Hey Vera Bradley Hipster fans - to mini or not?

Love your pics :)

This afternoon I took DD to VB (actually, DH and DS1 and DS2 came also).

DD ended up getting the mailbag (I had been prepared to get her the minihipster!) and I got a minihipster to go with my pleated tote :)

I think these will work nicely for our upcoming trip (in 11 days :cool1:)

My DD is 5 and I'm wondering if she is old enough to carry her own autograph book and pen and flashlite n things in a mini hipster..... anyone have any thoughts??
I'd keep track of it when we were stopped or she took it off, but I figure if we're walking around and stuff its one less thing I have to carry right??
Thanks!!

While an avid Vera fan for years, I went out on a limb this year and got a Baggallini Messenger. I have been carrying a Vera Hipster daily, but this worked out SO MUCH BETTER for the parks. I got mine for like $27, with free shipping from EBags. It is a cross body with tons of zippers/pouches and 2 side areas great for a cell phone and a water bottle. It has a AWESOME little zippered area on the strap that falls on your chest--- PERFECT for your tickets, Fast Passes, and even my BlackBerry! It was great, it comes in TONS of colors. There is a thread on the Budget ??? on this forum where others have ordered them, and for the codes. You have to sign up for their newletter for an additional 15% too... can't remember the code, but it's out there!

The drawback I can think of with the Mini Hipster in regards to DD5 is that the strap is like 60" and it's not adjustable -- it's just a "string" or skinny strap. You'll have to knot it to shorten it up for her (or for you). So I don't know how that would work with a little girl, if there would be a way that the extra strap wouldn't get in the way or get hung on stuff since there will be so much of it.

I recommend getting to a store if possible so she can check out the bag in person.

thank you so much for the pics! I had looked at a mini before leaving for our July trip that just passed, and wasn't sure...walked away from it.

just booked a November trip, and with your pics, and the rave reviews decided to grab a mini for this upcoming trip...got a cute one off of eBay - i like slim/small bags for the park

:rolleyes1

I may have bought a Baggallini Baby Bon Voyage on ebags too, but who's counting - I guess one can go in my new Owner's Locker so it will always be there...the question is which one!

I'm planning on getting a hipster bag for my upcoming trip and I'm hoping one of you guys can answer this question...

Obviously I'm going to be carrying the bag with me in all of the parks, I don't plan on using a locker or anything, but I know some of the rides do not have places to put bags. Take Rockin' Roller Coaster for instance, I believe there is no place to put your belongings on the ride itself...would my hipster be okay with just the strap holding it across my body? What about some of the other thrill rides?

I always make sure my bag is closed and try to keep it between me and the side of the car/ride, or have the bar over the bag.

Just got back from my first trip and used the hipster. It rode all of the rides with me(including RnR) with no problems!!!! And I loved it!!!!!

I really loved the mini hipster during my past trip! I'll most likely use it again next year! Granted DB & I didn't have much to carry, it still fit the my park essentials: sunscreen, hand sanitizer, lipgloss, sunglasses, park tickets, money, camera. It was also lightweight, & it rode on the rides with me! That is always a plus! :thumbsup2 I'll most likely use it next year, or maybe opt for a bigger VB bag. But, nonetheless, I loved it!

Thanks for the feedback! :goodvibes

Looking at that pic of the mini though, it looks much bigger than I imagined it to be. I'm second-guessing that maybe the mini would work better than the hipster for me? Can anybody (who has used both the hipster and the mini) help me out?

Some background on me: I'm 20, no kids, will be going with a friend of mine---plan to carry: ticket, some money, sunscreen, maybe a little makeup, camera, possibly phone---would all of this fit? To mini or not?:goodvibes

Could somebody maybe post pics of the hipster and the mini on just so I can see how big they are actually on? :) I would appreciate it!

I think the mini would work fine for you as long as your sunscreen is more of a travel size and you have a compact camera. I used my mini last trip and I had similar items in it...it worked perfectly for me! Some people have mentioned that if it's too packed, the thin strap seems to cut into your shoulder, but I didn't find that to be true. As long as I could easily zip it, it was fine. I have both the mini and the regular...both are awesome for the parks!

I brought two regular size hipsters and a mini - and never took the mini out of the suitcase. In my hipster I had:

Front flap pocket: bandaids, blister block, moleskin, Monistat chafe gel

Main zip area: sunglasses, Purell, female supplies (ugh), 2 zip cases with money and cards, a travel size sunscreen, a travel deodorant, and a small bottle of Aleve. I even rolled up my poncho and had plenty of room for it in the main pocket.

Back zip pocket: iPhone

The strap did aggravate my neck the first day, but then was fine. Not too heavy at all - and I wore my poncho over it with no problems. It stayed cross-body on all the rides and most of the restaurants, I basically forgot about it.

The mini was too small for me, but that's just me. I hate how it looks when I stuff it too full and it bulges out from the velcro.

Some pics! Sorry they're so big...

I got a hipster to try for our trip in October. I always wear a lanyard with pins for trading. I was thinking the other day that the strap might cause me to lose some of my pins. I noticed you had a lanyard on in one of your pics but didn't see any pins. Any ideas about that - do you think the strap will be a problem with pins on a lanyard?

LisaZee, you look so cute in your pics! And you are killing me; I got my Carnaby Hipster a few weeks ago, but after seeing the 'variety' in your pics, I want to go pick up another in a new pattern before we leave on Sunday! :rotfl:

Vera Bradley has some great markdowns right now! I picked up the Libby for $29. The strap on the Libby can be adjusted so that you can wear it across your body. It isn't quite as long as the hipsters but it sits below my hip (and I am 5'7"). I liked the Libby because the strap also adjusts to a shorter length which is what I usually carry. This will be something I can get use out of besides just at Disney.

I would say the size is in between the hipster and mini hipster. I will be able to fit quite a bit in it. It also has two front pockets that snap.

My favorite part was that I could get the clearance price on the new patterns because the style is being discontinued.
