We'’re out of it! … A summer 14 “MAGICal” Med adventure Day 14/Aug 05 updated 05/05

The views and scenery there is just gorgeous!

what a nice afternoon icecream treat. You sure didn't go hungry on this tour!

I LOVE the cheese plate on DCL. I could eat 4 of them a day....if I wasn't so worried about looking like a pig. :rotfl:

Sounds like a great tour and a great day! Shame the Prosecco wasn't chilled enough, but the cheese plate looks lovely!

It happens to all of us. Somehow, 24 hours don't seem to last as long as they used to. ;)

You sure got that one right! The older I get, the shorter my day seems to be. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Yeah, for being all caught up on the calendars. :thumbsup2

Just in case I don't get back here in time, I want to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS! I also want to thank Karin for her awesome trip reports and Tom for all the work I'm sure he puts into his advent calendars. I think he gets credit for some photos and graphics in these TR's, too. :cool1:

Merry Christmas, Karin and Tom!!
The ice cream looks wonderful. The pictures show such a breathtaking view.

What a gorgeous view. I love the houses goingg up the mountain.

Sorry to hear of your freinds loss.

Happier times then followed by the arrival of your cruise buddies. LOL.

Nice pics from Germany.

Love your walking back pics.

The food looked very good.

Beautiful pics from the tour.

that is odd that was used to measure olive oil.

Glad you walked up, that is so pretty.

Love the scenery from the boat. I would have gone upstairs too.

The food on the table he was guarding looked so good. I am drooling. LOL.

Love pesto and that looked delicious.

Sounds like it was a great tour.

I am all caught up again, finally.

Hi Karin! :wave2:

I was up until 1am reading your updates last night. The Cinque Terre is gorgeous- I have wanted to visit there since our first trip to Italy in 2006. Our Celebrity Western is booked for September 2016 (going for our 30th anniversary)and we will also be porting in La Spezia- I am SO EXCITED to see those little towns! And everything else, lol! I actually just sent a client there who had no idea about it- she said it was their favorite part of Italy. :goodvibes

Merry Christmas, hope I have time for a little DIS over the holidays!

Ellen:flower3:

You had a great tour and some spectacular views.

That sounds like a great tour.

Merry Christmas Karin!!

:santa: TO ALL OUR FRIENDS HERE ON THE DISBOARDS ..... :santa:

I hope you and Tom had a wonderful and very Merry Christmas!!! I would really love to experience Christmas in some European countries one day. All of the pics I see are so beautiful!

Nice way to finish up your tour, and that ice cream looks  You sure were way up there when you were high above Monterosso. That one picture straight down was.......... :scared1:

Nice way to end a full day of touring by getting back to your room and finding the wine and cheese tray! ::yes::

I've never thought of having pesto as a sauce on pasta or gnocci. Sounds delicious!

What a beautiful day for some icecream.

Aw, that's too bad about the processco not being cold enough. That would have been a nice treat to have with your cheese plate.

That ice cream looks amazing and those views - just stunning! Thanks for all the lovely pictures! Just perfect! :good vibes

The ice cream tasted as good as it looked and I loved the Cinque Terre one, lots of different nuts and dried fruit in there. Yummy!

Nice cheese plate treat! Looks like that hit the spot! :thumbsup2

It was a welcome surprise and we did see a few more of these during the cruise. ;)

Hi Karin! Getting caught up again - off work for two weeks so hoping to keep caught up for a bit and maybe even get my own TR moving along.

You have been much better with all the catching up and updating than I have been. My holiday is nearly over and I only now find time to come here and do some serious "work".

I so loved reading about your foodie tour. The sights were amazing, and getting to try so many yummy foods as well. Perfect!

It was definitely one of the highlights of this vacation. Umberto was so knowledgeable and all the food was outstanding. We loved it.

The views and scenery there is just gorgeous!

It is a really beautiful part of Italy.

what a nice afternoon icecream treat. You sure didn't go hungry on this tour!

I LOVE the cheese plate on DCL. I could eat 4 of them a day....if I wasn't so worried about looking like a pig. :rotfl:

I completely understand about the cheese plate. And we did have a few more, not on the same day though. :lmao:

Sounds like a great tour and a great day! Shame the Prosecco wasn't chilled enough, but the cheese plate looks lovely!

It was one of the best days of out vacation. I was really happy I had bit the bullet and booked that private tour as it was worth every penny!
No big problem about the Prosecco as the fridge was stocked with drinks and we corrected the problem lateron ourselves. :rotfl:

Thank you, Nancy!
I hope you had a great holiday season as well.
Tom gets credit for many of the photos and ALL the card and headliner pics here. He is very good at it!

Merry Christmas, Karin and Tom!!
The ice cream looks wonderful. The pictures show such a breathtaking view.

Thank you!
Hope your Christmas was wonderful too!

We both loved the ice cream and the whole day was just great!

What a gorgeous view. I love the houses goingg up the mountain.

The whole area looks so beautiful. When you next come to Italy you need to visit there. It is a beautiful part of this world.

We loved seeing those little villages and really enjoyed checking them out and the walk up to the church was great and the view was just "wow". :goodvibes

Love the scenery from the boat. I would have gone upstairs too.

The food on the table he was guarding looked so good. I am drooling. LOL.

We could not believe how much food there was. More than enough to feed us all and it was all delicious. We felt stuffed afterwards.

Love pesto and that looked delicious.

This is the region where pesto originates from and they sure know how to make it. It was far better than anything I have ever tasted before and I just LOVE pesto!

Sounds like it was a great tour.

I am all caught up again, finally.

And as I said earlier, I was so happy I had booked that tour. It was worth every penny and the huge tip we gave Umberto in the end too! :thumbsup2

I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the updates, Ellen.

Ellen, if you want to go to the Cinque Terre, I can only recommend booking a tour with Umberto. He really knows about the history and is really nice. He will work with you when it comes to "tweak" the tour too.
Let me know if I should give you his email.

Spectacular view, Karen.

Wishing you and Tom a very

Thank you, Kathy! :goodvibes

You had a great tour and some spectacular views.

That sounds like a great tour.

Merry Christmas Karin!!

We were so happy we had picked this private tour. It gave us time to take it all in and we had some great views and some great food tastings as well. ;)

Hope you had a wonderful holiday season too!

I hope you and Tom had a wonderful and very Merry Christmas!!! I would really love to experience Christmas in some European countries one day. All of the pics I see are so beautiful!

Thank you, Marv. We had a quiet but nice Christmas and I hope yours was wonderful too.
I guess you would like the Christmas markets and lovely hot brews they sell there too!

Nice way to finish up your tour, and that ice cream looks  You sure were way up there when you were high above Monterosso. That one picture straight down was.......... :scared1:

It was a great tour and we were so happy we had decided on doing it instead of trying to explore on our own. It sure was money well spent! :thumbsup2
And yes, sometimes the views from high up were a bit "frightening". It was a long way down and it was STRAIGHT down. :lmao:

Nice way to end a full day of touring by getting back to your room and finding the wine and cheese tray! ::yes::

We sure did make the best out of finding those treats in our room. There were more than enough drinks in the fridge to make up for the none chilled Prosecco and the cheese plate was a yummy treat when you return tired from a whole day of exploring. :thumbsup2

I've never thought of having pesto as a sauce on pasta or gnocci. Sounds delicious!

Having Pesto on pasta or gnocci was the original way to eat it. There was not much they could use on their pasta, but herbs were growing and they had lovely cheese and pine nuts, so pesto was a great addition to the diet.

What a beautiful day for some icecream.

It was a great day for ice cream and exploring. :goodvibes

Aw, that's too bad about the processco not being cold enough. That would have been a nice treat to have with your cheese plate.

It was a shame we were not able to open it right away, but we had lots of other drinks in the fridge, so we did not have a problem washing the cheese down. :lmao:
