November 2011 car rentals

Just went in and "modified" my reservation for an economy car, 11/1 -11/9 at MCO using Costco code (of which I am a member and have the card) and Rate code AA8X and the $35 off coupon code of AD2359FDF.

My total WITH an additional free driver and all taxes is (drum roll please) $92.72!!
That is a little more than $10 a day!
:banana::cool1::banana:

Hope this helps others. I have definitely found that using a rate code (AA8X) is key.

After days of tearing my hair out, I finally got these codes to work for us too!! 11/1-11/7 for a standard $129!!!! We previously had a 1 day rental from the Dolphin for a standard for $37 and now we keep it for the week!

Question: Since its a Costco code, do we still get the extra driver for free?

I've just re-booked my Alamo reservation and now have a mid-size for a total of $123 for 11/1 - 11/8.

For the last week the rates have been all over the place - sometimes over $200, sometimes "down" to $160. This is the first big drop I've seen.

:cool1:

PS - Used my Insider ID and the $35 coupon AD2359FDF

I think you're wrong about a mid-size being a full-size at MCO. It's a standard that is a full-size, because I have rented mid-size cars from Alamo at MCO before.

My Alamo rental for a Standadrd just went down another $4 today. Now at $74.82, with $37.34 being taxes and fees. Nov 26 - Dec 1.

I just re-did my National rental and it went from $350 to $170 for 10 days. This was with amex contract and a $35 coupon.

Thanks for posting! I went from $130 this am for a standard to $112 for a full size!

Today, it seems that booking thru Costco is cheaper than booking thru Alamo. Saved another $18!!
:cool1:

The coupon is an e-coupon so there is nothing to print. I would bring my Costco card just in case though. Sometimes they have asked for it at the gate.
In any case...here is a link to the coupon ... https://www.alamo.com/index.do?action=/hotDealsTemplate&msg=Alamo_American2008specials-35-off
It is good until Dec 2012 for $35 off.

Hey Costco users!!!
Kris - thanks for the link!
Change the insiders code to 7015309 and get a 25% off plus add the $35 off coupon too! My reservation went down $5 grand total $65!!!!!
and p.s on my reservation it does say additional driver included!

I just double checked my Alamo reservation again and it dropped $25! Now I have a Standard booked for 8 days 11/18 - 11/25 (but leaving late after an early morning arrival) and the total w/taxes - $99!!!! To think I started with a reserved car that was $260!
Just used insiders link with 20% Florida rental discount and coupon for $35 off...

Just checked Alamo for a friend- 11/4-11/10 they want $637 for a minivan for 6 days. Do people really pay that much???:confused3

(I haven't put in any codes yet, just wanted to see their "base" price)

Wow I started at $338 for a month ago for a 10 day + 8 hour rental from Nov 20 - 29th. I used the Alamo $35 coupon AD2359FDF and insiders ID 7015309 and now I'm at $151. Nice for a holiday week.

Congrats on the great rate! I think the 7015309 code is costco though. Just wanted to clarify.

You are totally correct on that one. No way is a Corolla (for instance) considered a full size

Does anyone know if you can mix the codes and coupons? I was just playing around with the Costco code - 7014627 and the BJs $40 coupon - AD8Z21SDB and got my rate lower than either using the Costco code and $30 Costco coupon or the BJs code and the $40 BJs coupon. Just wondering if they'd give me a hard time since the code is for Costco, but the coupon is BJs.

Thanks!

I had to look several times, but I just lowered my already great rate for 11/19-11/16 to ... $77.89:cool1:. I can't believe it. That is a standard size through Alamo with the insider code and the $35 off coupon. I could have gotten a smaller car and gotten it for even less! Thanks everybody!

check your rates for the end of november

base rate seems a bit higher if you just do a week....if you do a week and a day it is 138~

we have booked november 24 - dec 2, up until tonight/this morning we have been hovering in the 300~ range, now it is down over 150$ for the 8 days

Hi lawgs. Thanks for the info. I have been in Alamo mode past several trips. Any suggested codes and/or coupons?
