Just popping in to say hello - I`ve been away, taking my elderly Dad to visit relatives. I`m not even going to try to catch up.
Everything is very very stressful here. DD gets her uni results next week and needs at least a 2:2 to continue with her career choice.
Our local school and DD`s old school had a terrible tradegy last week - a bus crash killing two and badly injuring nine others. Today not far from here there have been random shootings - twelve killed and 25 injured. Even though we have not been directly affected (not that we know of) everything is too close to home.
DD and I are going on the Baltic cruise next week - thankfully for us, that is easy to do. Anyway we can`t book for Palo`s when we should for the WBTA as we will be on the cruise! I won`t be lining up to use the internet that`s for sure.
Well done to all for making this thread so friendly and welcoming - it is appreciated :goodvibes.

Oh my God! I'm so sorry you are so close to it all! Glad that you weren't directly effected though!

I had no idea you coupld plan where to eat at the airport. We get in very early in the morning so I assume nothing is open. Drats. I would have loved to have fish and chips

I love that most airports list the shops and restaurants on their websites!! We always try and look for something we can't get around here.

Sorry I don't know Terminal 5, but hopefully we will see you there!!! I can ask over on a UK board I am on if you like and will probably get some answers.

Sounds great! Thanks! Also, I got our Taxi quote back and will PM you in a few!

Ill worn you know if Terminal 5 is anything like the other terminals the food is not up to much at all! I haven't eaten in either but I'd just say from experience of London airport food it isn't a good representation of British food in the slightest!

Yeah, I figured as much after reading some of the reviews but it would still be nice to pick the best one we can! I'm expecting typical airport food so hopefully we won't be too dissppointed.

Hi, i have send them a e-mail: and this is what i got back.
Vertrek: Barcelona Airport, El Aeroport del Prat, Spanje
Aankomst: U232 Hotel, 08036, Barcelona, Spanje
Soort rit: Enkel - Single rite
Soort vervoer: Privé taxi - private taxi
Aantal reizigers: 2 personen. Whit two suitcases and two carryones.
Prijs: EUR 38

Hope this is the info you want, if you want to more let me now.

Thank you! Great information :goodvibes

I understand the general idea of the fish extenders and I see that we are breaking down the groups into 15 - 20 staterooms. I'm trying to decide if I have time to get it all together to participate. Is a gift being given per stateroom? or per person within the stateroom? Can the gifts be delivered at anytime prior to the last day during the cruise? :confused3

Just a quick question - has anyone been to Tortola? If so, has anyoe done this excursion:

Tortola by Land and Sea (CRUISE & SIGHTSEE)
(TT-03)

The Virgin Islands are made up of over 60 isles and cays. Cruise past the islands by motor launch and tour the length of Tortola by tour bus, while also enjoying some shopping time at a picturesque marina.

Board open-air tour buses or A/C Coach for a short transfer to the marina where your launch awaits to take you on a scenic cruise among the beautiful islands of this unique archipelago. View the southern shoreline of Tortola and the surrounding islands of Salt, Peter and Norman, made famous in legend as hideaways for pirates and buccaneers. Your journey takes you past uninhabited islands and the island of St. John, preserved for posterity by Laurence Rockefeller as a nature reserve, before arriving at Sopher's Hole, the first landing place by European settlers in these islands.

Enjoy a stroll along the board-walk and enjoy some time to browse in the colorful boutiques and souvenir shops before boarding open-air safari buses to continue your journey on land. Drive along the north shore of Tortola through small fishing villages before ascending to the ridge road, which twists its way along the top of the island offering spectacular views of Tortola and the surrounding islands. Snap a photo during a scenic stop before descending to Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands, and onto the cruise ship pier to conclude your tour.

Duration: 4-4.5 hours

I'm a bit concerned as DH gets everything sick and can't decide between this one or another one. Geez, I'm telling you, this girls' only excursion is sounding better and better.....anyone else game?

RE: Washers and Dryers

Not to be a downer but I have personally witnessed some awful screaming and fighting matches especially around the last couple of days. It is not unheard of to find washing machines and dryers filled with clothes that have been there for a long time. One time I came across a situation where security had already been called in. Yup - fights do happen so please, please, although this is a Disney ship, please set a reminder notice if you do go away. I have done both. I usually set my stopwatch to about 5-10 minutes before the ending time and go and babysit there. I have actually walked in when someone was emptying my dryer and the clothes weren't even 1/2 dry. :scared1: The party in question said that the dryer had already stopped but I showed her my stopwatch where it showed I had 4 minutes left. I was nice about it. And I've also done the opposite, if the clothes are dry and no one is around, I do fold the clothes since I am taking their clothes out. Not sure how they may feel about it - one time the lady was so happy - turns out she had a toddler that was acting up and needed to put her down so in that particular case it worked out. ONLY on Disney do I tend to look at the bright side of things......might be the ::MickeyMo spirit invading the ship though. Anyone else? I'm not trying to upset anyone but things have happened so just be careful. Especially on these long cruises, I have actually been there when another DIS'ser lost it and struck someone. Sad case but take us out of our comfort zone and we can react differently than the norm. So just be aware. We are on vacation......QUOTE]

I appreciate your input, I am one of those people that set the watch. I do not like to be inconsiderate. I also do wash when other people don't - such as port days. Yes, I will enjoy the ship and not leave and do wash. The wash was sooo bad in '07 that if it is like that again, I will pay to have a few things washed if I need to. I am also going to do wash in Gibralter. I am hoping there are not dirty people before then - but me!!!

Feebs - so sorry to hear that the terrible shooting and accident was so close to home. Sending you lots of hugs:grouphug: Hang in there and do not stress to much. Enjoy the Baltic!

FE gifts, as I understand it, are what you want to do - per cabin or per person or per family. The gifts can be delivered whenever it is convenient for you. Join us!

Tortola wont be the same when we leave!!! :rotfl:

Everything crossed for your dd....I understand the stress, that'll be us next year (all being well with dd) :thumbsup2

would be lovely if you could join us.......gifts can be either per stateroom or per person, and given any time on the cruise I believe

I just finalized my Fish Extender gifts. I will give two goodie bags per cabin in my group (one early on in the cruise and one on Pirate Night, but that is entirely my choice). Both goodie bags will be a mix of stuff that I made and things I bought. I have found in the past that the most time consuming part was labeling the gift so that people know who it is from. This time I am lazy. I had cards printed with my real name, DISBoards name and my email address which I will add to the gift. That way people know who it is from and if they want to keep in touch after the cruise, they have my email address as well.

If it were here in the USA, they would have non stop coverage for days trying to figure our the motive. Is that not true in the UK?:confused3
I cant mind ever having something like this tbh
I am watching the TV about the shooting spree and unfortunately I thought it was the US also. You are right Noel, they would show it allllllll day. Hope all of our dis family are safe.

I am laughing though about all the undie talk earlier. You girls made my morning. I have never been scanned or stopped so I guess I should continue buying from the same store.

Okay, silly question because I read someone's post about going to Deck 9 and partying while doing laundry. We never stay in the laundry room while we do wash - do you guys? Somebody made it sound like that was wrong but I just thought it would be a waste of time. I doubt your stuff would get stolen, the only thing I wash are undies and that would just be wrong! Do you guys actually sit and wait - please tell me the protocol.
I make sure i am back before it finishes.
I go and leave my laundry, but will be back before it finishes. I would hate to be in a cabin accross or next door in case there is much loud chat and noise.

On our PC cruise someone in the next cabin told me someone had trainers drying one night. Bang, bang, bang...........!!!!!:sad2:
I promise you, if they kept me a awake they would be outathere, I mean, who would do that?

Have a great cruise. Its just horrible, I had to turn the tv off.

Yeah :scratchin somehow, I get the feeling people say that alot about me when I'm gone. :headache:

I am shocked:scared1:
Think I might wash my stuff in the hand basin!

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to make sure that the groups are set. Please take a look at the group you are in and make sure your info is correct. I know many people don't have cabin numbers, but thats ok. I think that we may have lost people, as they are not responging to PM's. Please PM me with a OK if all is good!!

ALSO - VERY IMPORTANT - IF YOU ARE NOT LISTED IN ONE OF THESE GROUPS - PM ME ASAP SO I CAN CONFIRM THAT YOU ARE IN THE COCONUT GROUP!

Thanks all!
Sue

I thought you were moving one of us?

I see another group coming! :thumbsup2

And another list :lmao:

A quick translation for some of those here in the USA. Trainers are tennis shoes or sneakers.

I thought some people actually brought their personal trainers on the cruise. When they got fed up with the trainer telling them to workout more, the trainer got stuffed into the dryer for a cycle or two. :rotfl:

Jon

If those of you in the pineapple group would PM me with your contact info it would be great. One of my FE gifts will have this info on it so you can share them with people you would like to keep in contact with after the cruise. I will not share the information with anyone and will probably disribute our gifts on the first sea day. If you do not wish to share the information, I understand.

Donna

Feel free to PM me with any questions you have about Toronto, and sightseeing etc.

Howdy all!

Back home from helping out with the parents for the past month.

I have a couple of weeks here then we fly up to see my DD and SIL (he wouldn't want to be called darling!) in Canada for a week. Booked it long ago when things were not chaotic.

Then home for 2 days and then back to the folks for the rest of the summer until we get them moved out of the house, fix up the house, have a giant garage sale, and get their house sold. We have to get it done before my sis has to go back to teaching in August. We will probably have to call in the whole clan, it is a huge project.

I was hoping to get some more research for the cruise done before I booked excursions this weekend, but I think we will eeny-meeny-miney-mo!

My research this week has turned into getting a rental car in Toronto and figuring out if we need to book any touristy thing in advance there. We are looking forward to seeing DD's first house!:goodvibes

I will try to get on the boards from time to time. Sadly, it will not be as much as I had hoped.

I missed twenty pages in the middle of the thread. I hope it wasn't anything good! :goodvibes

Laura.....I have sent Tracy a message asking her about what she reccommends to do in Tortola...I believe she went there last year with Disney. As soon as I hear from her I will let you know. I will book the excursions as planned this weekend and then we can adjust later if needed.....Dont want poor Steve sick the whole trip!

Cool - went ahead and booked that last one also just in case but I can cancel. BTW, the first 2 excursions I booked came back as confirmed and when I booked the Tortola it went in as unconfirmed. Boy the website sure has changed. I went on DCL the last time when excursions where on their own page. Now, they are under the planning center. Guess I've been away far too long. :rolleyes1

This is hysterical - that is what I would do with my trainer if I brought him/her on the cruise!

Also, I am doing the same thing as Donna - all the people in the Pomegrante (cannot even spell the word) PM with your family's last name. I will need them for my personalization if you do not mind. If I do not hear from you, I will leave it generic!:woohoo:

First of all- my thoughts are with anyone affected by today's tragedy.

We have been to Tortola only once. We did the excursion to Virgin Gorda. ( fat virgin) and the baths were incredible. But it was in the 1990's so I just remember it being beautiful but not much else. That there is/was a spice shop (Island Spice Co., maybe) on Tortola that I would like to go back to. I can't remember what we are doing for WBTA. I'll have to look it up. st

Since our stateroom is down the hall from the laundry on 6, let me know if you plan on fighting over the machines, so that I can sell tickets (haha)

15 weeks from right now, we are on a plane to Barcelona!! Time is moving almost too quickly for me.

Have a great night everyone :)

That does it!1 I'm going to have to see about coming in earlier than I expected. Much to much to see and people to meet up with. BTW, just to let you know, I did not find ANY Ranch dressing anywhere in Barcelona EXCEPT for the Hard Rock Cafe so if anyone needs a fix before we get on the ship, bring your own or eat at the Hard Rock which is at the top of Las Ramblas and about 1 minute from El Cortes Ingles.

I'm full of useless facts like that.

BTW, how many of you know that there is no bacteria in urine? :confused3

See what I mean....useless facts. :rolleyes1

To late;)
Jon

Whoops, sorry!

Eyepatches????? :rotfl:

Glad you can't see me, the mental pictures would just be UGLY!!! :rotfl:

:lmao:just wondered if you wanted to pat me down sometime:lmao:
You are too funny!

Well I can join the club too - mine was not at the airport though - but I could never get through the Disney one without it going off and everytime they finally threw up their hands because that is the only place it would go off when they did the hand wand - on this cruise I will not wear this bra when going off the ship.
Krisann

You girls must have some heavy duty underwire, I suppose my itty bitty's don't need so much? Now I've said that I'm gonna beep this time, huh?:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Hope none of our UK DIS family have friends or relatives near where this happened. Our prayers go out to the families.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100602...lYwN5bl90b3Bfc3RvcmllcwRzbGsDdWt0YXhpZHJpdmVy

Oh, WOW, we haven't seen any coverage here yet, I'm sure we will. Things just take a little longer to get all the way down under.
That is just Tragic, My heart and prayers go out to all affected.

If it were here in the USA, they would have non stop coverage for days trying to figure our the motive. Is that not true in the UK?:confused3

Oh, we were in the USA when there was that little 2 or 3 year girl missing, Caylee? It was the ONLY thing on for the entire 3.5 weeks we were there!
I had to Google it when I got home to get updates.

I think you are referring to Jon's comment, which is how I took it at first. I think he meant we probably shouldn't take all our clothes off and go to deck 9 naked. Correct me if I'm wrong Jon. :goodvibes

I just booked our transfers from the airport to hotel with Barcelona Taxi Van.....they quoted me at 55 Euros for 2 adults and 2 - 4 suitcases. A little more than what you were quoted but that is ok.

That's the same quote I got, I requested quotes form 3 different companies and this was the only one who replied. Needless to say, we'll go with them, at lease they manage to respond to e-mails, they must be semi-reliable?:confused3

Just popping in to say hello - I`ve been away, taking my elderly Dad to visit relatives. I`m not even going to try to catch up.

SCARY CANARY!!!! I am not about to fight with a complete stranger about a washing machine, Seriously, aren't people starving and dying? What a waste of energy! :sad2::sad2::sad2:

Thanks for your help!

Sure, you've got time. Some people are doing a gift per stateroom OR a gift per person OR splitting them up over a few days. No rules! Gifts can be delivered anytime. I have read on other threads that some people buy their gifts from one of the ports. So no organisation needed. Join the fun and PM Su_Kraft.
