I just got through all 66 pages! I am not even going back to the old thread. We had a nasty nasty computer virus. We went out our computer for 38 days. I have been really busy sewing for out upcoming trip. My older DD did an impromptu photo shoot. She is missing all of her bows, cute shoes and bling but her is a sneak peak of some outfits. Jennwdw is making some really cute new bows for us. I cannot wait to get them. Bowmail is always the best.

Jeanne- As long as you send her back safely I have a Stepsister for you. :)

My DD4 picked Anastasia and DD2 is Drizella.

This is for Chef Mickey's. The babes dress has a red halter with a black Mickey yo yo.

Picture272.jpg

This is the Cruella dress to match my DD2 little 101 puppy set. I am not sold on this one but DD4 loves it so that is what matters.

Picture278.jpg

I still have a lot more to share- Brier Rose, Working Girl Cindy, Incredibles, Donald and Daisy, Pocahontas, Pop Century and a Minnie pettiskirt set.

Would you mind posting a link to your directions?
Here are her Directions:

I made these yesterday using her instructions! I have never thought myself a bow maker, so I am pretty pleased with the end result!
this is the first, and it is HUGE! A little too big actually. I think I will give this one away.
clothingcreation028.jpg

clothingcreation027.jpg

RAOK!
The first person who can PM with the names of 2 of my kids can have this bow for free!! It is about 5" across.
Here are the smaller ones I made to go with the first outfits I made for our next trip (pics of those to come later!)
clothingcreation030.jpg

clothingcreation029.jpg

Anyway, moral of the story is, that they were excellent instructions, and if I can do it anyone can. :rotfl:

Here in North Carolina we don't get much snow, but this morning we woke up to about an inch of it. And yes...they closed all the schools, daycares, churches and lots of businesses!

th_DSCF0722.jpg

th_DSCF0721.jpg

And yes...I still have some decorations up around my door. I was going to get it down today...but it is a little cold out.
We have about 18" here, and nothing was canceled. :lmao:

In case anyone was interested, here is a better pic from the Sew Beautiful magazine and its available as a kit-

I just LOVE this!

Hey all! I haven't had a chance to do much but skim this week, but I'm loving all this cute stuff!!!

Shannon got me pondering sashes last week, so I've been experimenting:

In the back, it is a big full BOW!
th_springsash1.jpg

To make the bow, the sash has to have some shape to it. I was thinking of making a little freebie pattern out of it, but wanted to get feedback here first. Is the belt part wide enough? Is the bow too big? Should I do a few different sized bows? The belt part is based on waist measurement, so it should fit all sizes.

Thanks, all :goodvibes !
FAB!! I like the idea of having different size bows and sash fronts. Of course it is more work for you, but that's why we all love your patterns! Because of the versatility!

Whew, anyone ever just have one of those times when you just cant seem to sew???:rotfl2: I was really stinkin tonight! Im making a round neck top for Hannah, and I sewed the collar on backwards - TWICE!!!! so at that point I called it a night!!!

Here is the simply sweet I made Baby Emily - :rotfl2: it is by far not perfect, not sure what happened where, but do you think its good enough to give to her? I've never sewed for her before,,,,,,,

Looks great to me!

Needed a place to shout, no one gets it here. For the first time ever:

I MADE TWO BUTTON HOLES!!!!!!!! YAY ME!!!

Thanks for the tutorials!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I just finished these pj's....I only bought one yard of each, so the tops are completely made up out of my imagination, using what was left!

The girls are thrilled, and can't wait to wear them at Disney in April!

My crazy 10 year old....this is a cheetah girls fabric, you can't really see the emblem...

th_100_0274.jpg

My six year old...she decided to keep a sweater on underneath, since it's -15 here today!:lmao:

cute! Looks like your girls love them!

It is just too funny that you posted today. Just today I was wondering what had happened to you. I love all of your DD's outfits especially the Anastasia dress. They are just too cute. Do we get to see the littlest one in her outfits? Sorry to hear about the virus. I have downloaded both a virus and a Trojan Horse to my DH's computer and he was so mad at me.:faint: Luckily he was able to get it fixed.

Awwwwww Thanks for thinking of me and thanks for the compliments. I am hoping the girls will let me take pictures tomorrow. I tried on the Incredibles dresses on the girls tonight and it was all I could do to get them out of the dresses. Who says a super cannot wear a dress . . . rest assured there were NO CAPES! LOL

Everything looks lovely. I think I love Piglet the best. Waiting patiently to see the Pooh set. I like the Dalmations twirl dress. Why are you not sure?

This is probably going to sound like a really dumb question, but I have to ask anyway.

So, with CarlaC's patterns there is a 1/4 seam instead of 5/8. Where is that marking on the machine?? :confused3

I see 3/8. 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4. Anyone want to help the brainless??

Oh...this is sooo off topic....but does anybody else have the Scene it! Disney game? If you don't....get it! Katie got it for Christmas and we finally played it last night...it was so much fun!

We got it for Christmas, but havent opened it yet. I am hoping to dive in this weekend! Can't wait!

Great Job!

You know what I have never paid any attention to my seam allowance and it always turns out great. I usually just line my presser foot up to the edge of the fabric and that becomes my seam allowance. :rotfl:

I usually use my presser foot as my guide too. Some times I measure from my needle to here I want my seam to be and then I just use a fine point permanant marker and draw a line on my machine. A tip that was just share with me from one of the ladies at the Babylock store: She takes a stack of post it notes and sticks it at the measurment she wants. Then she just runs her fabric against the stack using it as a guide. The sticky won't hurt your machine and when it won't stick anymore then you just peel of the bottom one and use a new one.:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! I will use those tips.

I finished the top of CarlaC's stripwork jumper tonight. Its not perfect, but overall I am very happy with how it is going so far. It is the the first time I have ever worked with a lining or buttons and button holes. So, I am a happy camper. I can't wait to finish and post!!

Well today was a busy day. We started the day off at the eye Dr for the 4yr old and 2yr old. The 4yr old has been complaining about headaches for a few months. We discovered that she will be getting glasses. She is so EXCITED to get them, but it changes her looks big time. I'll post pics when she gets the glasses. The 2yr old, well I warned the Dr about her. I don't know how he even got to look at her eyes, She was kicking and bowing her back. IT was crazy. He said she was fine and to come back in 2 yrs. On a side note, he dialated her eyes. He said it could make them sleepy. Well, she took a nap at 10:00 :cool1: Bad for my mom who had to keep her this afternoon while I was at a funeral. My mom was hoping to get some sewing done, but Miss Araeyah had other plans. Speaking of sewing, I will post pics as soon as I can get my kiddos to model. We did find out that the bowling shirt fits Attikus!:cool1: I'm so excited, and he looks soooooooooooooo CUTE!

That is about it for now. I love all the new customs posted. The bow is awesome, I'm going to have to get some wide ribbon and try the bow!

Also, my 4yr old got moved up in gymnastics to the "BIG GIRLS" class! I didn't know they were going to test her, she did great!:thumbsup2

These are absolutely adorable!!!! Can I ask what patterns you used for your outfits?? I can't wait to see what else you have!!! Your color choices are beautiful and Cruella dress is so cute!! You are going to get stopped everywhere!

K, I think I finally got almost everything in...
Sorry I took up 2 posts! LOL

Ok totally not clothing but I made some progress this weekend. I wanted to make a baby quilt for a couple at our church having their first. They are really young and have only been married for a year or so so they're still just starting out. I think they're 22 or so...anyway, I got to start it Friday, got it finished yesterday:
th_poohquilt1.jpg

I'm gonna have to make some of those skirts for my DD. She hates wearing pants. Maybe once I clear out a couple of projects in my sewing room my DH won't cringe if he sees me start something new.
Beautiful Pooh quilt! Pooh was my favorite as a child!

I can't agree more about CarlaC's patterns. I use them all the time!
I don't think I have picked up a commercial pattern in a couple of years now, except for the Farbenmix ones.
Speaking of Carla's patterns. I just finished this Simply Sweet dress for our trip. Four down, a couple of more to go!
I also used the quilting block tutorial on YCMT's blog to add the hem detail.

No model today, she is too busy playing with her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse stuff to give me any free time!:rotfl:
:applause: Wow! This is gorgeous!

My daughter is the biggest Marie (from Aristocats) fan. I thought it would be great to make her something for our trip in October. I was thinking pink and black, just seemed like the colors would fit the whole Aristocat/Paris theme. I stumbled upon this fabric on :wizard:

th_621f_35.jpg

and I LOVE IT!!!! Question is has anyone seen this anywhere where it's not $20/yard :scared: . That's a little...ok a lot ...more than I wanted to spend.

Thanks!
LOVE that fabric! I looked on :wizard: for it and didn't see it. I think my ebay searching skills are not that great.
I hope you can get it!
Sadly, I have paid more than that for fabric. I do some heirloom sewing, and some of those fabrics get super expensive. I want to get some dotted swiss fabric for easter. I think it is 60 a yard. :scared:
I have to go over my pattern layouts and measurements several times before I can convince myself to cut!!! :lmao:

These are all so beautiful! You do amazing work! Oddly enough 101 dalmations one is my favorite!
Where do you get your pettis from? I need to get one for my DD. I was going to make one, but I figured out it would cost me jsut as much as to buy.

This is probably going to sound like a really dumb question, but I have to ask anyway.

I see 3/8. 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4. Anyone want to help the brainless??
Usually it is even with one of your presser foots, but it depends how big your presser foot is. If you just take a measuring tape and put it even with your needle you can measure 1/4. You could also get a seam gauge and do the same thing. Seam allowances are very important from what I have learned. Sometimes the difference between 2 sizes is just a 1/2 an inch.

I have to go back to page 42 to catch up. You folks have been busy chatting today!!!
But wanted to type first. I just dont have anyone else I am ready to share this with you all of you are so supportive. Im not sure which way is up. Today has been a bit of a rough day.
The adoption event had it's cons, but thats minor. When I got home DH told me my Mom called and I should call her back. My Mom is a jabber-mouth- for her to call and just ask to be called back is unheard of, so I looked and DH and said 'Tell me whats going on" he said "just call her" me- "Not until you tell me at least something" Long story short I called.
My Dad, as some of you may recall has been fighting prostate cancer for the past 7 years. He has been complaining of back pain for the last 2 months, felt it was the cause of a skiing accident early this season. He was told last week he had a compression fracture- well I guess the fracture- they are calling them "breaks" now and there are at least 4. In the process of getting info on this they realized this is being caused by one of 3 things. They are most leaning towards his cancer matastisizing and a tumor has put pressure on his spine and caused the fractures. The alternative is lymphoma or lukemia. So he should hopefully know tomorrow if he is looking at surgery and radiation (in addition to the hormone treatments he hates) or treating the lukemia/lymphoma by some other means- Im not sure.
He's in a lot of pain right now and my Mom says he's not talking much. The meds he's on make him spacey, or the pain keeps him from talking.
I know the hormone treatments have left him incontinent and give him severe shakes, and fatigue and such.

I know we are sewing board. Im just so upset right now and knew you all would understand.
Just wanted to let you know that I did say a prayer for you and your family. I just didn't get around to posting until now.

Here is my contribution to the Simply Sweet Marathon Sunday!
th_2009-01-1817-31-34_0005.jpg

I think I'm gonna start another - maybe for Easter. I'm going tomorrow to get Wall-E fabric for my big give outfit, so I'm hoping to get that done.
Really pretty! I STILL don't know what I am doing for a Valentine's dress!

th_IMG_0176.jpg

I still have to make a t-shirt to match the skirt. Of course she wants a dress like the others with tinkerbell but I ran out of fabric and couldn't find any more of the purple. I have a couple more things to make for her and then a bunch of mickey head shirts and possibly some shorts for the boys.
Really cute dresses! I used that Tink fabric a few years ago for one of my first projects.

So I just caught up on everyone's posts, phew! Wow, everything is so beautiful. So I ordered my ruffler yesterday and then spent a ton more on fabrics I couldn't resist. I swear its an addiction.

DD2 loves the Little Mermaid so I started cutting out a dress from some LM fabric I bought awhile ago using an Indygo Junction pattern. As I was cutting I started to feel pretty sick and before I knew it was running a fever and feeling fluish. I have been in bed for last 32 hours. Getting sick is one thing but I'm due with our 4th baby on Wednesday. I cannot imagine going into labor with the flu. Now, DS and DH are starting to cough and feel lousy. Perfect timing!

Thanks for everyone's continued inspirations, Jen
Glad to hear you are feeling better! *baby dust* for you!!! Hope the fam feels better before you deliver!

Hi Everyone,

So happy Attikus is feeling better!! YAY!!!! THat was a rough time!!!

Piper - soooooo cute ! love it, and Im sure he will too!!!

Jayden looks GREAT in her outfit - its really tweenish looking - very cool!

Well, I got a lot done today, but I couldnt finish the simply sweet dress - i Kept messing up - so that is my signal to stop for the night!! Ahhhh that seam ripper and I were great friends today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are 2 outfits I made for Elizabeth....

Really cute stuff. I love that horsie fabric!

Okay, now these I really DID work on, slave over even...

Can you tell what this is supposed to be? This is my big Walt fan

th_DSCN3564-1.jpg

I bought Jayden this hoodie and she loved it so much I made her a shirt to match. It involved cramming a hoodie into my scanner/copier...

th_DSCN3567-1.jpg
I know I have said it before, but... You always make such great stuff!!! I love the applique of Walt and Mickey. I'd love to have the pic too, but I'd digitize it instead of freehand.
If anyone ever needs any help with digitizing I can help a little :)

I made this today! It's for my DD to wear on Chinese New Year. It's not quite complete. The pattern calls for a ribbon tie closure. I'm not sure that I like the idea of that. I'm afraid that it'll fall off if it comes untied. I'm thinking of adding a button closure that is covered with a big sash bow. OR a frog type closure. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.

th_IMG_4234-1.jpg
Beautiful! I love the style of dress. I've always loved that fabric!

Oh my goodness! That outfit is stunning!

What pattern is this? Not that I can tackle anything else, but I just love the wrap style. Maybe when Megan is bigger. I also really love this fabric!!

have you seen this?
9741b9956226d06e757fb9bc6a9f6062.jpg
I have that magazine. I've been waiting until I think DD is old enough for this one.

I found this material at a small local fabric shop and fell in love with it.
th_Jan_misc013.jpg
I am going to make an outfit for Megan for Texas Independance Day. I can't wait.

More pictures in a few minutes.
Ooooh! Love that fabric! Someone needs to make a dress out of this and take a pic in a field of bluebonnets!!! ;)

I am a little nervous to post my latest with all of the greatness that has been posted on this thread already. You guys are really outdoing yourselves. I cannot wait to see some of these in person.

Here is what I worked on this weekend. the model was less than cooperative (and I found that stupid string hanging down after I took pictures). The pants look wonky in the first picture, but they aren't- the model was ummm asking when I would get the candy I promised. . .

My DD is in love with Strawberry Shortcake right now. I am currently working on deciding what to make her with Strawberry on it!

Sorry, I missed this earlier. I HAVE seen that Martha Pullen - I would LOVE to own it! I've never tried to smock - it's very intimidating to me. SO, I decided to use it as inspiration...
Smocking is my addiction currently. You are in a good area to find some help if you'd really want to learn. ;) My MIL used to teach smocking classes in Tyler.

Tom- Thank you, I am going to check my stash and see if I have that one! I have like 3 dresses hanging in her closet that need underdresses for this time of year! But I will have to figure out how to make it smaller, since even the 2s are big on her- but maaaaaybe if its under another dress it wont be so bad? hard to tell with that neck.

I am doing the Feliz- well, I finished the ties.
I want to add ribbon across the chest. Can anyone tell me.....
My ribbon is slightly see through and my fabric has a pattern to it, is there anything I can put behind it to keep the pattern from showing thru the ribbon?
Just wondering, but why are you putting the ties on the outside of the dress? The pattern wants you to put them on the inside. You sew in the ribbon when you are sewing the font to the sides. I've heard people say they didn't understand why the casing and ribbon was needed, but Feliz would swim on my DD if I hadn't put the casing with ties on the dresses I made. Not sure if you were just trying to put your own twist on the pattern?

In case anyone was interested, here is a better pic from the Sew Beautiful magazine and its available as a kit-

issue112-mandarin.jpg

http://www.sewbeautifulmag.com/kits/113kits.html#Anchor_kit1

Revob, I dont own any ribbon wide enough to put behind it and Im afraid it will add the stiffness I wanted to avoid. Maybe I will have to skip it......
Thanks to you I am almost sure that this will be one of my next smocking projects!!! :rotfl2: I kinda forgot about it until you. ;)

Hey all! I haven't had a chance to do much but skim this week, but I'm loving all this cute stuff!!!

I love the big bow. I am just wondering if it is hard to tie? I am horrible at tying bows even though I have seen several tutorials on how to do so. Maybe you can teach me better!!

Needed a place to shout, no one gets it here. For the first time ever:

I MADE TWO BUTTON HOLES!!!!!!!! YAY ME!!!

Thanks for the tutorials!!!
CONGRATS!!! :cool1:

I know I have said it before, but... You always make such great stuff!!! I love the applique of Walt and Mickey. I'd love to have the pic too, but I'd digitize it instead of freehand.
If anyone ever needs any help with digitizing I can help a little :)

If you do digitize it, would you be willing to share :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:
