**2010** Epcot Food & Wine Festival ENDED 11/14. 2011 FESTIVAL 9/30-11/13

Could someone direct me to where I might find the daily schedule? AllEars has until the 10th, it's now the 12th, and I'll be there from the 18th to the 29th! Would love to see a schedule to see if I can fit any more activities into the vacation. :goodvibes

Nevermind I found it, disappointed I'm going to miss that. Wish I had heard about this sooner, that's what i get for not paying attention to the boards!

Yeah, thank goodness I got the Tables in Wonderland email about the pre-sale cause I didn't find this board until today, so I would have been out of luck like I was last year, lol. I know I would have either forgotten or thought I had more time and they would have sold out.

They only put those pamphlets out a week at a time (I asked at the welcome center when I was there on Saturday). So the AllEars folks may have not picked the latest one up yet.

This one link will give you the general schedule :

and the one below gives you the specific food and wine seminar info:

Hope that helps :)

So what is included in the gift bag? Does everyone get one or just those in the WVL?

There is a separate bag for WVL. I thought this year's WVL bag swag was better than last year's. It included small nip size bottles of Grand Marnier and a bottle opener as well as what was mentioned earlier. We had a wonderful time at the 10/9 PFTS:goodvibes

Hi - Just back from Food and Wine....more posts later but first...

BANNER BAGS - they still have some left and restocked them Monday. I saw Germany, England, USA, Italy and some generic.

They were there when I arrived on Friday.....and the selection dwindled and then restocked. I only saw these at the Festival Center, not at the other locations when merchandise were sold.

Passports - plenty of passports were left. They had them at the Festival Center and at some of the Kiosks as well as DVC. But you had to ask for them.

I did see some kids with them stamped, and a few adults were having them stamped in line - did not seem to slow down the line, even with the folks jumping back in because they forgot to get them stamped. I think most adults were using the passport but not having it stamped.

We had an extra from DVC and gave it to folks we met while sharing a table. They were newbies to Food and Wine and were most grateful.

The lines, were longer than long on Saturday.

More later...

Sounds like they learned from last year and are keeping extra stock in the back instead to just putting them all out.

Just a vent and maybe a heads up for anyone wanting to do a wine seminar.

When the wine tastings were free we did maybe 2 or 3 during the entire festival. Carefully chose those we thought we might enjoy and possibly discover a new taste. Never complained about the pour amount since it was free.

We didn't attend any paid wine seminars last year.

Always the optimist, I prepaid for one this year. Didn't attend it. What a joke. We do like the Winery and that is why I prepaid for 2 tickets. What they served was their absolute bottom line. We won't be prepaying for anymore wine seminars until Disney lets us know what is being poured and gives us value for a quality wine. What we spent for 2 tickets we could have purchased a bottle of the same grocery store wine instead of getting a 1 oz pour. :confused3

That is disappointing. I figure they wouldn't do their high end but at least above the bottom line.

Now mind you, this is a very subjective series of reports on the food and wine tastes we were able to enjoy. Once again there was more food and wine (and beer) than there was time.

My best Food of Show was the

SHRIMP CAKE WITH SINGAPORE NOODLE SALAD at Singapore.

Why? For one thing, there was a spiciness to the shrimp cake. We have found over the years that much of the spice is tamed to the American pallette. This was no where near native level I am sure, but you could tell it was meant to be spicey - and the shrimp were nice size (medium), cooked to perfection and hot. Hard to accomplish. It was served on a sugar cane stick - remember when there was an African chicken served the same way?
But this dish was not sweet. The salad was delicious -- rice noodles with slivered vegetables.

It received 5 stars from me and best of show....

Sorry folks, I was eating too much to take pictures.

Oh...it was a sugar cane stick! Do you eat it?

I agree, I liked the Shrimp Cake & Noodles from Singapore. I don't even like spicy foods and I still liked it!

May I ask, how would you describe the texture of the shrimp cake?

You can chew on sugar cane --- in fact they grow it in Florida and when I was a child we used to cut down canes and chew out the sugar - yummy. These sticks were a bit "harder" than they would be for good chewing, but you can knaw it. Think if a stick of celery that is very fibourous, you don't eat it as much as chew the juice out.

May I ask, how would you describe the texture of the shrimp cake?

This is harder...I think I need another trip to makes ure.:rotfl2: OK, it was similar to the texture of shrimp - so it was not a total puree and pounded texture.

Yes, the cute cuckoo clock with the two hearts. and the tower of london. they did not have Germany when I first arrived (Friday)...I looked through all of them. Friday, they only had Italy and generic and the lobster from USA. There were no others put put over the weekend, but they were replaced on Monday. you could ask if they will restock and if so, if they would let you do an even exchange, with tags left on etc. Just a thought. I did this once with a shirt I wanted and did not find the exact size until a later booth.

Speaking of F/W merchandise I thought the pins were extra special cute this year.

I asked about the texture of the shrimp cake at the Singapore booth because I tried it last night. The shrimp cake on the skewer was gelatinous and one of the worst things I've tasted this year. Not spicy at all. The noodles served with it were just noodles, no vegetables mixture. Obviously there is batch-to-batch variation in the booth items. It sounded like you it a good day and I didn't!

Anyone have pictures of this years banner bags?

I'm not holding my breath but would be an AMAZING birthday gift to myself if they still have some when I go... on November 12. It's a VERY very very long shot but a girl can hope can't she?

As of 15 minutes ago there are about 16 to 20 banner bags left. They are small for the price. I would love one for grocery shopping but can't quite justify it.
