The Official December 2009 Car Rental Thread

If you go to this site
wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-transportation.htm and scroll down a bit there is a budget car ad on the right. Click on the ad and it gives you a discount code (enters it for you, the code is Y917800).

With your dates I get (with taxes and fees included renting at MCO)
$381.61 for intermediate
$414.35 for a full size

It also has a spot to enter a coupon so if you can find one that would work as well you might be able to save a litte more.

Booked at $381!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! I LOVE YOU AND I HAVE NEVER MET YOU!!! I thought I might have to NOT go, as I was NOT spending $1000+ on a car. I hope Santa is good to you as you've been a very good boy or girl to help us out:banana:!!!

I must be missing something. When I click on the link I get code Y937800 and it comes out to close to $1000.

When I enter the code Y917800 I get this message:
The offer code you've entered may only be used for an Insurance Replacement rental. Either restart your reservation using our Car in the Shop online reservation system or continue your reservation without the code by clicking on the 'continue' button below.

I got that message when I tried to plug in a coupon. If I left coupon blank I got the $381. Try with no coupon. I used the direct link, too.

Me too, I just stopped by to repost. I'm at $166 total now for a full size (ExAisle) rental. 8 days (Dec. 4 to Dec. 12). Used the 5007160 code and the $35 coupon (ND1276FDT) -- still no go for the $40 coupon.

Looks like we'll be there the same time. Not sure why your rate is lower than mine. Are you 1 week only? Using the same codes?

i didn't use continental code...perhaps the day earlier or time of day pickup may be the issue? we're always the 1st plane in (12/5) & last plane out (12/12);) so it works out to 8 full days for us.

Yea, it must be the times, ;), We are Dec. 4 @ 11:30AM and dropping off on Dec. 12 @ 10:00 AM.

I love to log on and see the rates have dropped! And still we have 3 weeks and 3 days left! but who's counting?

Thanks!!

When I enter the code Y917800 I get this message:

So sorry, if you didn't click on the ad and used the code I posted...I posted the code wrong. It's Y937800.

Used THAT code, plus changed to the Budget location on Westland Street (a $25 cab ride) and the total charge after fees and tex is $266 for a full size car.... 12/28-1/05.:banana::banana::banana:

$214 TOTAL ECONOMY!!

There was something wrong with my cookies so I couldn't get those great rates. I cleared my cookies and I was able to bring them all up. There are Budget coupons out there that you can add to your rental to bring it down a bit. Rental Car Momma has one here: http://www.rentalcarmomma.com/budget.htm

Thanks for this thread guys! My oldest son and I are joining my in-laws for a portion of their Nov/Dec vacation. We're landing late on 12/2 and don't want to have to deal with Magical Express. Anyway, I was able to get a Magicard (based on info from this thread!) and get a great deal at Thrifty. One question - some websites say that Thrifty has a counter onsite and that the cars are onsite, but wdwinfo.com says that they are offsite. Anyone use them before and know??

It just makes a difference to me since we'll be arriving late on 12/2 and hope to get into the car fairly quickly.

Thanks!!

I am THRILLED rates are starting to come down. When I started my search we were right around $300.
Just wanted to share that I found my lowest rate yet today through Alamo.
I went through Costco travel and also used the coupon code AD2123JMC.
For our dates Dec 1 - 12 I found an economy for $187.13. :yay: And I just got an e-mail from a travel blog that rates are going to continue to drop! Hurray for us!

I can't seem to have any addittional coupons work with my ressie with that other BCD code already in there..

as i recall, budget coupons don't reflect in price quote when booking online.

if valid (and from what i understand, they don't mix & match coupons & codes ala alamo/national:confused3perhaps somebody with more experience can help out here) the coupon amount will be adjusted when you pick up the car.

this is the one time i'd suggest you do call;) to see if the coupon you have in hand is applicable to your ressie.

My National rental car rate dropped another couple of dollars today. Not alot, but I always like the direction it's going.

I would check the airport's web site to see which facilities are onsite, or call Thrifty.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this question. We are renting a mini van for our next trip. I am bring a car seat that must have the upper tether used. Do all mini vans have those?

All recent model vehicles (including minivans) are equipped with LATCH (lower anchors and top tether hooks). The LATCH locations will vary from vehicle to vehicle, but I believe that there needs to be at least two in every vehicle. Rental vans will definitely be new enough to be LATCH equipped.

I just checked my rate Dates again and got a great deal from Alamo.

Pickup December 12 TPA
Drop off December 23 MCO

Used ID# 430710 and Coupon Code AD2123JMC From Mouse Savers site

$151.00 for Compact Car.

Thrifty is Offsite you have to use a shuttle to get to them. We just returned from MCO. I know this first hand.
Only Alamo/ National/ Dollar/ Budget and a couple others are onsite for pick up at airport.
I used thrifty in the past and have never been thrilled with them. It just matters if the cost is low enough to be worth using them.

Keep checking Alamo last minute deals each week on their website. Use walmart codes and costco codes along with coupon codes to get the best prices.
Southwest has some good car deals too, remember to add coupon and corporate codes in the boxes at the bottom when price checking with them.
Check out the deals page on SW too and copy the codes to add when price comparing.
