I had a similar experience as I kid. We lived in Boulder, Colorado (about as liberal as it comes--at least back then it was, it is much more conservative now--but still pretty darn liberal )from the time I was old enough to be in school. When I was 12 I went back to spend the summer with my grandparents in the little East Texas town my parents grew up in. OMG
I had KNOWN their was a lot more prejudice there than what I was used to but I was still stunend at just how much totally open racism/homophobia existed
"Besides always having them try to poison me with sweet tea,....."
Um hello.......Nectar of the gods!
So, DH agrees with you--Nectar of the gods (well, that and Amerreto, and some wines, and . . .). Funny he is born and raised in Colorado and did not know about sweet Tea until I took him to Texas.
I take my unsweetend with lemon and tons of ice. If it was brewed more than about 6 hours ago it is too old
I am very picky about my drinks. Here is a typical restruraunt conversation for me:
Waiter: Something to drink?
Me: Do you have Coke or Pepsi?
Waiter: Pepsi
Me: Okay, is your iced tea fresh brewed or from a fountain?
Waiter: Foutain.
Me: OKay thanks. I'll have ice water please.
Drive's DH nuts
