Spring Advantage 2012

My phone interview is Monday at 11:45! I'm so excited and thinking about it feels so surreal.... Disney is my dream and I've wanted this for eight years.❤ I put down that I had high interest in retail, attractions, characters, and character attending... I have experience in being a character and retail so I think I will probably land something there. :cloud9:

So I've been reading through this thread and also I read the blog someone posted and created a study guide sort of thing for the phone interview of the various questions. It's long but I wanted to post it here since this is where I got most of the information from.

I had my interview today and Im so worried. I smiled and laughed a lot and tried to be personable but my interviewer didnt speak other than the questions! I hesitated a bit on why I wanted to be in the program but eventually got out that disney would be my foundation and give me the confidence and boldness I need to go into the working world and change lives. That was the only one I was worried about. At the end I was frustrated that the interviewer wasnt saying much so I asked him why he loved disney and what he loves about working there. he lit up when I asked! haha. Im so so so scared through. I think my answers were good but they were hidden by nerves. Dear God I hope I get this. My life is based around this. This is my dream. Im stressing so much! any tips on how to relax and be confident about how i did? I am picking it apart til its dead. Im sooooooo scared and excited all at the same time!

sorry its so long

hmm.... This stumps me. What is a good way to respond to this?

Just think of the positive aspects of the interview! I think it was a good idea to engage him back and just reading your post I can see and feel how passionate you are about this. I think he probably could see that too. In the mean time just chilll though. :-)

Thank you! I was hoping my passion would come across. I have had many trials and tribulations in my life but Disney has always been there to remind me that I can do anything I set my heart to and that dreams do come true. Every time I visit Disney Land I cry at the fireworks just hearing that my dreams can all come true, it gives me the greatest hope and joy that I cry. I want to be a part of that magic and to be able to share that with others. Thank you for such an uplifting response. It means so much to me to have a Disney family on here.

My friend tells her daughter that they are so big that if they talked then their voices would be too loud for our ears. haha. her daughter is 3

Yeah, its a large deciding factor. They do not provide transportation to Disney Land. You have to take public transportation. So them knowing you have a car there is very important in their eyes. Thats why i didn't even apply to DL.

Does it really make that big of a difference? I was asked if I had my own transportation and I said yes. Im gonna use my car the whole time. Does that really help my chances that much???? It would be great if it did

Good luck! I had mine at 11:15 this morning; was scheduled for 11, but my interviewer called a bit late. We talked for 22 minutes, and she mentioned Transportation several times, which is awesome! She could probably tell I was nervous at the beginning, but I felt a lot more comfortable within 2 to 3 minutes of talking with her. I feel it went well, though she did not mention how long it would be before I heard; I also was told I am not being considered for a Character Performer role, which is all right by me.

Best of luck to everyone! Now I'm off to check my email and dashboard fanatically for the next 3 weeks. :chewy:

haha.... my interviewer called an hour early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so unprepared. haha. But I think it went pretty well. I was super nervous as well and froze a few times but I answered every question as best I could. I was told 2-3 weeks until i find out. it is probably the same with you.

After the interview i realized i should have said. "See if there are any other cast members around to help me out, and if not politely excuse myself and answer the phone. Since i was talking to the guest first i would ask the caller if i can put them on hold. Then apologize to the original guest for the interruption. After I've helped the first guest i will go back to the caller and thank them for holding"

This is actually probably the best answer. I'm not a cast member at WDW or DL but this is exactly what they train us to do at other locations. We absolutely have to answer the phone- ignoring it isn't a good idea unless there is somebody else around to help answer the phone.

Anyway, so about DCP. I sent in an application and haven't heard anything. It's been about three business days if the weekends don't count. Everyone else got an e-mail really soon after their application. The only thing I can think that would be apart of the hold-up is that I am already a cast member (in which you are exempt from the WBI.) But I don't know if that's it because when I tried to log on to the page it said incorrect password (I don't know how that happened.) So I sent for the e-mail notification and I never got that either. I don't know exactly what to do other than wait for the five business days to be up.

The why doesn't Mickey talk question? Hmm... It's a tricky one and I don't know for sure but I would say something among the lines of "Mickey is on vocal rest so that he can have a nice, strong voice at his show in front of the castle later on" or "Mickey is just getting over a sore throat so he's resting his voice for a while" or something to that affect. Just to stay in character.

You have to call Casting to get exempt officially from the WBI if you are active. They move you on to scheduling the phone interview from there. I too am a cast member but I had the invite to do the WBI the night I applied and scheduled the phone interview for two days later.

See but that is sort of my point... I never got the invite to do the WBI and I'm wondering why.

No problem! ♥ When we both get in we can party and go crazy about it hehe. Disney is my dream too and it's something I've wanted for my entire youth and to know I'm really actually going through with this and am taking the steps to work there blows my mind when I think about it too hard.

We'll just have to have a DIS CP party after everyone is moved in!

I actually haven't told anyone about applying. I want to announce it when I get accepted, but be able to keep it on the down low if something unexpected happens...my mom knows but my sister and father have no idea! I think my niece might freak out when she finds out.

Definitely!

My family actually all knows, but they dont support it. So I am in this one alone. lol. but I dont mind. It just gives me that much more strength to achieve my dreams. I can not wait to hear back from them! I am checking my dashboard constantly for anything at all. :surfweb: :earsboy:

Okk, so my interview was on Friday at 3. And it wasn't great. Just ok. It could have gone better. I was really nervous, and hopefully my recruiter recognized that! She was very quick and too the point and that just made my nervousness worse. Has anyone else just had an 'ok' interview and still got accepted? I feel like my interview wasn't good enough :/

My interviewer didnt say anything but the questions and was really quiet so I feel the same way. I rambled a bit because his questions were vague but they were decent answers. not wonderful, but not bad. everyone probably feels their interview couldve been better
