Check your rates!!! They just dropped this afternoon. I was able to get a standard through Alamo for 10 days for $193 INCLUDING TAXES!

My rates have actually gone up ... and quite a bit at that. I guess it depends on your August travel dates and vehicle availability, etc. While I'm happy with the price I have = $152 for a standard for 9 days, I'll still check daily until we leave - which is 5 days from today. I scored my price on 7/19, which was the lowest that I have seen it since I started looking - in April. Today's price for the same car, same dates, etc is $264.

Same here. My dates are from Aug 25~ Sep 3. I'm renting for 10 days and I scored standard for $165 from Alamo back on 7/18. I haven't seen anything lower since.

Im only looking for a 1 day rental the day im arriving and leaving since i fly to Sanford and would like to do some quick shopping on arrival (supplies) and outlet mall on departure.

So far the rates are fairly stable for that, but i figure there really isnt much to save on if you just rent and turn in on the same day?

I used the costco code posted here with the 35 off coupon code -got a full size for $191 for 11 days from alamo (7014627, AD2349FDF). These rates are down from 232 a few days ago.

This is what I'm finding too. I want our rental for 2 or 3 days, but can live with one. have yet to find any codes that bring the prices down on the short rentals. Looks like I'm heading toward a wegoshop delivery.

Yup! Prices are definitely down this morning! Still $6 more than my lowest price, but for those that are thinking of locking something in its a good time!

Yep, my rates are down too! I was able to get a Standard for 11 days at $180 including taxes. Down by about $13 from what it was yesterday.

Rates are dropping for late August. They are about 10 dollars higher than the rate I have locked in. Typically when this happens they lower them several times in the day and then it stops after about 24 hours. So if it's looking lower for you today..watch closely!
I'm still hopeful I can shave a few dollars off by the end of the day.

Thanks for the tip! Just checked the rates for my dates, and the prices have definitely dropped today. Still about $30 more than when I locked in, but worth watching to see how low they will go.

Always the optimist, I am still holding to the hope of getting my $115 (taxes in, standard car) for one week down to $100.

Or can someone please tell me what the best deal is for 8/7-8/11/12 for MCO? Any car other than Compact/Economy? I tried the Amex, Costco and the German code and it is still expensive. Thanks in advance.

Edit to add: I currently have a reservation for a Midsize with E-Z rent a car for $122 total, but I am worried that this is a discount rent-a-car company and would prefer to go with the mainstream ones instead.

For 4 days like that I would bid on priceline and score a deal on a rental that way with one of the major car rental companies at MCO.

hm...not on my week. I had $109 total for a standard for aug 21-27. Base rate was 117, amex discount, minus $35 coupon and tax. Prices are still above that.

I'm really happy with my new rate of $176 for 11 days for a standard w/ Alamo. If it drops any more I'll be thrilled!

I have a Standard (Fullsize) for 17 days, Aug 16-Sep 2 for $292.62. I haven't seen it go down any lower than that. I am totally ok with that price!

My dates are August 15th - 26th, and my rates haven't gone down since I booked it either. I am paying $198 for a standard car for pick up at MCO and drop off at Sanford Airport. While I would like it to go lower, I am pretty happy with that price, especially since I am picking up and dropping off in different locations. But, I will probably still check a couple times a day to see if I can save a few more $$.

I'm with Buffettgirl...I'm at $118 incl taxes for a full-size with my AP discount and the $35 coupon for the 17-24. I've been stalking Alamo everyday since I booked and haven't gotten anything close to that deal
