Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Information & Questions

Hello! Does anyone know if 2 pack n plays would fit in the Queen bedroom? I'm hoping to be able to put my 2.5 year old twins in there for nap time.
TIA! :)

Does Aoa have peanut butter sandwiches? My granddaughter (3 yrs) is eating them just about every meal. No jelly, just peanut butter.

While I haven't actually used pack & plays in the room, I'm confident there's enough space to put 2 of them in the master bedroom. There's a large space between the bed and the bathroom and 2 pack & plays would definitely fit there. And because I'm a dork and I took some measurements in the room the last time we stayed, I know that there is 38" of space between the bed and the outer wall -- so a pack & play will fit over there if you want the 2 of them separated.

Hello all. Trying to figure out the logistics of how to make everyone comfortable during our two night stay here. DD13 is not happy about having to share a bed or sleep on a pull out type bed again, but I assured her she will be fine for a couple nights. My question is what do you think the more comfortable arrangement would be - 5"7 DD13 plus average height DD9 sharing the table bed and 5"5 DS13 plus DS7 sharing the sofa bed or vice versa??? Not sure where our two year old will sleep cause she is too big for a pack n' play, we might bring a toddler sized travel cot, but chances are she will be inclined to sleep in the queen bed with DH and me.

The table bed seems slightly smaller than the sofa bed, but it's also a little softer, so I think the lighter ones should use the sofa. Or you could let them swap nights so each gets to do both. How about an air mattress for the toddler? Or, if you stay in a Cars room, the big sofa cushion covered in a sheet makes a perfect toddler bed (like a giant changing table pad). Your kids will end up loving it. Mine don't want to stay anywhere else now. They're kind of crabby that I'm making them stay at WL for Thanksgiving instead! LOL

Here are the measurements of the 2 beds just for reference:
Pull-out Couch: 77" x 53" x 6"
Table: 75" x 54" x 8"

Both of the pull-out beds are quite comfortable. My 5'11" sons have slept on both of them and have fit with no problems, so I'm sure your kids will be fine (height wise). They also both said they were more comfortable than most hotel beds they've slept in. My kids don't like to share beds. They'll share a bed in the hotels while we're traveling to and from Disney, but a night or two of "togetherness" is about all they can tolerate. They're not used to sharing a bed at home so when they've got someone else in their bed all night, they don't sleep well, which leads to cranky kids. So we take an air mattress or two (depending on how many kids are traveling with us) for them to use when we're in an AoA suite. I agree with the PP that the couch cushions wrapped in a sheet make an excellent bed for young kids. My daughter has slept on that set-up for our last two trips (at ages 8 & 10...and she's tall for her age). I know I've read other posts where people said they've done that. I probably wouldn't bother to bring the toddler cot and bring a single size air mattress instead so that one of the older kids can sleep on it if they want to. Will the 7 & 9 year olds share a bed? You could put one teen on the air mattress; one on the table bed; and the two younger ones on the couch. The toddler can sleep on the couch cushions either in the bedroom with you or they also fit very nicely between the pullout couch and the wall.

Thank you for your suggestions . We are booked for Lion King but will take a look at Cars if the sofa cushion is larger there and would allow us to have something to use as an additional " cot" for our toddler or even for DS7.

Thank you for the measurements and your suggestions. My kids are the same way in that a night or two of "togetherness" is about it for them in terms of having to share beds which is why we are only doing two nights here before checking into a 3 bdrm condo where everyone will have their own bed . We did a full week in the ASMu family suites five years ago when they were 2,4,9, and 9 which worked out alright at the time but even after that our oldest DD said she didn't want to go back to sharing a bed again (particularly pull out beds) :sad2:. With five kids now, this will be our last opportunity to stay at AOA while our youngest is 2 so it has become a must do for us and why I'm a little preoccupied with trying to ensure everyone's comfort even if it's only for a couple nights. I'm sure we will love it here.:goodvibes

I wouldn't worry about switching to a Cars suite. The sofas are the same size in all of the suites. The only possible advantage that the Cars sofa has is that it's a single seat cushion rather than 2 cushions. We've stayed in a LK suite twice and my daughter uses the two cushions from the couch. I just have mousekeeping bring extra sheets and I "wrap" the cushions from end-to-end so they don't slide apart during the night. There might actually be some in the drawer in the "closet" in the living room. I know there's a blanket in there but can't remember if there are sheets as well.

I think you'll have a much better experience at AoA. I've never stayed in an ASMu suite, but my brothers family has -- with 2 teenagers. They both said the pull-out beds at AoA were MUCH better than the ones at ASMu.

We also have 5 kids so I understand wanting to take advantage of the suite while you still can! Our oldest sons are in their twenties but still occasionally travel with us so planning an onsite stay can be challenging when trying to stay in a certain budget.

So after a lot of thinking and then double thinking and then changing my mind again, I finally just booked a "Family Suite" because I really couldn't decide which theme I wanted. I like the Cars, and that they have their own pool, but I didn't want to risk being super far away. I like the theming of the Lion King, but no pool right outside. And I like the pool at Nemo but feel like the Nemo section will be too busy for me. So, I just left it up to the room assigner, lol!!

But...I'm assuming that when I do online check-in I can request "close to transportation"? That's really my only concern.

Also, traveling with my son and my mother. The boy will probably share the queen bed with me as he is afraid of sleeping in hotel rooms (which is amazing considering the number of hotel rooms this kid has stayed in during his young life).

So, which is the "best" bed left? Table bed or pull out couch? For my...not quite so young...mother?

The table bed is COMFY!!! Very Comfy..
We just returned from our stay at CARS!! AMAZING resort.. we loved it.. None of the rooms are a FAR walk except for the Little Mermaid rooms. less then 3 minutes and you can be in the Main Building.
You will LOVE your resort!

I think the table bed will be the most comfortable for her. The mattress is thicker than the sofa bed, plus the table bed is closer to the height of a normal bed where the sofa bed is closer to the ground (like a typical sofa bed). The downsides to the table bed are that it's right by the door to the hall so you might hear more foot traffic from the hallway; and you can't see the TV from the table bed. To me, neither of these things are a big deal but I know to some people they might be.

Can someone confirm that there is no difference between the Finding Nemo suites vs all others other than, possibly, location and that's it's adjacent to the main pool and bridge? From looking at the map, it seems like the other suits, depending on the actual room, are about the same distance from the main bldg/dining. What makes the Nemo suites just a tad bit more expensive?

Also, what is a "family suite"? Is that a generic choice that allows Disney to assign anything that's available at check-in?

Thanks!

The Nemo Suites are more centrally located and right by the main pool. Even the furthest room in Nemo would be pretty close to the main building. Building number 2 Cars would be further away. Lion King is pretty close, but it does not have it's own pool. The family Suites sleep 6. All of the rooms are suites except for the Little Mermaid rooms which are much smaller (sleep 4) and are much further away from the main building.

I think the sandwiches they have are the packaged, frozen uncrustables. You may want to bring your own peanut butter and bread, or have it delivered. Some of the resorts sell those in their shops but I've never stayed at AoA

As a PP said, there is no difference between the Nemo suites and the Cars and Lion King Suites. They just started charging more for the Nemo Suites in the last few months. I'm sure that's because they get the most requests for those rooms and they are always booked solid. Most people will look at the map and think that the Nemo suites have the best location because they're right in the center of the resort and they have a pool. I thought the same thing. Then we stayed in a LK suite and realized that many of the LK suites are closer to the bus stops and food court than most of the Nemo suites...but you trade off having a pool right outside your door (though it's a quick walk to either the Nemo or the Little Mermaid pool from the LK buildings). And while most of the the Cars suites are decently close to the main building and bus stops, Building 2 has some suites that are as far away from the food court and bus stops as some of the Little Mermaid rooms. The Cars area does have it's own pool, so that's an advantage. If you go to a mapping website and starting calculating the distance from various rooms at Art of Animation to the food court and bus stops (usually the 2 things people want to be close to), it quickly becomes obvious that while Building 5 in the Nemo section is pretty centrally located and close to the food court, bus stops, and of course the pool; Building 4 in the Nemo section is not any closer to the food court or bus stops than either of the Lion King buildings...though it still has the advantage of a pool right outside the door. We have booked a Nemo suite 3 times but the first two times we switched to a LK suite when discounts came out (because there were no discounted rooms available in the Nemo section). On our upcoming trip, we were able to get the Summer Meal promotion on a Nemo room so we stuck with the Nemo suite. We probably would have stayed with the Nemo suite no matter what because we're traveling with another family who is staying at Pop Century, so we wanted to be close to the bridge since we will most likely be heading back and forth between the two resorts several times during our stay. So while I wouldn't normally be willing to pay more for a Nemo suite (since we prefer the location of the LK suites in relation to the food court and bus stops), on this trip it makes sense for us to try a Nemo suite...plus, we wanted to try something new this trip.

The term "family suite" is just a general term for any of the suites. They will put you wherever there is space available -- though most likely *not* in a Nemo suite since they're usually sold out. Some people have no preference for the 3 themes available or just can't decide which one they would prefer to be in so they leave that decision up to the room assignor.
