ADR System Upgrade - History

Are there any recent updates or rumors about when they are going to have the online ADR system up? I'm starting to think it was all make believe. ;)

Hope springs eternal...

At least the Disney website still has a couple of places where it seems like online booking should be available: on a Dining page reached by going to In Depth Planning Tools, there's the section that says "book now or phone..." -- the "book now" part is highlighted like it's a link to an opportunity to book online but when you click on Book Now, it takes you to a FAQ page - which is at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/dining/
Scroll down a bit and you get this:

Are reservations available at Walt Disney World Resort restaurants?

Yes, reservations are available-and highly recommended-at many Walt Disney World Resort restaurants. You may make reservations online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call. It is recommended that you arrive at restaurants 5 minutes prior to your seating time. You will be seated at the next available table that can accommodate your party.

The part of the sentence that says "You may make reservations online" is also highlighted as a link, but when you click on it, you just loop back to the top of the FAQ page.

So, could be they're still working on it, and just have some of the links in place for when they "flip a switch"...or maybe they need to go remove those references:headache:

well fingers crossed for the online booking before the 12th June! it would be really handy and avoid making an international call!

Ugh! Today's the day I can make my ADRs. I had my dates and the restaurants I wanted all neatly written in my notebook. I called on my way to work and a castmember answered in less than a minute. Unfortunately, when she got into her system, it was down. I have to call back in "approximately two hours".

Can you share the link to where it shows the online booking, I know it isn't active yet but I want to bookmark the page. I couldn't find it by searching.

Thanks

I am on the phone with Disney Dining right now. My hold time was 9 min. 39 sec. I have booked five of my nine ADRs. They have still having computer difficulties and I am now on hold. I've been on the phone a total of 46. min. 17 sec. and I still have more ADRs. to make.:headache:

Just got off the phone. After being on hold, I was given confirmation numbers for three more of my ADRs and then the castmember made my last ADR. Total call time? 52 min. 19 sec.:eek::eek: I have NEVER stayed on a phone call with Disney dining that long.

The castmember was very apologetic and tried to keep me happy. I was very pleasant to her. It wasn't her fault that the computers were giving her problems. She said that the new dining computer system was supposed to take place on May 25, 2009. When I asked it that would include the program where guests could make online reservations, she said she didn't know but they have been told it's coming soon. (Can you tell we had plenty of time to make small talk?)

There are four of us on the dining plan. On the night of our 25th wedding anniversary, our son and daughter will be eating at Planet Hollywood and my husband and I will be eating at the Grand Floridian Cafe. The system would not allow her to book both. We had to choose just one even though the reservations were just for 2 people. She told me to call back on Tuesday (the 90 day mark for the Planet Hollywood reservation) and make an ADR for Planet Hollywood but tell them it's not on the dining plan. But, when our daughter and son get to Planet Hollywood, tell them they are using the dining plan. That's the only way the system will allow them to book the second booking for that day. She said that was the system's way of not allowing "overbooking".

I did take the survey at the end of the call and, out of the half dozen or so questions they asked, I had to, honestly, give the experience at 5 which is the worst on the list. I gave the castmember a 1 (excellent) because she was really nice and apologized numerous times for the delay.

I am soooo glad my boss was out of town today or I would have NEVER gotten my ADRs booked!

Sorry for the rant but disers are the only ones who truly understand.

WOW, that is good to know because I will be making my ADRs soon. What is the web address to make them at?

Where did you get your information? Just wondering if it's reliable since that hasn't been reported in the Dining sticky where that info was being updated.

More info please!!! Where did you hear this, and what will the procedure be?

I am wondering as well if you will have better odds of getting what you want using the online system or calling. Will they block off so many tables for callers right off the bat?

Wow, that's a great thing to know. Although, WDW website is so slow anyway when May 11 comes around will it really be that easy to just go online to make your ADR's? If I were making mine that day I think I would also be on the phone as well...just in case.

I just checked the MYDisneyVacation.com website, there is an online reservation system for golf tee-times. I don't know if this is a precursor for on-line dining or jow long it's been operational, but its a step in the right direction.:thumbsup2

Well, the other question will be be: Will the web site be functioning? It seems I have so much trouble all the time with their website simply pulling up my reservation and such.
