3,298 miles, 10 breweries, and 1 Mega Meet - a July '16 Trip Report *New 6/5/17 - Link to new TR!*

Those early mornings can be tough at MK, the TTC makes it very difficult to get there quickly - which is my main reason for loving the Contemporary. Glad you still made rope drop though and a walk on to Peter Pan, love the interactive elements although we've only really blown by them lol!

I'm sorry you weren't able to catch the welcome show :( But at least you were still there for rope drop and got on Peter Pan! I really love the new queue.

The pics of the 3 kids by the HM statues are so cute!

It's been so long since I took the ferry. Like I was about 4 the last time I did. That sucks that you didn't get there in time but still got a partial view. I'm going to miss the train station show.

I have yet to do the regular queue at pan since they redid it.

Love the pictures of the kids by the HM statues. Peter looks really excited.

I can't even remember the last time I took a Ferry before this trip Ryan, but it felt like we wound up having to take it quite a few times this trip. I like the option, but was frustrating at the time that it was the only option

The queue at Pan is really cute and I love that they put things to keep your attention in the queues. not sure if it is worth waiting hours for, but fun to check out at least once

Thanks! We tried it a previous trip and Peter wasn't really feeling it - this time it came out a lot better

Definitely advantages to being at the Contemporary!

Funny you mention blowing by the interactive elements ... Judi and the kids went right by the scene that has Tink moving around not realizing there was anything to see and then wondered where I was as I wasn't with them as I hung back to watch lol

I was a bit bummed to not see the welcome show - more so in that we made the effort and if the monorail was running we would have made it. Oh well. We did try to make the best of it.

Thanks!

The ferry is really scenic and gives you great views of the area and the park, but ... not the fastest method of transportation. I'm sorry that you missed the welcome show (especially because you got up early to see it) ... it was definitely a cute show, and I'm sorry that you guys will never get a chance to see that little moment of cuteness.

Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion are both excellent morning ride choices. It's always nice to start the day with two classic opening day attractions!

Definitely agree about the Ferry when you have time it can be very nice and relaxing - we even found the bus ride over to Fort Wilderness to be nice ... but when time is an issue it is a bit more frustrating

Always good to start with some classics!

Part 69: At Disney - Day 7: Magic Kingdom
Playing with Pooh and does Peter ride the Mine Train?

After visiting some happy haunts we headed back into Fantasyland based on wait times and where we had upcoming FP for ... first up with a ride with Winnie the Pooh - or, rather, spending time playing in the queue ... including gettin' down with the drums!

01_Emma%20playing%20drums.jpg
Drums%20in%20Pooh%20line.gif

And playing with the bees and the honey wall

bees.gif

01_Playing%20with%20bees.jpg
02_playing%20with%20honey%20wall.jpg

Again, not a lot of great pictures from the ride - but one to prove that we did actually go on the ride

03_on%20Pooh%20ride.jpg

Afterwards Emma was getting tired but Olivia and Peter wanted to ride again - or, more like, wanted to play in the queue some more - so Judi stayed with Emma while I went with them. This time a picture of Olivia playing in Pooh's house:

04_Olivia%20in%20Poohs%20house.jpg

And, it's a pretty terrible picture, but I finally got one of when you are on the ride and you can see the picture of Mr. Toad handing the deed of the ride over to Owl as a nod to the attraction that used to be in this location

05_Owl%20gets%20deed.jpg

After we were done, Emma had fallen asleep - so we figured it was a good time to use our rider swaps for 7 Dwarfs Mine Train and see if Peter would ride. Well, I guess he was telling the truth that it was because of it being dark the previous time that he didn't want to ride as he was totally up for it this time. I rode with him first and you can see he was a bit nervous but then Judi rode with him and he did better (and we got the front row both time)

up next, a snack and a mermaid

Part 70: At Disney - Day 7: Magic Kingdom
A Tavern with no Beer?

So, despite having several trips under our belt since the opening of New(ish) Fantasyland, we had actually never been to Gaston's Tavern. We were all a bit hungry at this point (only had had some granola bars and the like for breakfast) so though this was a good time (it was about 9:15am at this point). While Judi was riding with Peter and Olivia, Emma had woken up - so I started over first to get the food and grab a table while they rode

01_Emma%20in%20front%20of%20fountain.jpg

Menu sign and then of our food. We got a Cinnamon Roll and a chocolate Croisoint and a LeFou's Brew to split (no souvenir cup this time)

03_Menu%20at%20Gastons.jpg
02_Food%20at%20Gastons.jpg

I think we also got some water or milk later after the other kids joined. Overall this was a good snack and about the right amount of food. We enjoyed both food items (I think I might have preferred the chocolate croissant actually). As for the LeFou's Brew ... it was ok. It was nice to try and something different but I think it was just too sweet for me - especially the foam on top.

After this we saw the wait for meeting Ariel in mermaid form wasn't too long so decided to go in - although Emma wasn't interested (she may have fallen back asleep).

I love these pictures ... and I am pretty sure this will not be the last time Peter has a funny grin when a pretty girl is talking to him

We got a nice picture too!

Coming up - another snack and another roller coaster for Peter

Part 71: At Disney - Day 7: Magic Kingdom
A couple of spins on the Barnstormer

While I was with Peter and Olivia with Ariel (which wound up taking a bit longer than we expected), Emma needed a diaper change. So Judi had taken her to do that over in Storybook Circus and also stopped for another snack (I don't think ate a ton of what we got at Gaston's)

01_Big%20Top%20Entrance.jpg

What did she wind up with? A yummy looking caramel apple that they then cut up into pieces for us so we could share
02_Caramel%20Apple%20in%20hand.jpg
03_Caramenl%20Apple%20in%20container.jpg

I think both Olivia and Peter needed to use the restroom so we did that while taking turns just resting and enjoying our snack.

Peter and Olivia then wanted to ride the Barnstormer so I took them both to do that ... unfortunately the CM at the entrance to the queue said each kid needed an adult to ride with them. Not sure why Olivia was able to ride by herself (with Peter and an adult in the seat in front) on Mine Train but not on the Barnstormer, but ok. So I had to take turns with them. Peter first, and then Olivia

It's a fun enough ride, though obviously very short!

Coming up - Trips under the sea and into outer space!

Part 72: At Disney - Day 7: Magic Kingdom
Under the Sea and out into Space

At this point we actually had a FP due (we had moved FP around based on what we had gotten done earlier in the week and where we were eating, etc. so they were a bit all over the place at this point and maybe not for the most useful things, but it is what it is) - first up was Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid in the Quest for More Legs!

01_under%20the%20sea%20entrance.jpg

This is a cute ride and lots of bright colors - so while the most amazing ride technologically, we enjoy it (although I seem to have a habit of getting the picture of animatronics with their eyes half closed so they look kinda stoned)

03_Ariel%20and%20Flounder.jpg

04_Flounder%20and%20dancer.jpg
05_Ursala.jpg

After the ride Judi took the girls to the restroom so I had Peter for a bit and he found this little door that is on the back-side of the Seven Dwarf Mine Train. Took me a minute to realize that I guess dwarfs would have small doors - love details like that

06_Peter%20at%20small%20door.jpg

At this point it was just after 11am and our next Fast Pass was due - this time for Space Mountain! Only Olivia was tall enough of the kids, so the plan was for her to use Peter's Magic Band to ride twice. However our turn took so long that we were coming up on our ADR so after the ride I was able to convince the CM to give us a rider swap so Judi could ride later as we didn't have time to fit in two rides before our ADR.

07_Space%20Mountain.jpg

I apparently still don't know which way to look for the ride photo. On the plus side, on the way out Olivia's name was in one of the promotional videos
08_Space%20Mountain%20ride%20photo%201.jpg
10_Space%20Mountain%20exit%20sign%20with%20Olivia.jpg

This is still one of my favorite rides - though I think WDW's is my least favorite with Disneyland in California being better and then the one in Hong Kong being my favorite that I have ridden so far (I understand the one in Paris is really cool ... someday!)

At this point Judi had taken Peter and Emma to check in for our ADR and Olivia and I went over to catch up

Where were we eating? Well, that is for the next update - but it was another "new to us" place!

TTFN

Again, not a lot of great pictures from the ride - but one to prove that we did actually go on the ride

I am surprised they let Olivia ride by herself! And then again with another younger rider.

As for the LeFou's Brew ... it was ok. It was nice to try and something different but I think it was just too sweet for me - especially the foam on top.
My girls love LeFou's Brew. But they are sweet tooth sugar love'n kids. I just steal a couple sips and I am good.

Weird.. I would def think Barnstormer is less crazy than 7DMT.

Glad to hear we aren't the only ones who end up doing this. My perfectly laid out plans get all bent out of shape...

I need to remember this, and look for it. I love those details!

Can't wait to see where you guys eat!

Looks like an awesome day!

Great Mine train ride photos! I could go for a cinnamon roll right now.

Those Ariel photos are really good. The kids have smiles from ear to ear.

I have to get an apple every trip except I usually get one of the decorated ones. I got Sorcerer Mickey in January.

I have never noticed the small door.

I really like the special MyMagic+ screens they are doing at the rides. We had multiple cases where people in our group had their names on them.

I'm glad Peter decided to go on Mine Train - he certainly looked like he enjoyed it the second time around!

I love the pictures with Ariel - Peter's funny grin really is adorable!

I love the tiny details like that door at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - it really shows how much attention Disney pays to making these attractions!

So I've been looking into the policy and the official Disney rules are that anyone under 7 needs someone at least 14 with them - but what that means and how it is enforced seems to get applied differently at different attractions - is just having an adult in the seat in front of you "with you" or not, etc.?

I am the same as you - a sip or two of the LeFou's Brew was enough - glad to have that but it was good we just shared one

I tend not to go too crazy with planning out ever step we take but since this was now our 4 day in MK (for at least part of the day) we had done a lot a lot of our top priorities so was just what we had left we wanted to do and could get FP for

That was the first time we had seen the door but Peter loved it (it was in the trip video as well of him banging on it yelling "helllllloooo!"

Your Ariel pictures are so cute!

Thank you! We always seem to have fun meets with her - I think she gets to be a bit sillier than some of the other princesses

Thanks Ryan - was a good day!

I am so glad they added the ride photo (and now videos) to memory maker - definitely get some fun shots!

Obviously not everyone "gets" Disney but it is fun when your kids are into the character meets

oooh, those all done up fancy like apples look so cool!

That was the first time we had noticed the small door as well. Peter got a big kick out of it

I like the idea of those my magic screens as well - just a nice added touch and people definitely seem to get a kick out of seeing their names come up!

He was very happy - especially after the second ride. After the trip he would say it was his favorite ride, so we are very glad he did ride it

Peter really does do having a funny grin well!

Absolutely! Love all the Disney details - can't wait to see what things like that are in the new Star Wars Land!

Good to know. My girls 8 & 6 now, will be 9 & 7 when we go in September and they are def hoping to ride more by themselves. I think it would make it a memorable next trip if they could do that more. Plus they ALWAY fight over who gets to ride with me. And poor DH is stuck being the leftovers.... Might help level things out a bit.

My guess is they _should_ be able to ride alone but I guess be prepared that it might not work at a given attraction

I can't remember the last time we took the ferry to MK. I suppose it could be a bit stressful if time is an issue.

We were able to see the new welcome show in front of the castle on our trip in January. While we enjoyed being able enter early to shop a little, get coffee, and pose for pictures in front of the castle, the show itself was a bit lackluster. Oh, well....

You had quite the productive morning! My grandkids hate the haunted mansion. Not sure when I'll ever be able to get them back on.

I love sweets. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't eat something sweet, but I find LeFou's Brew too sweet, also.

That little door is really cool. I wish I had known about that and could have pointed it out on our last trip.

Funny, your cinnamon roll looks better than the promotional photo on the menu! The chocolate croissant looks good too!!

As for the LeFou's Brew ... it was ok. It was nice to try and something different but I think it was just too sweet for me - especially the foam on top.

I'm sort of indifferent about it, too. Aria didn't like it AT ALL.

unfortunately the CM at the entrance to the queue said each kid needed an adult to ride with them

This is so irritating, since you just don't know (and it will prob change with CM's). I am still surprised they let Aria & Izzy ride together on 7DMT and I'm sure if we tried it again they wouldn't let us! So irritating.

I think the ferries are great when you have some time and can relax - it is quite scenic ... just not the quickest mode of transportation. I think I was also just frustrated that the monorails were down and it was impacting our plans vs being specifically upset at the ferry

Yeah, I have watched the new show online and I think "lackluster" is the best word to describe it. So many people loved the show at the Station so you really needed something at least as good, if not better, and it just isn't.

Ok, glad it wasn't just me that found it too sweet!

We didn't know about the door, Peter just sort of found it - love stumbling along details like that

I know some people aren't fans of the cinnamon rolls there / prefer when they were back at the Main St. Bakery but at least ours was pretty darn good.

It was nice to try the LeFou's Brew and I could see getting one to share again at some point - but definitely not a "must get" for us

It is the inconsistency with how the multiple kids with one adult is handled - makes it hard to plan and can lead to frustration and upset kids, etc. Whatever the rule is - just pick one! ;)
