Love the YSH review. I haven't been back since our Diva trip. Seem like it may be time. Sorry to hear about the soup though. FWIW, I order my steak medium well when in WDW and usually it ends up being the perfect medium for me. I don't like my steak too rare so this has worked out in the past.

(and yes, October would be a great time to go to the Biergarten! I didn't even realize when I typed it!)

Oh, that would have been fun, dining with Austrians! :thumbsup2 What did they think of the food there?
All I remember is that they said that the food was Bavarian, not German. They said that when most Americans think of Germany, whether it is food or cuckoo clocks, it is really Bavaria. And they also said that Bavaria is very different from the rest of Germany. I don't remember whether they liked it or not.

Therefore I was excited to see that Yachtsman Steakhouse had added French Onion soup to their menu. Unfortunately though I was very disappointed with this. The predominant flavor of the broth was tomato. I would guess that they add either tomato juice or tomato paste to their broth and I didn't like it all. Not only did it not come close to the french onion soup at its rival steak restaurant, but it wasn't even as good as Chefs de France or Be our Guest.
That is very strange to add tomato juice or paste to French Onion soup. We had very good French Onion soup at Boatwrights at Port Orleans Riverside. We will be eating there again in June. :)

Along with my check, my server brought me a to-go cup full of ice tea. This was the one and only time that I recall being offered a drink refill to-go at a WDW restaurant. This gesture along with the friendly, yet professional and very attentive service which was provided by my team of servers, is why Yachtsman Steakhouse gets the award for BEST SERVICE on this trip.
That was really nice of them. The waitress at Crews Cup Lounge brought us to go cups when we ate lunch there. She knew that our daughter and grandchildren needed to catch the Magical Express and she made sure we were finished in plenty of time. She went the extra step on that one. :)

Sorry your soup was strange, adding tomato to French Onion just seems strange to me! Ah, maybe Medium Well is the way to order your steak at WDW??? Those mashed potatoes looked like yum!!! :thumbsup2

You ordered my favorite entree the filet!! Too bad they did not get it perfect, but at least you were able to enjoy it. Such heaven on a plate. That is too bad about the soup, I am a huge fan of the lobster bisque there and of course those rolls with garlic are delicious. I am so glad you had great service, our last trip our server was so professional and just down right nice! I can't wait to return there, hopefully we get back there in May.

Sorry the soup was a bust. Tomato and french onion seems just wrong. But your steak looks divine. We are likely venturing to Yachtsman next month. I've been hesitant to go since our first visit was utter perfection, but your steak gives me hope it continues to live up to expectations

Previously at WDW I too ordered my steaks medium well but then they started coming out overcooked so I switched to medium. Seemed to work fine for my next couple of trips but then this time, not so well. :confused3

You know I've never dined at Boatwright's, other than having breakfast there about 12 or 13 years ago. I think I need to add it to my bucket list if they have good French Onion soup. I also need to get back to Crew's Cup sometime. I've only eaten there once and that was in 2013 so I think it's time for another visit.

Well, after YSH I thought it was time to go back to ordering my steaks cooked medium well but that strategy doesn't exactly work out for me either...as you will see. ;)

I'm not really a fan of tomato-based soups so I've never tried their lobster bisque but my oldest DD has had it and really enjoyed it. :thumbsup2

Of my 10 or so visits to Yachtsman Steakhouse, I've only had bad service twice, plus on one of those visits the food was also bad. Unfortunately those two dinners were on back-to-back trips in late 2013 and Spring 2014. Thankfully on my next visit in Oct. 2014 both the service and food were much improved so I didn't have to invoke my "three strikes you're out" rule. And then with this last visit my faith in YSH has pretty much been restored. I hope it continues to live up to both of our expectations from here on out. ::yes::

On Monday, Nov. 2nd, I had breakfast at the Sci-Fi and lunch at the Epcot F & W Festival booths, both of which I've already reviewed earlier in my dining report. Therefore I'm moving on now to dinner, but first before leaving Epcot I want to give a shout out to Boys II Men for the awesome Eat to the Beat concert they gave that evening.

After using my FP+ to see their 6:45 concert from the Fast Pass reserved section, I killed some time at Epcot before heading to the Beach Club for my late dinner at...

Luckily they were able to get me in about 1/2 hour earlier than my ADR. I was seated at a table for 2, not far from the juke box...

And practically right underneath the sign with the take-out menu for ice cream...

But I was here for an actual meal this time, which I chose from their regular dine-in menu...

I started by ordering a Coke, and "made it heavenly by adding vanilla syrup" for an extra $.50. :thumbsup2 For my entree, I followed a recommendation made by Jeri (jerseytinkerbell) during her last dining report and ordered a hot dog. But unlike Jeri I didn't order mine plain. Instead I added both cheese and chili, with an added cost of $.99 for each topping.

Although I was tempted to substitute onion rings (at an extra charge) for the french fries (as I love the onion rings here), I'm glad I didn't because the fries were great. I thought they were actually as good as, if not better than the french fries at the Plaza Restaurant. As for the hot dog, it was fine. I think it would have been better if the generous amount of shredded cheese that was piled on top had been melted. The hot dog itself though was pretty good, so maybe Jeri has the right idea with ordering it plain here. ;)

Though I was pretty full after the hot dog and fries, I find it impossible to go to Beaches & Cream without ordering ice cream.

Despite the fact that someone at the table next to mine had the most wonderful looking banana split delivered to them just before I ordered my dessert, I still had to go with my favorite Beaches & Cream ice cream sundae, the No Way Jose (in it's smaller, two scoops instead of three version). Now I've ordered this sundae several times here and it normally looks beautiful, like this...

But this time a better name for the sundae I received would have been "Ugly but Good", as this sundae was uglier than any sundae I've ever seen from Via Napoli. :lmao:

However, I'm happy to report that despite its rather "ugly" appearance it tasted as delicious as usual. Oh, and in case you were wondering just exactly what a No Way Jose sundae is, in it's smaller version you get two scoops of ice cream (one vanilla, one chocolate) topped with peanut butter and hot fudge, a mound of whipped cream, peanut butter and chocolate chips, and perched at the very top is a maraschino cherry.

So even though the chili cheese hot dog wasn't anything special, the french fries, vanilla coke, and "Ugly but Good" (aka No Way Jose) sundae were all great. In fact, they were so good that I ended up returning to Beaches & Cream for Round II a few days later. ;)

Next up: Breakfast from Starring Rolls

Looks like a great meal at Beaches and Cream. I've only ever eaten ice cream there. And in January I had my first no way Jose! I can definitely say it won't be my last!

Yum! I had the regular one in January and it was fabulous, but too big! Can you just ask for a smaller version, or do you have to specify the toppings you want? I didn't see a mini version on the menu, but I'd definitely get one next time. So good!

That sounds like a perfect night! I love Boys to Men and the No Way Jose :thumbsup2 So many things on that menu look good, Round II sounds like it was an awesome idea :goodvibes

We are doing Yachtsman and Beaches and Cream for our upcoming May trip, a first time at both restaurants for us. Your reviews are so good, and I'm excited to try both!

Boys to Men are fantastic live, I saw them back in 2009 when I attended my very first F&W festival. Your no way jose looks amazing!!! We have never been to Beaches and Cream, but would love to try it one day.

Having read your past dining reviews, when I went to Beaches and Cream this past trip, I tried to order the smaller version of the No Way Jose. Only to be told by my server that no such thing existed! :confused3 I thought maybe they stopped doing it, but I'm guessing it was lack of CM knowledge. I sacrificed and ordered the full version anyway. :p We also got the hot dog and fries which I thought were excellent.

It took me awhile to discover the delicious No Way Jose at Beaches & Cream. Now I find it impossible to get anything else for dessert there. ;)

I've just asked for the smaller two scoop (instead of 3) version of the No Way Jose and they always seem to know what I want. What I'm charged for is a 2 scoop sundae ($5.99) plus an additional $.99 for the extra topping, since I get both peanut butter and hot fudge. Then they just substitute the chocolate and peanut butter chips for the nuts and WAALAA...you have a smaller version of the No Way Jose!! :thumbsup2

Round II ended up being even better than Round I! :thumbsup2

Oh, I hope you enjoy both! Have a great trip, Jillian!

Wow, you have never been to Beaches & Cream?!?! You need to get on that, Lori!

I've never had a problem with ordering/asking for a smaller version of the No Way Jose but if you ever have this problem again, try ordering a two scoop sundae (one scoop vanilla, one chocolate) with both peanut butter and hot fudge toppings and sub chocolate and peanut butter chips for the nuts. You should be charged $5.99 (the 2 scoop sundae price) plus an additional $.99 for the extra topping. Or at least that's how I've always been charged when I've asked for the smaller version of the No Way Jose. :thumbsup2

On Tuesday morning, Nov. 3, I had a delicious breakfast snack with my coffee, a snack which I had gotten the day before at DHS. Following my pre-park opening breakfast on Monday at the Sci-Fi, I stopped in at my new favorite WDW bakery...

The park was just opening so I had the place to myself. It was just me and two very friendly CMs who I struck up a conversation up. They welcomed me to take as many photos as I'd like so I did just that. Some of the things which caught my eye were these chocolate chip cookies...

Cheese danish...

Croissants...

Cherry Turnovers...

And bagels...

Then of course, also catching my eye was just about everything in their glass display cases. I mean, just look at the size of this sandwich...

And the desserts looked quite tasty too, like this Banana Split...

Strawberry Parfaits...

Tiramisu...

Fruit Tarts...

Chocolate Eclairs...

....and Napoleons.

And then last was the display case which held all of the glorious Starring Rolls brownies and cupcakes. Here I saw brownies covered with white chocolate chips...

...or mini M&M's.

Then the Starring Rolls signature cupcakes, starting with this one...

The Red Velvet one...

And the Butterfinger...

Last was this seasonal cupcake, which made its first appearance at Starring Rolls on this day...

This was a pumpkin cupcake with maple buttercream frosting. I didn't try this, but it sure was cute! :goodvibes

What I did buy was a cheese danish, which I saved and enjoyed for my early morning breakfast snack before heading to the park the next day.

If you are a fan of cheese danish and have never had one at WDW, then I highly recommend that you do so A.S.A.P. I can personally vouch for the ones at Starring Rolls Cafe. :thumbsup2

Next up: Brunch at Tusker House

Mmmm, beaches and cream. We finally got to try it on our last trip and it was so good. Though I couldn't resist the onion rings ; ) You definitely win the ugly ice cream award but glad it was good.

Speaking of glad and good, you finally got your cheese Danish. Every time I see one in the world I think of it as the Barb Danish :-)

I'm kicking myself for not stopping at Starring Rolls on our trip. That pumpkin cupcake looks yummy. I LOVE pumpkin.

I hate to say it, but a cheese danish with that much icing would be a total turn-off for me.

A danish is all about the filling. The more stuff they put outside the filling, whether it's raisins and spices in the dough or extra sugar icing, the less interesting it becomes. The best danishes have no sugar icing, just a slightly sticky coating.

Mmmmm, the closest I got to a Disney cheese danish on our March trip was one at the airport on the way home! Not the same at all! Must try to rectify that in August!

The bakery items look so yummy. I have to try the famous cheese Danish everyone talks about, it looks so simple but I do love cream cheese Danish, is it similar? Your sundae did look a bit of a mess, but I bet it was delicious! We stayed a BCV last April and had ice cream at BC, it was good. It sure is small in there lol!
