Starting in January, DCL will be adding their new OBDC (on board demerit credit) to cruise accounts.

DCL has finally realized that people feel some entitlement to disregard some rules, and the rules of choice are different for each of us. So, we'll be given a demerit "credit" to be used on our cruise.

The basic credit is 5**. That means you have 5 demerits to spend as you wish. For example, saving a seat in the theater costs you one demerit, wearing shorts to dinner costs 2 demerits, allowing children with swim diapers in the pool is 2 demerits, and so forth. The Personal Navigator will have a specific list; any ship's officer can assess demerits.

Are you paticularly bad and run out of demerits? No problem, more can be purchased at Guest Services. No more worrying about breaking the rules, we're all imperfect and this will make life onboard a little more enjoyable!

**Concierge guests and Platinum Castaway Club members will be given 10 credits initially. Also, if you transfer your reservation to an independent TA they can offer you an increased OBDC along with a higher OBC.

If you get five demerits do you have to walk the plank :rotfl:

"Jeremy's" post was humorous, and funfilled with the regulars pet hates.

This second thread is just trolling and now trying to stir up angst as "jeremy" hasn't decided to revisit his OP and comment.

Mod's, please have a look at this. mmouse37, missing your input but hope your having a good break and relaxing!

Oh my goodness, not a troll at alll!!! Posted for a bit of humor...please take it that way!

I forgot one---a demerit if you meet the Captain walking around and ask him who's driving the ship :)

A troll with over 500 posts ya I don't think so! Don't worry over50visits we get your humour

I don't know whether to  or :sad2:

Either way, it's pretty funny, but also "wrong timing" given the upsurge of "these types of threads" all at once. Now if you'd posted this a month from now, I bet you'd have gotten more people on your side. ;)

But definitely keep up your sense of humor! :)

Is this just for new bookings?
I assume that it is for cruises that embark after January 1?

Are the credits and demerits per stateroom, or per guest?
Shouldn't the demerits be based on the length of the cruise?
If you cruise multiple times, can you transfer unused demerits toward a future cruise?
If you book a future cruise onboard, do you get extra demerits?

Are you paticularly bad and run out of demerits? No problem, more can be purchased at Guest Services. No more worrying about breaking the rules, we're all imperfect and this will make life onboard a little more enjoyable!

Can you prepurchase demerits?
Is there a way to include demerits in a gift basket for a friend or family?
I heard that WDW is implementing a similar demerit credit system. Are the demerits on land transferrable to sea, and vice versa?

I also heard rumor that DCL was considering a Rules Exemption at Sea (REAS) package that included:
1) 2 deck chair reservation certificates (each good for 8 hours),
2) A row of seats in the theatre for one night,
3) A "get out of tipping" free card, and
4) 5 extra demerit credits

What if your party is split between concierge and non-concierge rooms?
Or at different levels in the Castaway Club?

What kinda of demeriting do I get if I ask if my 34 year old son can go into the lab with his brother, since they get along so well and I dont want to separate them.

I think I will start with twenty demerit points. I plan on seeing why it is so important to ignore Disney rules. I won't have the kids with me but I am sure with more research on the boards I will be able to come up with a list worthy enough. If you see me on board don't bother saying anything because I will have my reasons for doing exactly what I want. Hey I paid for my trip I should be able to vacation anyway I want. :snooty::snooty::snooty:
