Cat 5E Aft Room Question

Has anyone been in 8186 on the Dream? We are in this cabin for a 3-night (14-Aug-14) sailing. My big 5-0 bday. Gulp. Yikes.
Thanks!

We had 10158 on the Dream. It was a beautiful room with a large wrap around balcony. There are 4 chairs out there. 2 chairs and 2 loungers actually. I loved sitting out in the sun on my own private balcony with a Mickey bar. The cabin seemed pretty roomy. We didn't hear a peep from Cabanas. The first night I was woken by a tinkling sound and then I realized I was hearing the hangers in the closet jingling together so I'm not the heaviest sleeper. That's one tip. If they're going fast the whole ship can be a little bumpy. If your not using the hangers take them down.

We have this room booked for a b2b August 2015 for my 50th bday. Do you have pictures?

We had 7192 on the Dream and we will be in 7192 on the Fantasy in February. Please keep all of them a secret, as I don't want everyone trying to book MY cabins ;)

And, the ones at the corners are the wrap around ones and I think they often hold those for GTY because of some being handicapped rooms. I almost never see them available to book. BUt, I might be wrong on that.

You are getting me excited! I have 9174 & 9176 booked for a Nov 2015 Fantasy cruise :-)
Can't wait for that huge balcony.

:) Me too!! We have 9174 & 9176 on the Fantasy in Oct 2015! There are some youtube video tours that really show just how huge the balconies are! The kids are gonna flip when they see it! (And me too!)

We stayed in a deluxe family veranda on the Fantasy last time, and while I'll miss the extra cabin space, I think the extra veranda space this time will more than make up for it (and the $500 price difference between the categories helps ease the pain, too!LOL)

We actually have the 4 cabins in the middle & are trying to get the 2 corner ones for the rest of our party... Our finger's are crossed!

We had 6690 this last January on the Fantasy, and we will have 7688 next January. I can't wait! We loved the aft view so much!

I have 9176 booked for next November. I had 8188 but wanted to be on deck 9 so I changed it. There is a video on YouTube of 2 kids putting on a pirate pirate: play and you can see how large the verandah is. Can't wait it will be our first cruise.

Want big? Try 8184... You do only get one bath though.

We got that on our first cruise ever anywhere. On the Dream on a 5n double dip booked under OGT.

DW was afraid it was going to be too big and too empty and not 'cozy'. Once we opened that veranda, that's where all worries stopped. Until we talked about on board booking. Since we had no clue how big or small other rooms would be, we got guest services to show us a couple of other room types (inside and veranda).

We did hear some vibrations when backing into port in the morning. But it was a nice wake up call. Open up the door and WHAT A VIEW!!!

We have 9674 for the upcoming Fantasy trip in Xmas

8188 is like Fight Club. You don't talk about Fight Club ;)

So we should probably throw in the warning about excessive vibrating and shaking and the constant soot, right? :rotfl2::rotfl:

JUST KIDDING > well, sort of :) :lmao:

Ps. Yes we love cat 5E's as well and love being aft so we are in the fan club too and no regrets!

staying in 8682 on the dream next week. It never showed up when I looked online to book it but our TA was able to snag it for us.

I would think having an aft room would have some great views.

I certainly liked our views from 10166 (center) when leaving St Thomas last year :)

As far as the noise from Cabanas, I think we heard some while they were cleaning, but was definitely not enough to wake us up at night or bother us during the day....we booked same room next year on the Dream :thumbsup2 I found it very convenient and easy to run up one flight of stairs to get breakfast for the family and bring it back to the room.

Plenty of verandah space....both covered and uncovered

Absolutely - they're terrible!!!! Unless you're the heaviest of sleepers and don't spend hardly any time in your cabin.

We probably shouldn't talk so much about these cabins. 8188 actually wasn't available when we first booked twice, not long after release. I stalked the site and when I saw 8188 available - I quickly told our TA to make the switch.

wow that view!

Love this tread. We were able to book rooms 10658, 10660 and 10662 for our very first cruise with DCL on the Fantasy for next year. Tell me how much we are going to "hate" these rooms!! That way no one else will want to book them so we can get them again in the future. We had aft rooms on another cruise line when we did the Panama Canal many years ago, so we know how lucky we got.:dance3:

Off the Dream last Sunday :( Had room 10662. First time staying in an aft, and I hope to never go back to another type of room.

First night I heard chairs from Cabanas, other nights I was either too tired or other folks were too tired to be up there.

We had some "soot" debris one time, but stateroom host cleaned it up and it didn't happen again.

The extra space and chaise lounges make it all worth it. You get 2 chairs, 2 chaise lounges, 1 side table. Verandah at times was full sun, full shade or both.

You can't say enough about the view. Backed into castaway cay and nassau. Then watch the water as you travel along.

Fun reading all of the reviews here - thanks all for the comments. I was able to snag 8188 for a future sailing and we are very excited to stay there :)

Now someone delete the entire thread before the word gets out any more :rolleyes1
