towards his cancer matastisizing and a tumor has put pressure on his spine and caused the fractures. The alternative is lymphoma or lukemia. So he should hopefully know tomorrow if he is looking at surgery and radiation (in addition to the hormone treatments he hates) or treating the lukemia/lymphoma by some other means- Im not sure.
He's in a lot of pain right now and my Mom says he's not talking much. The meds he's on make him spacey, or the pain keeps him from talking.
I know the hormone treatments have left him incontinent and give him severe shakes, and fatigue and such.
I know we are sewing board. Im just so upset right now and knew you all would understand.
Just wanted to let you know that I did say a prayer for you and your family. I just didn't get around to posting until now.
Here is my contribution to the Simply Sweet Marathon Sunday!
I think I'm gonna start another - maybe for Easter. I'm going tomorrow to get Wall-E fabric for my big give outfit, so I'm hoping to get that done.
Really pretty! I STILL don't know what I am doing for a Valentine's dress!
I still have to make a t-shirt to match the skirt. Of course she wants a dress like the others with tinkerbell but I ran out of fabric and couldn't find any more of the purple. I have a couple more things to make for her and then a bunch of mickey head shirts and possibly some shorts for the boys.
Really cute dresses! I used that Tink fabric a few years ago for one of my first projects.
So I just caught up on everyone's posts, phew! Wow, everything is so beautiful. So I ordered my ruffler yesterday and then spent a ton more on fabrics I couldn't resist. I swear its an addiction.
DD2 loves the Little Mermaid so I started cutting out a dress from some LM fabric I bought awhile ago using an Indygo Junction pattern. As I was cutting I started to feel pretty sick and before I knew it was running a fever and feeling fluish. I have been in bed for last 32 hours. Getting sick is one thing but I'm due with our 4th baby on Wednesday. I cannot imagine going into labor with the flu. Now, DS and DH are starting to cough and feel lousy. Perfect timing!
Thanks for everyone's continued inspirations, Jen
Glad to hear you are feeling better! *baby dust* for you!!! Hope the fam feels better before you deliver!

Can you tell what this is supposed to be? This is my big Walt fan
I bought Jayden this hoodie and she loved it so much I made her a shirt to match. It involved cramming a hoodie into my scanner/copier...
I know I have said it before, but... You always make such great stuff!!! I love the applique of Walt and Mickey. I'd love to have the pic too, but I'd digitize it instead of freehand.
If anyone ever needs any help with digitizing I can help a little
