Podcast Cruise 6.0!!! Official Info

I'd that if your smartphone supports WiFi calling, and you are getting an internet package, that you enable WiFi calling before you leave home. That way you will be able to receive/place calls once on board, just as mentioned put your phone on airplane mode to turn off the cellular radio.

Thanks for the tips Jobie. I would have never thought to pre-download a map of the ports we will be visiting.

So food. Windjammers is the Buffet and there is Main Dining room. And from what I have read Solarium is "free" for breakfast and lunch. So is there other "free" places to eat?? or will we be given a list with this information??

My understanding is, your Cruise Compass will list all of the places to eat as well as their hours of operation. If there is a $$ next to it, there is an extra fee to eat there, if no $$, no additional fee.

The other complimentary places to eat on board are Park Cafe in Central Park, Sorrento's Pizza and the Promenade Cafe in the Promenade, and the Wipe Out Cafe on Deck 16. Park Cafe has really good sandwiches and salads somewhat similar to a Panera.

Here's one small tip from me:

If you're in one of those very long hallways with cabins and don't know which is aft and which forward, look at the circular plastic cabin numbers. You'll see a little arrow pointing towards the front of the ship. The ship signs are also color coded, dividing the ship into four sections

Dining locations, other than the main dining room and Windjammer (bolded = no extra costs to all guests):

Giovanni's Table - Tuscan Italian restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner. Costs extra money
Park Cafe - opened for breakfast and lunch. Sandwhiches, soup, salad, fruit, pastries. Will also offer snacks until late at night on some nights. This place is complementary.
Chops Grille - Steak house that is open for dinner. Costs extra.
Sabor - Mexican food that is open for lunch and dinner. Costs extra.
Izumi Hibachi & Sushi - Japanese food open for lunch and dinner. Costs extra.
Sorrento's Pizzeria - open 24hrs, with pizza by the slice or you can even order your own custom made personal pizza. No extra cost.
Café Promenade - open pretty much all the time except for really late at night. Free snacks, pastries, and sandwhiches. Specialty coffees for an extra cost.
Boardwalk Doghouse - Hotdog stand that offers various types of franks and sausages. No extra cost.
Cups & Scoops - ice cream and cupcakes for an extra cost.(There are free soft serve machines on the pool decks)
Johnny Rockets (only free in the morning) - in the morning, this is a free place to get breakfast. There is an extra cost for lunch and dinner.
150 Central Park - Extra cost, multi course meal. Supposed to be really good!
Solarium Cafe - open for lunch at no extra cost. Sandwiches and such. It is right outside the adults only area.
Wipe Out Cafe - open for lunch and later. Burgers, hotdogs, and more. This is over by the Flowriders. So it is a good place to grab a bite and watch others.
Coastal Kitchen - only open to suite guests and those with Pinnacle level

As others have mentioned, your daily compass will show hours and will mark which ones cost extra.

Okay, I have a very specific food question. Somehow one of our cruise traditions came to be getting a plate of french fries as an afternoon snack. On other ships we've sailed, they typically had them at the poolside grill kind of place. Where would we go for our french fry fix on Oasis? Preferably a place that is just walk up counter service.

Wipeout Cafe will be your best place to get fries. They also have good pretzel dogs there.

I've read on some cruise sites that I should pack a hair dryer. I saw on the RCCL site that the rooms come with a hair dryer. Can anyone give advice on this? Thanks. Can't believe it is only 16 days 'til the cruise!

My husband uses an sleep apnea machine and is concerned about plugging it in. He seems to think the only outlet to plug into is in the bathroom.
Also, I read that we cannot bring an extension cord. Does anyone know how he can deal with this? Does the ship provide extension cords for medical necessity?

There will be a hair dryer in the room. No need to pack one.

I just did a search on Cruise Critic and many are saying there is an outlet next to the bed for CPAP machines. It may be a little hidden by the mattress, so you may need to search for it. If you want to read for yourself, go to the cruise critic boards and select Royal Caribbean. Look to the right, just above the list of threads for the "search this forum" button. Type in "CPAP plug Oasis" and select show posts. You will see plenty of people saying there will be an outlet.

You can make a request of Royal for an extension cord and for distilled water if needed. There is a form you need to complete and send in. I contacted Tracey H. on how to setup and she pointed me to the correct URL for the form. This way you will have an approved extension cord.
