October 20 - Question of the Day
Luckily, when we go on trips, we are the ones in charge (usually!).
I know quite a few of us are already planning trips for fun and also maybe trips to celebrate the upcoming holidays with family and friends.
How do you keep yourself in check when you go on a trip?
Who has plans already for Thanksgiving (for the Americans here) or Winter Holiday travel?
I focused on consistency during weight loss - meaning meals out are perfectly ok any day, not every day but it doesn't have to vacation or holiday.
I did detailed report here for our Spain holiday

Someone recently read the report and called me obsessed. I had a good think of it and actually, adding the calories took less than 10 minutes a day. I had a look at how the numbers add when I came home, but I work with numbers and I enjoy looking at data and trends without sweating the small stuff. It was good in the end, I know calorie counting drive some people mad but I like it. Each on their own, I will continue with it. People that smoke spend more time a day to facilitate their smoking and we don't go calling them obsessed, yet it brings no benefit to their life. Why mock tools that help people live healthier and happier lives?
I estimated to be honest a lot but I added the numbers and it made me accountable. I enjoyed my food but it stopped me for keep eating after dinner and made me aware of some of my choices. I don't mind estimating, I don't need exact details
I changed from drinking cocktails to glass of prosecco (sparkling wine, I prefer it to be dry) and I actually really enjoy it.
I focus on getting my veggies and fruit in nearly all of my meals (300g, or half plate)
I tried not to go over my daily calories much
I kept and eye on my resting heart rate on my fitbit as it's very sensitive. I know if I eat little too much I need to eat little litter the next day.
I ate what I want for dinner every night
For WDW, I plan
I won't overeat
my before after picture is on my phone, so it clearly reminds me what too much followed by diets followed by too much did to me
I plan to track calories, estimating to keep me aware and not sweating the correctness
We will visit Publix to get fruit as it really helps me feel good and love it. It's my candy! I hope they have some greek yogurt too, I love it for breakfast
If I do many days with less than 20 000 steps and 30 minutes swimming I will consider doing yoga video but I am so looking forward to be out in the sun, I would opt for walk & swim if I can
I won't worry about getting value out of
ddp but enjoyment out of my holiday
I fully intent to enjoy my sausages at the biergarten, tuna salad at be our guest (I hope they kept the quality), steak at the brown derby, my meat at the Flame Tree and all the enjoyment Disney food can offer me without guilt, but not all in unlimited quality of it at every meal.
If I feel like cocktail I will have it but i don't like that they are pre made in many locations
For Christmas
I won't overeat. I dislike being overly full now. Like it's Christmas, you can't loose sleep or eating little extra, right?
I cooked traditional Christmas dinner (I believe it's like your thanksgiving) last year. I don't enjoy such heavy meals anymore, it was fun to do all that cooking but I find I prefer my potatoes boiled, and roasted with little olive oil instead of goose fat, the brussel sprouts without the bacon and the add ons little simpler. I am looking forward for turkey, ham and sausage meat and my fresh cherries creme de casis liquor trifle! They will be cooked traditionally, won't be making change to them!
