Gotcha! I think maybe A.A. Comeaux Park is the name of the playground. Sellers Field is the name of the main park in the "complex"

My nursing instructor was Amy Sellers. Does that ring a bell?

Yes it does, she is an amazing woman and her family are awesome folk as well. They took in 5 teenage boys for a week, bless them....:worship:

Do you know of a seafood restaurant named Richard's....I swear they had the hugest boiled crabs we have ever seen in our lives. We often talk about going back there, hope they weren't affected by the hurricanes.

Hey Disney Princess! - just wondered....I went at age 5,10,15,16,17, and then in college went with a boyfriend around your age....then more trips later....

I'm 43 now....I just wondered if you were planning a trip with friends or were going with the family.

I'm hoping to bring my family as they turn your age. My Kids are 17, 16, and 15. I'm hoping they are LIKE YOU and will still want to go and hang out with us.

Do you guys hang out with the parents when you go? or do you do the walkie talkie thing?

Just wanted to say hi from Cut Off, LA....

Really? We are interested in staying there because we heard the bussing system is better. We had way too many stops at POR.

Also wanted to respond to lsutiggergirl that POFQ and POR share the same bus. POFQ is usually first in the stop order, so there is some advantage to staying there over POR. The only time we stayed at POR, we had the last stop...so, the bus was always "standing room only" or full when it finally reached us. :confused3

We are planning on trying POFQ at some point...but, we want to try CSR first. CBR is our favorite so far... :cool1:

Speed :teleport:

Signing in from Cut Off.

We are going back to Disney Oct. 9th through Oct. 18th of this year. Taking advantage of the Armed Forces Salute Tickets (Husband is in the National Guard). With that and the great rates they are offering military families on the resort rooms, we could not pass this up. This is our fifth trip in six years, and it is costing us about half of what it usually costs!!!:thumbsup2

Of the moderates we've stayed at, CBR is our favorite. We just love feeling like we're in the Caribbean. Maybe being from NOLA just made POFQ "boring" to us. The bus service and the boat ride to DTD were the only advantages.

Hello Louisiana!

Do you usually Drive or Fly? We almost always drive. DH from LA.... I'm from FL...so we used to stop somewhere along the way to visit my Family in FL, to cut up the trip. Stops have included Destin, Marianna, and Gainesville area. What do you do?
Hugs,
Mary

Hey Tink, this will be our third trip in July and we'll be driving again. We drove for our Christmas trip and flew for our Disneymoon.

For our Christmas trip, we left at 6 p.m. and drove all night while our oldest DS slept comfortably in his chair. We were supposed to rotate drivers between my brother, my wife and myself, but I'm weird and I drove pretty much 10 of the 12 hours. Wasn't too bad, except that by our third day, I hit a wall and had to take a day off from going to the parks so I could rest.

This trip, we'll have an additional youngster, so we're going to split it up over two days. Gonna leave a day before we check in at WDW and probably stay the night in Gainesville. Then we'll wake up early and drive the rest of the way to Orlando and hope to be there in time to get to AK for park opening.

We looked at flying, but with my job situation (company making us take mandatory furloughs every quarter), it's just too expensive.

Hi Bunch!

On our '07 trip DH, DD(then 3), and I drove. Stayed the night in Gainsville and it was perfect. Had time to stop at a nearby walmart to buy a new video camera when ours suddenly crapped out:sad2:

Got to CBR at about 12p and went from there.

We are driving in May. We are either going to leave when DS16 gets out of school on the 21st and stop over night when we feel we had enough. Or leaving around 10:00pm and driving straight through. Only problem with latter is that Disney doesn't have check in until the afternoon. We still have a decision to make on the matter. We have always driven straight through in the past and just left around 3 or 4 am. But, we have DS2 this go round and DH's hip isn't what it use to be.

You know you don't have to wait to check in to a Disney Resort, right? One year we dropped our bags, stopped at the front desk, and didn't get our room assignments until after we came back from Animal Kingdom. Our bags were in our room and ready to go!

We drive every year. We live in West Monroe and our drive is anywhere from 13 1/2 to 16 hours. I have all our bags (with the exception of our toiletry bag) packed the night before and we load them into the car the night before too. I also have the backseat ready for our 11 year old son......a small throw and a pillow, backseat organizer, etc. When I get home from work at around 5:30 p.m., all we have to do is throw in our son's backpack (full of games, etc.), the small softsided cooler, our snack bag and the bag with the camera in it. By 6:00 p.m., we are on the road.

Since we haven't had dinner yet, we always stop in Vicksburg for a burger to go. After that, we only stop for gas or potty breaks until midnight. We check into a hotel that's close by and are up and on the road again by 9:00 a.m. This part of the drive is a bit more relaxed and we take the time to walk around the rest stops and usually eat inside a fast food place for lunch. By mid-afternoon, we are pulling into our Disney resort!

Now, on the drive home, we drive straight through until we pull into our driveway. :scared1: We are soooo tired but know we have one day to sleep in before heading back to work!

Yes, I realize this. The thought is this; if we leave around 10 pm and drive straight through. We will need a room for DH & I to catch up on a few ZZZZ's, at least I know he will be like a child and need it. If we leave around 2, 3, or 4 am we will arrive in time for a room to open up. Or, if we leave around 1 pm the afternoon before get a cheap room offsite just to freshen up and rest for a couple of hours.

The best part of this all we will probably make this decision the Mon or Tue before.
DH won't get excited until then! :(

Also from Louisiana, Baton Rouge area, here and we drive in every time, we leave about 3 am and drive till the kids wake up for breakfast, do another lunch stop and stretch and make it just in time to check in and relax at the pool before heading to the parks the next day ( after a much needed rest, lol). nice to see some fellow La dis fans!!
