Staying on the ship in Nassau. Tips?

I know plenty of you have said that you like to stay on the ship in Nassau. I'll be on the December 18th 5-night Magic cruise with a stop in Nassau. This will be our 3rd time to Nassau with the first two times consisting of trips to Atlantis and the other time seeing the island. We have determined that this is a port that doesn't interest us to get off for this trip. I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips of what you like to do on these days. I have looked at navigators, and it seems like there isn't much activities planned when the ship is in port besides movies on funnel vision/Buena Vista Theater. Thanks for your help!

Well they've started adding some more things onboard in Nassau. It seems that DCL is aware that not so many people get off there. Palo brunch has been added to Nassau day, for instance.

Palo Brunch isn't an option on the bookings for Nassau on my cruise. Normally it would say it was sold out if it was still offered. I have never done the brunch, so I figured that would be a fun option for that day until it wasn't an option.

We love that the ship has fewer folks on it. We go see a movie in the theatre, hang out by the pool. Sounds boring but actually it's really nice. Take time over breakfast, go for coffees and drinks. Enjoy the aquadunk. Just hang out!

They might have a quiz on, bingo or play the shuffleboard. We sometimes even do laundry!

Pali brunch and adult pool would be my top 2. Satellite falls is another good place to hang out as well as the spa.

Palo brunch is only offered in Nassau on cruises without a sea day. The ship is definitely more crowded than in the past. It's a great day to take a nap, see a movie, Aquadunk, walk around and appreciate the art and some of the smaller details that get missed in the rush of a cruise.

On our 4 day cruise (with no sea day), Palo brunch was offered on our Key West day, rather than Nassau, so there does seem to be some variation.

We did get off the ship in Nassau, but we were back on by 11. We only got off the ship to go to the Pirate museum and a rum distillery. Once back on the ship, we saw a movie in the theater and just generally relaxed a bit. We had a verandah, and I personally enjoyed watching other ships dock (we had docked the night before), and all the happenings on the pier. That being said, it was our first cruise. We had intended to hit the pool, but we were on the stomach bug cruise in April, so we decided to stay out of the human soup.

We were on the Magic in the Med this past September and stayed onboard for two of the four ports the ship visited. It was so much fun!! We spent a lot of time in the Oceaneres Club, they had open house all morning (we're two adults...). They also had some activities in the morning, like charades and walk a mile with a cruise staff member, we went to a movie in the movie theater, there were also movies at the pool. The Aqaudunk only opened at 2 PM on port days, so we did that once it opened and there were no lines, we went about six times in a row, we loved it. You can also play shuffleboard on deck 4, but we never had time to check that out.

We sailed on Royal Caribbean a few weeks ago with stops in Nassau, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten and never got off the ship. It was so much more relaxing to just hang out on board. We did not go on a cruise to shop and do excursions

Do you know what kind of deals the spa would have on a port day? I know some cruise lines have deals, but I'm not sure if Disney does deals on port days. I have usually just booked my spa treatments on embarkation day, so normally looking into spa deals on port days hasn't happened.

My plan in Nassau is to get off and go for a run while my wife and daughter go to the beach nearby. When I'm done with the run I'll grad a few beers at Pirate Republic Brewery, pick up a couple 6 packs of my favorites then head back on board.

I can't say for sure about your cruise, but when we were on the Fantasy for 7 days, my wife inquired at Guest Services on like the second or third day, and signed up for some $200 treatment for $100 and then got 20% off another treatment that she booked at the same time. True, she didn't get to pick from "everything" but the ones she chose sounded interesting to her at the time, and she enjoyed them. I don't remember exactly which treatments they were off-hand. I could ask her.

Main point is, deals do happen so definitely look for them and take advantage, but at the same time, if you have your heart set on something specific, and you can afford it, don't wait.

For anyone knowledgeable about Nassau...would this route seem safe for a morning run?

I will say this...Nassau hasn't been the greatest for news lately. It probably isn't safe to run by yourself on the island. I remember I walked from the fort back to the ship. That was one of the scariest 15 minutes of my life. Nassau has been known lately for robberies happening to cruise ship guests.

I run really fast....does that make a difference?

Just joking...thanks. I wasn't sure if this was more like Jamaica or Cozumel.
No problem. I hope you have a great trip! I just wanted to let you know what I have heard within the past several months. Remember that the ship should have a running track/trail if you still want to get your run in.

I'll default to the treadmill if need be, but I really hate the treadmill. The only thing I hate more than running on the treadmill is running on the deck.

Thanks again!
