Official thread to keep track of GTY cabins ASSIGNED

Sorry you did not get your request but no requests are usually even taken for GTY or *GT Rates. You always take the chance with GTYs and *GT rates that you will be put where DCL inventory requires. You will still have a great time and if it helps at all, I find forward a great area to be in.

MJ

That's what I thought - the no requests thing on GTY or *GT.

And yes... I LOVE being forward!!! It is a wonderful place to be on the ships!!!

Yeah I knew that going in. I just thought it was rather comical that they would put me about as opposite of what I asked for as possible. I know 4 other cabins that were GTY and at least two of them made no request and all of them are further back on the ship than I am. I think they just never even checked for/looked at requests, that or they did and the person assigning the cabins that day was in a lousy mood lol! Our room actually seems good, not noisy and the ship is so small compared to the Dream, that we usually cruise on, that the trip from forward to aft is really no big deal.

I believe all the 9Cs are on the front of the ship.

On the Magic deck 2 9cs are forward and aft, none midship.

Ah didnt see you were on the dream, I booked the same on the Fantasy for April 2017, but there are only ten actual 9C rooms on that boat (all forward on floors 7 & 8)

#1. What category GTY cabin did you book? 11B

#2. What category and room # did you get? 11A 6047

#3. How many days before the cruise were you assigned your room? 52

#4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover"- undesirable room/location? HAPPY!!! It's a slight upgrade, room is classified as a forward room, but it is actually midship, imo. I originally had a cat 10A booked with room 7001 (as far forward as you can go on deck 7) Saved $500 by switching to GTY and I got more in the middle!

#5. If you booked more than one room, are they close together? n/a

#7. What day of the week was you cabin assigned. Wednesday

8. What time of day was your cabin assigned? wasn't there at 630pm but was at 9pm. Sometime in between ??

Sorry I'm just now catching up on things. Awesome...so happy for you! We actually got our assignment about mid-July. We're 6192, the one with the flag pole. It's looks great and we're thrilled!

I do have a quick question though for the very savvy cruisers here on this board:
Once a GTY room is assigned, has it ever been changed?

Very very unlikely. About the same chance as if you had actually picked your room and would usually be for some sort of an issue with the room itself. Something needing repair in it or something like that. I think you're good. Oh and I've had the rooms right above that both on 7 and 8 and it's a wonderful room with what in my opinion is the best of all the verandahs!

Thanks much for the encouraging words...we are sooooo excited!!!

#4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover"- Dead center aft was exactly what I wanted and somehow I got it! Much better than the verandah guarantee I got on the Magic where I ended up with a solid white wall I had to stand up to see over!

I was so convinced I was going to get "upgraded" to a verandah on the side of the ship where I'd have to stare at another ship all day in Nassau, but nope I'm going to get a beautiful panoramic view of both Nassau and Castaway Cay and a FABULOUS view as we leave port each day. Now to convince myself to leave that verandah at some point during the day...

#2. What category and room # did you get? 09C, stateroom 2642
#3. How many days before the cruise were you assigned your room? 52 days
#4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover"- undesirable room/location? I really can't tell. It's the same category, so that's neither good nor bad (since we knew we'd get at least that). But it's only a few rooms from the back of the ship, so IDK if that's a bad thing. Very few reviews on this room, and they're mixed. It's on the starboard side, and IDK if that makes a difference.

I love being all the way aft. Straight up the stairs to Cababas and Animators Palette. Its our preferred area. We're almost always aft and there is vibration when you dock in the mornings but I love that because it wakes me up and I can go sit by my big porthole and watch the ship come into port. Its my favorite part of the day, I would hate to sleep through it! If you're all the way back you shouldn't hear anything from Cariocas since it wont be directly above you. I always bring earplugs any time I travel though anyway just in case I get noisy neighbors or some other unpredictable noise that might keep me up. (I use Mack's earplugs and they are awesome!)

#2. What category and room # did you get? 9B #2060
#3. How many days before the cruise were you assigned your room? 56 ( not very sure since I didn't check everyday.)
#4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover"- First time on Disney cruise and first time bought GTV. I hoped that we could get a slightly higher deck. Will have to see what deck 2 be like. We usually stay on Deck 6 on other cruise ships. If deck 2 is too low, I might not do GTV on outside room, again.

Little confused. Don't think they can downgrade you which is what an 8 to a 9 would be. 6676 is a 8D so looks like you booked an 8D GTY and got an 8D.

All 9B staterooms are on deck 2, so you booked a category that would automatically place you on that deck. If you wanted a higher deck, 9A or any category 8 would have been better for you. Even 9C and 9D are on the higher decks on the Fantasy. Not sure when you are cruising, but you could still change your category if there is availability in any other oceanview category. You will not pay the current rate, but just the difference between the prices when you booked originally.
